@@rokukou Yikes. I'm embarrassed on your behalf that you don't know how the English language works.
What a shame smh
By stop talking about it he also means stop saying somebody can't get this because they're black or can't go that far because they are black. Stop saying somebody sounds black or acts black and also stop saying that well because this neighborhood looks like so-and-so blacks must live here or anything similar to that as well. Stop saying only blacks do this and you will not find blacks like that and blah blah blah. That's what stop talking about it means you stop referencing anything and everything as black or white or Jewish or whatever. Stopped talking about it means in every single instance. Because a neighborhood has a certain characteristic don't assume it's a black neighborhood it's just a neighborhood of people, and so on.
TCt83067695 i am embarrassed that you didn‘t understand that i was calling you silly for calling Morgan Freeman silly. you may have a superiority complex but you should try to be more humble.
"I'm Jewish"----what a pathetic cop-out by Wallace. He tried to escape answering, but Freeman wouldn't free him.
He's saying "my history is not the American history that is taught the whole year round". Which is true. Don't know about him specifically, but none of my family was around before 1900. Hell, half my family was still out of the US as late as 1979. My history isn't being taught the whole year round. My ancestors have nothing to do with American history.
@@miladragon bullshit. You live in America, you were born in America, you're an American, and therefore American history is your history. Who gives a shit if people who lived decades or centuries ago, that happened to be part of your family tree, happened to live somewhere else? Why they didn't take a good hard look at Squirrels, rabbits or cats or dogs and realize they all do basically the same thing, just slightly differently depending on their environment and that we were probably just like that.

That's what worries me. I totally support his method, but I can't help feel guilty that "stop talking about it" is like "we pretend there is not a racial issue" like hiding dust under the carpet.
Marxhog i know right?!
Marxhog You shouldn’t feel guilty because that’s not at all what Freeman meant. It’s not that we’re trying to “pretend it’s not an issue” because it is an issue, but if you’re going to keep pulling up headlines like “BLACK MAN MURDERED BY WHITE MAN” or “WHITE MEN ATTACKS MEXICANS” without any context then people are going to segregate themselves even more. We’re not trying to highlight racism and we’re not trying to deny its existence, but it’s better if we don’t make it a number one universal problem. Because news flash: it’s not.
Pretty much. It stops being a big deal if you don't make it one.
@@Marxhog I don't think he means that we shouldn't remember the past or ignore hate crimes. I think what he means is that everyone blows racism up way beyond what it really is today. We have come a long way since slavery. But now of days every one wants to make every issue about race. when really it's not always about race, and when people do that, they're keeping it alive.

morgan freeman is making a known point, race is a social construct.
Depends on how you define race
@@iwonakaplon3399 how do you define it?
@@bekinddrinkwater a group of people with a common ethnic background. I guess an example would be the Celtic peoples of Europe. The Celts used to be the majority population in the British Isles, France and Iberia. Obviously the different peoples were not identical, and had ethnic and vast cultural differences, but were biologically more related to each other than they were with a German or Slav. Essentially a group of ethnicities with a common heritage, if that makes any sense.
@@iwonakaplon3399 yes it does, thank you for the detailed reply! that definition of race is a more scientific way of defining it and that has its own purpose. ultimately though, the way most people see race, and the definition morgan freeman is referring to, and most likely OP as well, is simply as the color of one's skin. the notion of defining a person by their skin color is indeed a social construct, and because some people continue to see others as people of a certain race before they see them as human, racism is still an issue.
