    Sociopathy or being a sociopath is something that is misinterpreted quite a bit. Sociopathy is a scale measuring how much you can suppress your emotions to "manipulate" someone else. Dr. K says Kitboga would test highly on a sociopathy scale, but so would Dr. K as he is a psychiatrist.
    In this video, Dr. K talks to Kitboga about sociopathy and sociopaths.

    This is how I imagine Batman having a therapy session would go. And it's not even a joke. In order for someone to deal with sociopaths, you kind of have to take a dip into the sociopathy pool... but Batman full on takes his insanity and uses it against the bad guys. Batman deals with the villains by pure empathy. Kitboga's entire MO is empathy, and using said empathy against those that are willing to abuse it.

      I can't help but think that there is a weird perverse fascination with this. Like yes, raising awareness is one thing, but kit takes it farther. Early on he seemed to be looking for recognition from the scammer that they were hurting and taking advantage of others and kit wanted to hear remorse, which he seldom got. Now it just seems to be an issue of "twisting the knife". Watch as I fool this stupid criminal, tease what they want, and then take it away.

      Psychology is the study of the behavior itself.
      .
      Both fields have a lot of value. My biggest appeal to neuropsychology is that it is more scientific, taking psychology's flimsiest aspects and adding validity to them.
      .
      A psychologist might diagnose a child with ADHD because the child acted out certain behaviors that may or may not just be normal things children that age do. A neuropsychologist would give someone an MRI before diagnosing them with ADHD to prove without a shadow of a doubt that that is indeed the issue before moving forward.

    The key problem in diagnosing Kit as a “predator” (outside of the evil implications of the phrase alone) is that Kit is not the one setting the actual victim-creating traps here. Instead he’s merely identifying the traps intended for other people and setting them to backfire. These people are trying to prey on HIM and he flips the script. Self defense is not predation. I can’t believe so much of this was spent trying to get Kit to question his own ethics when there is nothing remotely unethical about wasting a scammers time in a goofy way and shaming the perpetrators by making them look foolish. He isn’t doxxing them. The only ones who know they were made fools are the scammers themselves. Their lives aren’t ruined in the way their own victims’ would be. His methods are just about the least consequential way you can potentially get through to someone who does evil despicable things outside of divine intervention.

    • @Azurvix
      @Azurvix Před 4 lety +20

      I see what you're saying but I still side with what he said. It's not really defense if he's going into the situation already knowing that he's messing with them. It's more akin to fencing where kit already knows ALL of his opponent's moves and knows how to parry them without fail

    • @elbowonfire
      @elbowonfire Před 4 lety +61

      Oscar Rojas at the end of the day, “predator” is a charged term that implies that Kit seeks the thrill of preying on people in general and uses the fact that these scammers are bad as an excuse to act on that urge. (Like Dexter or something lol). The interviewer *knows* this is the implication and only makes the comparison to see how Kit reacts to the accusation. He admits to that motive a couple times. What rubs me the wrong way about this vid is that it never felt like an exchange of ideas or a conversation about sociopathy so much as it felt like a subtle interrogation or some kind of mind-game. I don’t know this channel or the context for why Kit was on (an intro could’ve helped me there) but unless it was built on Kit stating he he had emotional baggage he wanted help sorting through it felt like these questions were formatted in really pointed ways

    On Sociopathy, and Psychiatry: I am a a psychiatrist with hyper empathy. I have chosen to work very limited hours to avoid burnout. I’m also a good psychiatrist. My affective empathy informs me about how people are feeling. I’ve learned to use it to my advantage in my work. Nevertheless I still get exhausted and emotionally drained even though I am able to feel the feelings and not take them on as deeply as I used to years ago.
    I am also autistic. Self diagnosed (confirmed by professionals), late, after my daughter was diagnosed at age 7. Trying to understand her and get help made me learn about girls and women on the autism spectrum. She has a demand avoidant profile. There was a lot of gaslighting and blame by mental HC providers before I found professionals who understood autism in girls and especially pathological demand avoidance. Hyper empathy is common in woman on the spectrum. And men who present with the more “ female” phenotype.

      This video is bizarre, it seems like the doctor is hellbent on proving that finding enjoyment in seeing a bad person fail, or tricking them into failing, makes you an evil person when really I don't know why that would be the case. Maybe the most enlightened monk could feel the same empathy for the most evil criminal and the most innocent child but I think it's normal to feel good about seeing someone fail at doing something despicable, and keeping them from doing it to someone else, and educating more. It's when people are deceptive and manipulative in all aspects of their regular lives that a label like "sociopath" becomes appropriate. Unless Kitboga is calling his mom pretending to be 4 different people to get her to order the food he wants I call BS.

      @@GMODISM He's not an interviewer, he's a psychiatrist - the nature of these talks is kind of like a public broadcast therapy session/diagnosis of the streamers mental health and psyche - Dr.K tends to approach most of these talks with a very playful and open nature, so sometimes he seems flippant or dismissive, but normally he's using this as a means to disarm someone's precognition about who they think they are or what their actions represent, allowing them to consider themselves from a new perspective which could help develop growth/meaningful reflection.
      Like most psychiatrists he does have a tendency to lead the 'patient' towards the conclusions he's making, but normally by the end of the videos you see that he did get a pretty good grasp on the nature of how people feel/think beneath the surface, below the logical constructs that give narrative reason to their behaviours.

  • @XyphileousLF
    @XyphileousLF Před 4 lety +23

    The cut at 45:30 was actually painful. I've been reading the comments while watching and I think this exact moment is perfectly emblematic of the two main problems people have with this video. Dr. K give a great breakdown that Kit is supporting but right after the thesis is finished with a rather large capstone we don't get to see the person the thesis is predicated around/upon respond. It was such a deep dig and regardless of the context it's very hard to get a social grasp of the situation when it's cut into the beginning of another deep dig that throws Kit for a loop at it's onset.
    I'm not saying DR. K is unfounded in his questions or views, or that Kit was verbally beaten in this conversation, but I do feel like I've missed out on some of the most important information of this exchange, and can't trust the takes DR. K makes because I don't know the context they are being made in, this really undermines the thought that a report is developed and that Kit is being anything more than semi-consensually mentally dissected.
    I really like the concept of the heart of darkness, as it can be used as a tool for understanding one's ethical weaknesses as well as empowering oneself. Seeking Dr. K build up an idea of Kit's and then not see his response really threw away what I came to be most invested in over the course of the talk.

    I found this by "accident". I am an adult (57). It was nice to see Kit put himself in a vulnerable position. As far as the sociopathy/ callousnessness..I call it " compartmentalizing. I was a pediatric oncology nurse/ end of life care. It was extremely taxing on my mental health. I am an empath and every child/ parent was treated like my own. When I left work at the end of my shift, I intentionally went through that door and left that all behind until the next shift. Recently, on one of kit's streams, a scammer had changed, energetically..positive, " upbeat" to extremely negative ( i felt an evil- ness emanating from him) it seriously hit me in the gut and left me overwhelmed. I had to turn it off and do a grounding meditation! So, becoming callous becomes understandable in Kit's case. I give him a ton of credit for " allowing" the scum scream and berate and disrespect his many characters, as well as himself. He still remains good at heart. A son his parents can be very proud of. Im sorry for the wordiness. It needed to be put out there. He is not a bad guy. Computer geek..yes. Anyone that is a Spock fan is alright in my own geeky book. 🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🤙🖖🖖🖖🤙 luv you kit! His feeling for his child is a very common parental feeling...no one wants their child to feel that devastation coming out of nowhere all of a sudden. He can relate it to something that comes from his past and I hope he shared this with both of his children so they they could see what their behavior did to each other.

I read sympathy is you are able to share people's feelings, so if they feel bad you feel bad and if they feel happy you feel happy and empathy is more like a deeper understanding of why the person is feeling the way they feel on a deeper level. Like to the point you can feel like you can "put yourself in their shoes."

I do not think this guy is asking his questions in a manner that is clear and concise and it seems he is totally attributing meaning to words and not context. It is probably a result of super bad editing, but it sure undercuts this guy's expertise. Simple answer is that Kit empathizes with the victims of the scams, not the scammers, though he does sympathize with the scammers as people, which is why he still always tries to lead them to the right path. This guy doesn't seem to understand the dynamics of what Kitboga does and is seemingly responding on the basis of a false perception of the whole thing. Of course he isn't feeling fear in response to their threats, because he knows that for one thing he's playing a vulnerable character that the scammers are threatening, not himself, and besides that, he's aware of the fact that the scammers cannot do anything and are simply ACTUAL sociopaths or psychopaths who are powerless and desperate to feel as though they have power over someone, especially when they might make money at the same time.
    He misspoke when he said he became callous. He was actually saying that he has become accustomed as anyone would to hearing the ridiculous and outrageous things that scammers say in order to try and get money from people. It's shocking to everybody BESIDES sociopaths and psychopaths to begin with. It BECOMES something that normal people become accustomed to hearing and not taking seriously because of the aforementioned reality that the scammers cannot really do anything they threaten to do, and therefore there isn't any real intention on their part to do those things and Kitboga is aware of that. It's basically the same thing as a child pointing a toy gun at you and firing it so that it makes a noise or shoots a foam dart. You know it doesn't have any ability to harm you, but maybe the first time it ever happened to you in your life, you weren't aware of that. You wouldn't say someone had "become callous" because they are no longer concerned about the toy gun being fired at them as they may have been the first time it happened.
