+ECDT1089 From what I have read, Naughty Dog were dissapointed with how 'The Final Frontier' was the last Jak game. They agree that fans deserved a better send off. So it's probably gets brought up all the time. However, we still haven't heard anything about this game being developed. I guess one issue is that only those people familiar with the old trilogy (which started way back in 2001) will want to buy a new Jak game. The new generation of gamers haven't heard of the series.
And it was a beautiful shift - Lot of nostalgia for Jak 2 (and I played that one first, then the first one second, haha was a bit of a change, like you put it)

That game is like a T-rated futuristic Grand Theft Auto and Haven City will always be one of the coolest sci-fi game environments ever made. Me too! I'm also 18 and still like every Jak game, well except for TLF.....but let's not start a topic about that xD the Precursor Legacy was a great open game with 2 awesome villains! (I hope Gol and Maia will return in a, in case there is going to be, new Jak game, since it's not really 100% clear if they're really dead ). Jak 2 was an awesome Sci-Fi city with lots of things to do and places to explore! Awesome missions and a very good story. It was also quite interesting...and quite a shock to see that Sandover Village later became Dead Town :o And my guess is that Misty Island became the Strip Mine. Jak 3 was also a great game, i loved the Wasteland desert and Spargus. Jak X was pretty cool too, but i don't think you can compare X with 2 or 3, but still it had it's nice things. I hope Naughty Dog is going to work on Jak in the (near) future! :)
Lol I'm 24 and Jak 2 is probably one of my favourite games ever (certainly best in the series). Although I must have been about 13 when I first played it, I remember getting it immediately when it came out cause I was quite the fan of the first game. I love the setting, the challenge, the characters. Difficulty is a bit dim in Jak 1 and 3 which takes away from the replay value and makes them less interesting IMO. Still all great games though. For what it's worth I like TLF aswell, not as bad as people make it out to be. Really hoping we'll get a Jak 4 this console generation! xD
It must be the age group because I'm 17 and put the trilogy as my favourite games!! If a 4th one comes out or an anniversary thing like the halo game i would totally buy a PS4 for that.
Btw, the HD trilogy was pretty much released around the 10th anniversary of the first game. So I don't think we'll see them 'upgraded' again any time soon, but Jak 4 is starting to look more likely. :)
I really loved "The Shadow" in Jak 2. It showed Samos as a more nice, kind and understanding man...it's obvious Samos didn't want to go to the past...he left everything behind for Jak. Showed how much he sacrificed.

I played the Jak & Daxter games as they were released and I still remember how my jaw dropped when I heard Jak talking for the first time and later when they handed me a weapon in a platform game. Naughty Dog was never afraid of breaking the mold in order to surprise us and I honestly can say that for me it worked every single time. Now I can only hope they release another Jak & Daxter masterpiece soon.
The Jak and Daxter trilogy aged with its audience beautifully. Jak and Daxter was a lighthearted kid's game, Jak 2 took a turn for the edgy puberty-battered teen vibe (Not a bad thing, either), then Jak 3 leveled off with a more realistic level-headed adult vibe.
They could create a second trilogy in which Jak travels back in time to become his alter ego Mar. We would learn the origins of Haven City, The Precursor Stone and the rise of Baron Praxis. A prequel of the sorts.

the thing that probably makes me the most sad about jak 2, is that after they go through the rift rider. the villagers in sandover are just left to fend for themselves.i know its years in the future and they were gonna wind up dead anyway, but to know they most likely died or suffered at the hands of the metal heads is really depressing. whenever i think about the village after jak and everyone left, i always think about how lonely his "uncle" must be (if he survived).he didn't even get to say goodbye, and he raised him. p.s. it really sucks that he and the other villagers are never even mentioned again[I know when naughty dog made TPL they thought the sequel would follow closely with the original at the time, but with the conflicting story line in jak2 they had to basically give his uncle the axe but, i like to believe when samos brought jak to sandover the explorer took him in and named him.]

I've got so many favorite lines from all these games, though it was probably that whole interaction with the Warrior in Jak and Daxter that stands out to me. Especially 19:53-20:11 Daxter's response was stone-cold! lol

When I was younger I thought Jak was his own grandfather and Damas was a inbred daddy. Now it seems that the Mar Dynasty stretches way back in time. So even if Jak is his own ancestor it's not weird since it's so distant in his bloodline. Also I think there were likely dozens of ancestors to Mar but they were probably assassinated by the Krimzon Guard. In the real world entire bloodlines were executed by revolutionaries to end their regimes. When the last king died, there was a power struggle as to who would have the crown. Damas was the last recipient for the crown, and fled to the wasteland to avert execution. The only question left unanswered is who Jak's mother would be. I believe it is Onin, because she says "it is good to see you again, Jak" even though they had never meet before. They are also both mute and use animals to communicate. (That one is just my own personal theory but it makes the most sense.)
Jak is Mar, as an adult he traveled back in time which is where he began his own bloodline. It can't be incest because that would insinuate they were two different people.

I really didn't care for the 1st one THAT much, but when 2 came out I got HOOKED! I loved all the weapons we got in that one. The only one I REALLY finished was the 3rd one. Lol.
It's such a shame because when I first saw the ending for Jak3, I thought they were setting up Jak as being the First Mar who built Haven City . That Jak went into the past to build the first dynasty and Haven city. They mentioned "but dude, there are like way more challenges in the future" , "or was it the past? " . I loved this trilogy for it's story, more than it's gameplay. But they didn't have anymore funding so they tried bringing interest back with Jak and Daxter :The lost frontier.... Such a waste of good story telling. Opting for a modern day Jak And Daxter continuing the original concept...would be amazing .
I'm really happy Naughty Dog let Jack and Daxter live a fantastic life and die in peace. We don't need a half-hearted follow up to one of the best trilogies of all time.
Fun fact: Naughty Dog said that they will make another Jak and Daxter game in 2013 but instead they made The Last of Us (even the main characters in both games are quite simillar). So thats hinting that Naughty Dog hasnt forgotten and abandoned Jak and Daxter. Theres still hope that they will revive the franchise after the mess Jak X and The Last Frontier made.
I actually enjoyed Jak X as a spin off, showed that Jak took some time off to do what he can do best - race. How The Last Frontier ever made it into the stores is beyond me though.

When I compare these main three PS2 trilogies; how they look anyway: Jak games have the best movement, animation, smooth polygons, fluidity. Ratchet and Clank games have the best details, textures, lighting, FX. And the Sly games have the best style, colour, cel-shading, character design, expressions. I mean, they all do really well in each of those, but I think those are the strengths
played since i was 3 on the ps2, havnt played any since jak X in 2008 ish, memories man. one of the greatest series for me, ratchet and clank is up there too.
The voice actor for Jak in the first game provided most of the voices for the characters in this game. He also voices Gordon Freeman, Link, and the Rookie.

I remember watching my older brother playing all three games on his old ps2 in our basement, all of us just sitting around watching the gameplay. Good memories, and I hope one day this series could continue.

Damas was the last recipient for the crown, and fled to the wasteland to avert execution.
The only question left unanswered is who Jak's mother would be. I believe it is Onin, because she says "it is good to see you again, Jak" even though they had never meet before. They are also both mute and use animals to communicate. (That one is just my own personal theory but it makes the most sense.)
Jak is Mar, as an adult he traveled back in time which is where he began his own bloodline. It can't be incest because that would insinuate they were two different people.

It's such a shame because when I first saw the ending for Jak3, I thought they were setting up Jak as being the First Mar who built Haven City .
That Jak went into the past to build the first dynasty and Haven city. They mentioned "but dude, there are like way more challenges in the future" , "or was it the past? " .
I loved this trilogy for it's story, more than it's gameplay. But they didn't have anymore funding so they tried bringing interest back with Jak and Daxter :The lost frontier....
Such a waste of good story telling. Opting for a modern day Jak And Daxter continuing the original concept...would be amazing .

When I was 9 years old, Jak and Daxter was the very first PS2 game I ever played... the nostalgia is so very real!

Damas' death was a seriously traumatic part of my childhood. Like, damn that hurt.
Fun fact: Naughty Dog said that they will make another Jak and Daxter game in 2013 but instead they made The Last of Us (even the main characters in both games are quite simillar). So thats hinting that Naughty Dog hasnt forgotten and abandoned Jak and Daxter. Theres still hope that they will revive the franchise after the mess Jak X and The Last Frontier made.

I actually enjoyed Jak X as a spin off, showed that Jak took some time off to do what he can do best - race. How The Last Frontier ever made it into the stores is beyond me though.

When I compare these main three PS2 trilogies; how they look anyway:
Jak games have the best movement, animation, smooth polygons, fluidity.
Ratchet and Clank games have the best details, textures, lighting, FX.
And the Sly games have the best style, colour, cel-shading, character design, expressions.
I mean, they all do really well in each of those, but I think those are the strengths

The voice actor for Jak in the first game provided most of the voices for the characters in this game. He also voices Gordon Freeman, Link, and the Rookie.
