Thanks for the great video. Does the manufacturer still exist? I bought this kit, but think it's defective (the adhesive doesn't go right across the tape), but the manufacturer is not responding to emails.
Hi - after about 10 years use one of the valves (on/off flow) ceased up. Tried getting a replacement but struggled to find an exact matching one... Found your video and tried flushing the part in timescale remover - wow! It worked a treat. Have it several washes in the remover and slowly eased it back and forth. Left it in the wash with the valve open, then shut, then half way, and worked it both ways between soaks. After several washes and wiping away the loosened timescale the valve is now back in and working as good as new. Thanks for the video - saved us loads of hassle... 👍
Why no elements board first? Bit contradictory?
If i fixed the pipe for the shower head on b i can do anything to don't brake the tiles, because is not working
What connectors are used to join to the copper pipe (0:33)? They look like solder fittings? If they are, how are they soldered with the fittings in place?
No Leaks as long as the o'ring doesnt degrade. I think I would have preferred to have the trap solvent welded in perhaps?
hi, roger can you please recommend agood adhesive for hardie backer board and can you use foam adhesive to fix to 35mm insulated plasterboard is it better to screw it to the plaster board.( tile adhesive)
Thanks Roger. The only thing I missed from the instructions for the 820mm was fitting the siphon cam bracket. Watching you, the penny dropped and I was able to complete the install. What you call the debris plate was actually a cover plate that must be an optional extra on the 820 because I did not have that. Always a pleasure watching you Roger!
Can you take the click lock off the bottom of the tray once it's clicked in ?
Watched a loooot of your videos. Probably the first "influencer" that I trust. Just bought the Abacus boards for my DIY walk-in shower. Let's see how it goes
How much did you mix of that to clean the valve?
Can you tank on top of the self adhesive waterproof tape or is it not necessary?
It's not necessary but the belt and braces approach will not hurt.
Amazing video and very good information as always 😊👌will use this before tiling 👍
Great video and information thank you 🙂👍
Got a rough wall consisting of backing plaster, old tile adhesive and finishing plaster. Want to over board it with this board. What would I prime the walls with first before using the adhesive to stick to board to the wall?
Love your kit guys; I just wish the website was more informative about which fitting plates marry up to the various elements sleeves. A compatibility graph will go a long way to helping trades.
Thanks for the feedback. We’ve put that to the technical team so watch this space!
Sorry did I miss it? Where’s the demonstration 😂
Looks like that tiler had a bad time around the WC.
Can you paint the boards or would they need to be plastered first?
Hi Roger, I have a lot of plaster board dot and dub adhesive left over. Can I use this on this elements board or similar board to dot and dub to brick walls in the bathroom?
I have been following you long time and wonder to demonstrate of the best sound insulation achievements board apply on party wall 100mm timber floor joists old house. I am sure you had a great experience awaiting your help.. Do we need eract new stud structure then apply the board and how many layer we need
I used it a couple of years ago and is still doing well. Ive also used it to seal the door membrane on my Porsche.
Silicon tip was useful
Its a good product except the surface laquer breaks down & peels. I've had it in my ensuite shower for 6 years & the laquer coating is peeling in quite a few places...
Ive got one of these by crosswater, how do you connect it to a regular waste pipe??
Apologies if we have misread your question but it’s a 1 ¼” thread which then connects directly to a corresponding bottle trap. It’s the latter that then connects to your regular waste pipe. Hope that helps. Great video, it inspired me to buy the same system. I have to shorten the shower tray by 100mm, what do I do about the tile lines? Would you mark to the original corners first before cutting? Or draw lines to the new corners? Thanks
You would need to mark the original corners as this corresponds to the manufactured fall lines.
what if you have a concrete floor? what do you do?
Aside from the labour heavy option of chasing out for any pipework (taking into account falls etc) and tray it might be an idea to consider raised concept options. This is a tiled alternative to a legged acrylic tray alternative whereby the pipework can be run above floor level, so you get the modern tiled look of a wetroom without the more advanced construction requirements.
I use something called a Classi-seal. Really easy to use.
AVOID this product at all costs. I recently purchased Abacus elements board from rubberduck and it's been a complete nightmare. The box of 10 boards arrived damaged and it looks like a forklift fork has punctured through them. I inspected the boards and two boards have a hole through them with the subsequent boards having deflection and compression in this same area. I reported this to Rubber duck and after chasing with several phone calls they have advised that Abacus are going to send out two replacement boards, I requested the whole batch be collected and replaced but they have refused and advised that Abacus have advised the remaining boards are "within tolerance" I asked what there tolerance was so I could check myself, and again, after several calls chasing this they advised that there isn't a tolerance measurement it is that they are "fit for purpose" in their opinion which presumably they can tell from a photo. Just so dishonest. The damaged areas on the subsequent boards are compressed from 12mm to around 6mm and are really fragile, I could quite easily push my finger through the boards in the damaged area and they will not stand up to any usual building loads and will split as soon as I put a screw through it. I have told this to Rubber duck however they are now ghosting me. Just an awful, horrible company to deal with. If you want a full refund they demand that you send them the items using a courier at your expense, even if they are damaged, despite the law saying the return delivery should be covered by the seller for damaged products. The boards might be good, however if there is any damage in transit or any issues they will do everything they can to avoid replacing them or helping you. Genuinely my worst ever experience as a consumer has been with this company. Save yourself the hassle and go with another product or supplier.
Hi there, how to fix sagging / leaning down screens?
Brilliant idea I'm gonna try that idea myself
Hi I just need to know what kit this is you’ve bought
Cant you use the wedi tape and corner pieces for this job ?
Thank you for your clear demonstration. I found it very helpful.
I use these kits on every install now, never had an issue.
You are the Jason Statham of Plumbers :D
I guess the concealed cisterns are designed to be maintenance free for a number of years. For most people on a budget, a three piece suite will still be the way. If you have a shower over bath situation and you open the window while showering and squeegee and wipe the tiles / bath, the grout and silicone will last a long time. No water will go near the elements board for a long time, although I agree that this is the appropriate way to do it.
Thank you!
Do you need to put primer on wedi type boards or cement boards before you tile
Ive got 6mm for a new pre wall is this suitable? Or is it too thin for tiles ?
GKS Plumbing, Heating &Bathrooms👍👍
I’ve installed No More Leaks 3 years ago and I checked under my shower today and I was disappointed to note that there appears to be leaks and water under the shower coming from the edges alongside where the no more leaks tape is. It is Fibo shower board on top and I’ve removed the silicon which even after 3 years was in poor condition so I’m replacing that. However, I thought the point of no more leaks is if the silicon failed then no more leaks would stop any water creeping past the sill. I’m gutted and wondering what I can now do other than replace the silicon but I now know that below the silicon there isn’t an effective water barrier
Honestly, it's a real nightmare how in this day and age we don't have a solution for a leak free bathroom. I am putting off committing to a any bathroom fitter till they explain to me how they will make it leak free.
