      I used to think this whole "flat earth" thing is just one of those Internet jokes where trolls are pretending that earth is flat, you would think this joke is only staying on Internet. Until I came to know that there are people out there who actually believe that earth is flat and conduct conferences for it from time to time. What's worse is these people even bring their children into these places and brainwashing their mind since childhood.

      @@opelvectra2297 I do have to ask myself, why did Isaac Newton suddenly have to come up a force called gravity, which can't be tested or measured? How very unscientific! I mean, this wasn't the first time in history that people noticed an object falling. It's not that Newton was so much smarter than his predecessors, but it's because they already had a perfectly sound, testable, provable, mathematical explanation...density and buoyancy. Do things fall because of a mysterious, invisible force that pulls stuff down? Or, do objects fall because they are more dense than the medium they're surrounded by? Which also explains why things like apples don't continue to get pulled down by gravity once they land in water. Is it possible that we only needed gravity once the idea of a globe earth was more established, since no one could otherwise explain how a spinning ball didn't lose all of its water? In the very least, why don't all the oceans move toward the equator? How is it even possible that water is equally distributed across a spinning ball, especially since the earth must spin faster at the equator than at the poles? But somehow, whenever something falls people say "that's gravity" and not "that's density", which is mathematical and measurable. I also find it interesting that, for what it's worth, Newton came up with his idea in the year 1666. It's interesting how many times things are simply coincidental. Are we allowed to ask these questions without ridicule? They seem reasonable.

    • @opelvectra2297
      @opelvectra2297 Pƙed dnem

      @@UncleFetz You lack of scientific education is very obvious. It's also obvious that you're parroting everything what flat earth conmen have told you. Why do you think that gravity can't be tested or measured. This is fifth grade stuff, is there no compulsory education in your country? And don't you know that density is calculated from mass and volume? Where does the downward acceleration of 9.81 m/s2 come from? And why down? Is there an explanation for this in your fantasy pizza world?

    • @johncharles2357
      @johncharles2357 Pƙed 23 hodinami +2

      @@UncleFetz It's entirely valid to question scientific theories and concepts, as that's an essential part of the scientific process. Let's break down some of the points you've raised:
      1. Newton and Gravity: Newton didn't invent the concept of objects falling, but he formulated the theory of gravity to explain the observations of falling objects and the motion of celestial bodies. Gravity, as described by Newton, is indeed testable and measurable. It allows for accurate predictions of the motions of planets, moons, and other celestial bodies. While the concept of density and buoyancy explains why objects sink or float in fluids, it doesn't fully account for the motion of celestial bodies or the behavior of objects in free fall.
      2. Density and Buoyancy vs. Gravity: Density and buoyancy are indeed factors in why objects sink or float in fluids. However, gravity acts on all objects regardless of their density. It's not an either/or situation; both density/buoyancy and gravity play roles in different physical phenomena.
      3. Earth's Shape and Gravity: The shape of the Earth and gravity are related, but the idea of gravity predates the widespread acceptance of the Earth being a globe. Gravity is a fundamental force that acts between all objects with mass. The distribution of water on Earth is influenced by gravity, the Earth's rotation, and other factors like winds and currents.
      4. Equatorial Bulge and Water Distribution: The Earth's rotation does cause an equatorial bulge, meaning that the Earth is slightly flattened at the poles and bulges at the equator. However, this doesn't mean that water is perfectly distributed across the Earth's surface. Factors like gravitational variations, landmasses, and ocean currents influence the distribution of water.
      5. Asking Questions: Absolutely, questioning scientific theories is essential for progress. However, it's important to base these questions on evidence and understanding of the scientific principles involved. Gravity has been extensively tested and verified through experiments and observations, making it a robust scientific theory.
      In summary, while it's natural to question scientific concepts, it's crucial to do so within the framework of established evidence and principles. Gravity, as described by Newton and later refined by Einstein's theory of general relativity, remains a fundamental force in our understanding of the universe, backed by extensive empirical evidence.
