- They say people should not text while driving, nothing about a full size video camera while driving though!! I was young then..... I am not a big fan of this footage but when you have ALCO's leading EMD's, I gotta share it! Enjoy 6 minutes of ALCO's at least....

The Dofasco trucks are what made these appear as the Canadian beasts they truly were. They out pulled anything else in that era. They sounded like a 40mph thunder storm and tossed crews around inside the cabs like nothing else. I was given a ride aboard #4707 leading #4539 and #4716 reversed pulling auto racks in 1985 at age 14 from Scarborough to Smith Falls Ontario. Best day of my young life!
From what I was told, those things were scary to ride in going over the Mud Creek Trestle on the Belleville Sub
Another awesome video ! Great footage of the 4705 as it departs the yard and nice crew change too. This was a wonderful time in railroading. 😊👍
*cry* I wish Alco still existed
at least 4563 is still in existence
The locomotive looks so much nicer with the bell and horns sitting on the front of the cab.
Love the REAL bell on the front of 4705! Nice video! Thanks for sharing it!
NICE JOB!!! You caught the good ol' days!!
Great Video of teh BIG M's In action in the early 1990's
good video! good shot with big Alco!
Alex
@mygirl22ward all locomotives operating in N/A have a real bell - some are mounted up on the front like 4705 but most are now located below the frame on the side of the engine. A few units come with electronic bells which in theory have fewer problems in cold weather than the air piston type that is on 4705.
Thanks for the video
Dave
Nothing quite like pacing a CP train along Chicago Drive, with Alco's to boot!
There is an actual bell mounted on the front of the engine - most don't any more...just a claxton type thing ringing. It is between the two windshield panels.
1:33 Those EMDs are quite loud if I can hear them first over and behind the Alcos
Train number 200 now belongs to the Vancouver to Edmonton priority manifest
Man those big MLW Centuries look cool all dirtied up. What ever happened to these locos? I know they were retired in 1998 but what then?
The Big m's were retired in july 1995
@Joe Madej not quite 4563 now resides at exporail
@@9751asd Technically they were Unretired cause CP was experiencing a motive power shortage at the time
Cp ships owned CAST container lines
Well that's around 80kmh to put it into perspective for me, 80 clicks is pretty fast
cool, how fast do you thing you're going?
Im guessing 80's/90's
When and where was this?
Nice pacing video of the old Alcos ! Nice close ups looks like a crew change !
Are u up for sale as CP RR and do u want out of RR offer of eight seven a share an two thousand shares of conrail C®S
Why does buddy with the dark hair and beard look as if his face is gray, and wash 4705. It's filthy!
