Angron, sometimes called the "Red Angel," and originally named Angronius of Nuceria, the "Lord of the Red Sands," is the primarch of the World Eaters Traitor Legion.
He was the most savage of the primarchs. When Horus began his rebellion against the Emperor, Angron was quick to join in his treachery because of his long-lasting grudge against the Master of Mankind, but his only true master was the rage within him.
He fell to Chaos during the Horus Heresy and was transformed into a Daemon Prince in the campaign known as the Shadow Crusade before that conflict had ended.

Bricky, you missed the best Angron quote: "Childish? The people of your world named you Great One. The people of mine called me Slave. Which one of us landed on a paradise of civilisation to be raised by a foster father, Roboute? Which one was given armies to lead after training in the halls of the Macraggian high-riders? Which one of us inherited a strong cultured kingdom?
And which one of us had to rise up against a kingdom with nothing but a horde of starving slaves? Which one of us was a child enslaved on a world of monsters, with his brain cut up by carving knives?
Listen to your blue-clad wretches yelling of courage and honour, courage and honour, courage and honour. Do you even know the meaning of those words? Courage is fighting the kingdom that enslaves you, no matter that their armies overshadow yours by ten thousand to one. You know nothing of courage. Honour is resisting a tyrant when all others suckle and grow fat on the hypocrisy of others. You know nothing of honour."

The World Eaters got their name after Angron was introduced to the War Hounds officers when Kharne calmed him down. When Kharne went introduced Angron to the World Eater officers, he did so so with the phrase: Salute those whose soldiers were named the Eaters of Cities
One of the officers, Captain Dreagher, said the following:
*Primarch! General! Your warriors were eaters of cities, lord, but with you to command us the War Hounds will be eaters of worlds!*

I personally don’t believe he made a direct deal with chaos, as he planned to betray them and keep his sons to himself. Both out of love (because he did have that) and to keep humanity from dealing with chaos primarchs. However the gods throwing them onto planets and corrupting them I see as big E realizing he was going to be unable to save all of them and thus if someone was beyond saving he treated them like shit.

So, on the battle between Angron and Russ, the reason why they both say they won is because Angron beat the absolute crap out of Russ and almost killed him in the 1v1, but in the army battle the Wolves surrounded and defeated the World Eaters. So while Angron won the duel, the Wolves won the battle.
Also, I'm disappointed that they didn't talk about Angron's original psychic ability either.

Also from what I remember that was pretty much Russ's plan. Not excatly getting beat up, but he didn't think he could defeat Angorn easily or he didn't want to. He wanted to show him that his blind anger makes him loose sight of bigger picture. So Russ succeded in his plan, but failed to sway Angorn and change his ways.
This is a thing about the Wolves. They sound and look like run of the mill all about CQC idiots. Which they are not excatly. Probably biggest CQC monsters on Loyalist side are Blood Angels. Wolves are more about hunting you down.

Leman is that one guy who talks big about how tough he is and all that good stuff, but the moment he has to put up he gets folded like an omlette. Turns out, the story of the Primarchs being the Emperor's sons is just that. A story, told to soothe the masses, like so many other stories told by the Imperium's propagandists.
The Emperor on the Golden Throne is little more than the rotting corpse of a dictator, and like all dictators throughout history, he used his position and power to abuse all around him and further his own ends. He twisted the very genetics of humanity into the super-human Primarchs and their Space Marines, manipulated them into leading his armies of conquest, and his concealment of the true nature of reality and Chaos left _so_ many of the Primarchs _undefended_ against its temptations.
The Emperor is no god. He was but a man. And like all men, he made _so_ many mistakes during his life. Unlike all other men, however, the Emperor's power and reach gave his mistakes much graver consequences for all of humanity.

@@LexYeen The emperor is a literal actual amalgamation of humanities will to survive. Without him humanity would have been harvested by gross ass space elves as slaves or eaten by daemons. He was fighting an enemy that grows more powerful and has more influence the more aware people are of it. If no one knows about chaos and no one prays to chaos related entities then chaos pacifies and goes back to being a reflection of the collective psyche of life, an endless dreamscape of kaleidoscope perception. The chaos gods would cease having names, and go back to just being representative forces.
But its 40k, and were all going to die. There is no good end, so regardless of whatever complicated overarching plan the emperor had that involves all these little maniplations and large scale atrocities, the end is all things cease. But that's the point, we're all gonna die, its all over before it began, a forgone conclusion. So die fighting, because there is nothing else to do.

And given how the Nails are archeotech, the kind that gave *Malcador* _a hard time_ understanding, I'm confident that the Nails ensured that the pain and suffering is one that's only similar to war, battle, murder and bloodshed.

Emps being such an absolute bastard for absolutely no reason is so beyond stupid it almost entirely ruins this story, even more than Angron being such a miserable failure of a Primarch and being the only one of his brothers to fail to conquer his homeworld (Primarchs are bulletproof, no mortal army should have sufficed). This is still a tragic tale of misery, pointless cruelty, and failure, but the nonsensical bullshit that had to happen to make it come together kinda sours it.
Angron very easily could have been my favorite traitor Primarch, if I could believe the circumstances that lead up to the creation of his fate. There are just too many issues; why is Angron so weak that an army of mortals armed with tech the Imperium didn't consider worthy of note could defeat him? How did he get captured in the first place when infant Primarchs are capable of killing squads of armed men and shattering steel? Why was the Emperor so pointlessly cruel to Angron when he could have easily helped him and cemented his loyalty for it? So many writing failures that snuff out his potential before he ever had a chance, turning him from easily the best to easily the most pathetic Primarch.
