- It’s a pleasure to introduce Mr. Goro of Hair Craft Goro in Tokyo, Japan, for a relaxing traditional hot towel shave 💈 Goro, his nickname since youth, started barbering at the age of 16. He trained in men's and women's hair. At 20, Goro was promoted to store manager where he worked 8 years before opening his own barbershop on the outskirts of Tokyo in 1998.
The ideas for the interior of his shop were conceived over several years before evolving into its current form, but many ideas Goro started sketching out in the 90s. You can still see the resemblance of his drawings to the current shop interior.
Hair Craft Goro is a cozy homey barbershop, more like a cafe!
In the back of the barbershop, Goro has a kitchen area where, after filming, he made us the most delicious homemade pizza topped with his homemade balsamic vinegar 🍕 He makes awesome desserts too 😍
Baking started as a hobby for him around 10 years ago. Goro is really into organic healthy foods so likes to make his food from scratch. He enthusiastically showed us his organic flours from around the world :)
He is fond of herbs and spices and grows an urban herb garden in front of his shop. Arugula, mint, fennel, rosemary and strawberries growing in tubs, pots, and cracks in the sidewalk 🪴 Yes, he actually uses them in his cooking!
He enjoys making pizza and studied bread making from an English cookbook 📚 Heavily noted in Japanese.
Although, Goro says he doesn’t eat as much as he cooks! He loves seeing and hearing the reactions of people eating his dishes ❤️ His customers may arrive for a haircut, but leave fully fed and satisfied!

For some reason I find the shaving videos far more relaxing than the haircut videos.

Never stop doing haircuts and shaves. You have a perfect ratio of both. I like both in different ways. My favorite part of shaving videos is when they double check their work and search for hairs they may have missed
I don't know why either but I really enjoy watching men get a shave it's very relaxing.
There are very few ppl which immediately get the thumbs up before even having watched the video. Keep that beard growing for those shaves coming :)

I shaved earlier and it was like Sweeney Todd had got his hands on me lol. These guys take barber skills to a whole other level.
As for my favorite parts of the videos, I get the most ASMR from things like them putting the cape over Harry...And I really love it when they're fukking around with the drawers looking for stuff

Not very common to have a barber that also doubles as a cook. Goro sounds like a good dude. No matter where you go, the content is always exceptional, but there is something special about the videos from Japan 😊
In 1800s rural America, barbers were also the local undertaker, surgeon, and dentist.

Shaving the forehead is very interesting originally is was done to make the application of makeup easier. In Japan men started wearing makeup in the 17th Century, Women shaved for the same reason.
