It’s a pleasure to share another video with Mr. Goro in Tokyo, Japan! Did you already see the hot towel shave video 👉🏼 • 💈 A Relaxing Shave In ...
Goro, his nickname since youth, started barbering at the age of 16. He trained in men's and women's hair. At 20, Goro was promoted to store manager where he worked 8 years before opening his barbershop on the outskirts of Tokyo in 1998.
The ideas for the interior of his shop were conceived over several years before evolving into its current form, but many ideas Goro started sketching out in the 90s. You can still see the resemblance of his drawings to the current shop interior.
Hair Craft Goro is a cozy homey barbershop, more like a cafe! You’ll spot vintage Pyrex bowls, dried herbs from the garden, Tartine bread baking books, and a French linen dish towel Goro loves using to dry his glassware!
In the back of the barbershop, Goro has a kitchen area where, after filming, he made us the most delicious homemade pizza topped with his homemade balsamic vinegar 🍕 He makes awesome desserts too 😍
Baking started as a hobby for him around 10 years ago. Goro is really into organic healthy foods so likes to make his food from scratch. He enthusiastically showed us his organic flours from around the world :)
Being fond of herbs and spices, he grows an urban herb garden in front of his shop. Arugula, mint, fennel, rosemary and strawberries 🍓 grow in tubs, pots, and cracks in the sidewalk 🪴 Yes, he actually uses them in his cooking!
He especially enjoys making pizza and studied bread making from an English cookbook 📚 Heavily noted in Japanese.
Although, Goro says he doesn’t eat as much as he cooks! He loves seeing and hearing the reactions of people eating his dishes ❤️ His customers may arrive for a haircut, but leave fully fed and satisfied!

I liked the casual style. We mostly see him with formal. It’s nice to see different style for a change.
I love how he mixed two different hair products for formal style: a paste/wax and waterbased pomade. Paste/wax used for creating texture while waterbased pomade adds hold and give shine look.
I like the formal look, but the casual look was pretty cool because we got to see "Relaxed Harry." The setting here is great. I even loved Mr. Goro's shirt .

I think this man has spent 10,000 hours easy. In other words, a master!
Harry a very interesting side trip you might consider while you are in Japan is to go to one of the blade Smiths that make traditional Japanese Kamisori straight razors. Barbers in both South Korea, and Japan have used this style of straight razor on you. How they are hand forged and sharpened is fascinating.
As a hairdresser the way we co enjoy the massage as if we are having it as well as keeping eye open in between checking if client is enjoying it as much as ours is so hairdresser to hairdresser's innate quality we developed❤❤❤
