I am fitting the same wet room from abacus. I had to raise my former onto a 4x2 base frame to meet the waste pipe height and built a 4x2 kerb with a 50mm upstand to keep the water within and to support the base of the glass screen. On the remaining bathroom floor I have uneven floor joists and after lining with osb I poured over primer followed by fibre reinforced self leveling compound.
My dilemma is whether or not to fix 10mm tile backer boards into the floor using kst adhesive without any screws so that I don't disturb or crack the compound.
On top of that will be a ufh mat followed by another layer of self leveling compound and then tiles.
Any advice would be appreciated 😊

Very informative as usual, the only thing I would like to add is glueing, in addition to screwing, of the support battens just to guard against the dreaded squeaks?

wouldn't fibreglass mat be better for tanking?

I would loveit if Abacus did a 3 sided 750mm square preformed tray and trap.

Hi Roger have followed a lot of your videos, thanks for detailed explanation and when I say the details I gathered from your videos to a walk in shower installer, they ask me if I am a builder.
    I have couple of questions.
    1. I am restricted on raising my current floor height which is approx 30mm from joists. 18mm chip board, 10mm tiles and possibly 2-5mm adhesive. So I am planning to sink the floor between the joists all through the shower room and use 10mm elements board while have 6mm for the walls. I am planning to use plywood and battens. I also want to put some thermospan or celotex insulation under the floor between the joists. What size batten would you recommend and what insulation to go with?
    2. I cannot use a shower tray 30 mm due to height restrictions. What are my drain/trap/waste options with a 10mm floor board?
FYI, my new floor will be 10mm elements board + 5 mm underfloor heating mat fully encapsulated with flexible adhesive (total 10mm) and 10mm tiles on top.

No Leaks as long as the o'ring doesnt degrade. I think I would have preferred to have the trap solvent welded in perhaps?

Do you need to use tile trim? Will it even be seen?

looks like a great system - quick question, if water did get under the tiles and grout how would it drain away, as the drain lip seems to sit proud of the mat? Thanks.

I want to do my entire bathroom floor in pennies, Including the wet room. Will the epoxy resin be too viscous to work in the fall of the wet room? I don't want to just grout it as the pennies will go dull and green over time.

Can this tray be screwed to ply when tile adhesive layed before tanking?

My plumber connected the trap to a 50 mm waste pipe but due to space constraints we could not fit the 4 degree fall connector. Also I find that there is a little water standing inside the trap when I tested for leaks. Is that normal?

Hey I’ve bought a 1200x1200 tray and it’s not flat in fact if you poured water on it the water will go away from the trap. I’d this right?

    • @RINO92xxl
      @RINO92xxl Před 2 dny

That's right. You don't want any water going inside the trap.
