- While Tim Wakeman (Filmer of BKVP's popular program, "Montreal's Machines, Last Stand of the 251") was going through some of his older tapes, he came across a tape which contained dubbed footage from his trips to Eastern Quebec in the late 1980's. Much of this material never became part of our commercial program, so we are happy to present it now. The quality is not the greatest because it is at least second generation VHS footage, but fans of Alcos/MLW's should still enjoy it! Also included in this same 50 minute video is over 30 minutes of BKVP's 3-plus hour 2 volume commercial DVD. The scenes have been selected from each volume in no particular order. ENJOY!
I'm the young lad running the engine while switching at Drummondville. Have a lot more grey but i'm still running Engines for CP. The east end out of Farnham were some of my best times on the railway. Brings a smile to my face to watch the Alc's smoking up and down the Sherbrooke and Newport subs. Thanks!
Ah,man Alco's in their prime. One of the most ear pleasing sounds on this planet, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful shots!
Great video! That cab driver backing up like a rocket did make me laugh LOL! :)
Quelle belle vidéo et que de bon souvenirs.! Je connais la subdivision de Sherbrooke pour y avoir rouler au début de ma carrière et à la fin chez MMA. VRAIMENT de bons souvenirs.! Merci beaucoup 👍.
Guys, I have to say this was well worth the save and the watch! You can't replace footage like this!
Great video, Alcos (MLW) Fallen Flags and no Graffiti !!!
That was a treasure. Thank you for this. Them Alcos were smokey devils.
Amazing vidio, love those Alcos, Thank you for posting this awesome vidio. lucky I volunteer on a railroad that still uses MLW's on a pretty much daily basis.
thanks for the link on this Tim!
Beautiful engines, shame ALCO was never given a proper chance
Fantastic stuff, Tim! It's a shame I was too young to have captured this footage myself. Gotta love the chug of the 251, as well as all of those sweet sounding M3H air horns. Well done!
very generous of them to release this on youtube.
Well-filmed and edited, loving the bendiness and the zany names.
What a nice video! Thanks a lot for sharing!
GREAT-GREAT SHOT TIM THANKS FOR SHARING ! !
Awful 80s Porno music at the beginning !!! Lol
The Chessie engines were being leased by CP Rail. I saw a bunch of them when I took the Canadian from Montreal to Vancouver in 1987.
Ran quite a few of those myself! I wish I took more photos!
Ironically, CP is poised to bring some of these lines back into the fold.
