In this video, I had to do a little altitude adjustment to the '55. Can we get it low enough? Also, checking things off of the list, starting with patch panels in the trunk.

Looking good Brad. A little bit at a time is good. Better than none.
Thanks Mike. I'm getting closer but need to pick up the pace.
Neat stuff. Enjoyed watching the progress ✌️ 😎
Thanks man! I appreciate you always watching and commenting!
Great progress!
Thank you!
Just found you... Great stuff.. ! Working and welding on my 55 now...... Problem is that it is so darn hot out here in CA now I have to stop at 11 am... Too hot... At age 63 I can't power through it like I used to do.. . Only 111 F today.....
Your daughters graduation is more important than the car and so is taking care of yourself. You will get there eventually Brad. Hole repair looks great and yes I was thinking the same thing as another person said about the lip trimming. Cut it and reinforce it with round rod.
Thanks Gorni, I might have to give that a try.
Looking good Bud, Do what you can, Family first 👍 Now get the Car done 😂👍
Thanks Lonnie!
Lookin good Brads, nice work! Keep on Mobbin!
You bet brother. Thanks!
Lovin' the stance. Got just enough wheel and tire tucked above the fender lip and the fender opening filled up. The work patching the trunk looks great. Look forward to more on the '55. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks Brian!!!
The lowing blocks look great , and the patch panels look good too, nice work brad …. It coming together fine …
Slowly but surely. Thanks David!
Looking good ! I must say I do like your music choices. Many thanks. ps: Moose is cool .
Thanks Bob. It is not easy finding decent music that you can use. Glad to you like it. Moose says thanks as well.
You can only do as much as life lets you. I finally drove mine today after 4 years working on it. It was suppose to be a 1 year project. Great to see moose back in the picture. Glad your medical procedure went well and enjoy you daughters graduation
Thanks man. Congrats on the drive. THAT. IS. AWESOME!
Awesome video Brad, get back to it as soon as your ready. Take care my Friend 🫵🏼💯🆒
Thank you!
GO GET THEM MOOSE !!! Looks GOOD !!!
Thanks Richard!
Love the car! Before you button up for RMRW, double check the thread engagement in to your rear lug nuts. Hard to tell from what I saw in the video, but those wheels are thick and the tech inspectors at the track may not like it.
1/2" diameter stud needs to have at least 1/2" of thread engagement into the "hex" portion of the lug nut.
Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for looking out for me man. I am aware of that rule. The 3" studs were plenty long on the front wheels, so I assumed they'd be good on the back. I did measure, and they do go in beyond the 1/2" required, so I should be good.
A long way to go and a short amount of time to get there
Yep, getting shorter every day. Still hopeful....
In the trunk like your sneaking into a drive in movie.
Haha yep. I think I may have been involved in something like that WAAAYYYY back in the day!
Progress is progress. Good call to use the perch from Calvert. I used some perches like you had on there initially on my Nova and it curled them up the back side of the axle tube. Replaced them with the perch from Calvert and never had an issue again. Try jacking the frame up higher before you put it on jack stands to take the tires on and off as it will help to be higher. Mob on....
Thanks man. Good to know about the perches. I'll try a bit higher next time, I just get a bit sketched out with the car balancing on the jack as I raise it that high, so didn't want to go higher than needed.
Looking awesome. I think when you start driving it with fuel and all the other weight on the chassis, the car will settle a little more and lower the rear of the car. Hope the shoulder is getting better, not sure what the medical procedure is, but hope for a quick recovery. Family first, even if it slows you down. Love seeing your progress. I need to get motivated to do a little something on mine. Like you said, sux getting old and I have several years on you, so I feel your pain. 😁
Thanks as always Terry. I hope I actually get to drive it someday and help the suspension settle haha. Hope you are back out wrenching on yours.
My kids and l always appreciate Moose, 1 of ours is just like him! The car looks great and is sitting just right! I still can't get over how good those Drag Stars look! It still makes me cringe watching you wrastle those tires into the wheelwells though! I have the same problem and mine currently don't fit 🙄🙄🙄. Take care and keep up the great work!
Yeah, just another reason to never paint this thing I guess. (Like I will ever get to that anyways...) Thanks for always watching and all the kind words.
You going to have it ready for Power Tour
Trying to have it ready for RMRW at the end of June. It's gonna be tight....
Brad hope the medical went good . That 55 looking good any bigger tire your going to need a vacuum pump roll bar panels looks good have a good one
Medical went all good. I'm not following the correlation between the bigger tire and the vacuum pump? Care to school me? Thanks Dave!
@@MontanaGarage just joking on the vacuum pump it would suck all the air out making the tire smaller
@@davesaylor5135 Ahh got it. Might actually be helpful haha.
Very 😎
👊👊👊
Moose says "Snow in April? I'll stay inside thank you very much "
Haha right? I am so glad the snow is over, hopefully...
Have you considered trimming the quarter panel inner lip roll? Maybe that little bit will help a lot?
That's a good idea. It might help a bit, so maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks for watching.
Wow that's a lot of work to take a tire off I think it will look good how ever low or high it sits, that going to be very nice 55
The price you gotta pay for big tires and stock wheel opening. It's worth every second as far as I'm concerned. Thanks!
lookin good , 3 m makes those sanding belts they last longer than the h f ones, pinion angle around 1 1/2 degrees down should be fine, hope things go well for you!!
Thanks for the tip. I haven't been able to find this particular size. Not sure if I bought an odd ball one or what. I'll check into the 3m ones for sure.
Love the Build ! NAILED the Stance !! Question, If you loose air pressure in a rear tire while driving will the Cal Trac dig into the pavement? Something to check.. Rock MTN Race Week here we come !!
Thanks man. I "think" I'd be ok, but I'll have to check that out for sure. Still shooting for RMRW, but it's not looking good at this point. I'll keep plugging away and hope I can make it happen.
Moose is like -Nope, not today. 😂 Hope the medical procedure isn’t anything too serious, goes well and you’re not down too long. Congratulations to your daughter on the graduation. You got this man!
Thanks man. I survived the medical procedure, and Moose survived the end of winter. Heading to graduation in a couple days, then back to the grind, literally...
A lot of guys would love to be in your shoes brother
I bet that's true. I am a lucky man for sure. Thanks man!
Looking good. You have motivated me to start my resto last drivin in 2011 according to my plate. Quick question can’t seem to find the video of getting it down to bare metal. How’d ya do it… cheers
Thanks for watching and good luck with your project! I think I mostly stripped the car down before I was making videos. I just did it with 80 grit sandpaper on a DA sander. I may actually have some footage of doing the front clip that I haven't shown yet, so stay tuned for that.
It's already April 2 in Montana? I didn't know the International Date Line was in the USA. (LOL)
We're a little behind the times here. Heck, as far as you know I might be driving this dang car already!
Slow and steady, wins the race. Sometimes there just don't seem to be enough hours in a day. And I sure hope you have AAA, as I would hate to have to change a rear flat tire on the side of a busy highway. Lord knows I have done some scary tire changes on the side of the road. Thanks for the video
I HOPE U HAVE BRAKES install when checked changing ties
Thanks Dave. Yeah, I don't think changing tires roadside is something I would want to do to often.
Yep Scott, brakes were in there!
Waiting to see how you do your rear brake lines. I stare at the frame and the rear end and still haven't come up with a great way. Will probably have a fitting bolted to the shock bar or the 3rd member. You probably already have it done. You didn't get that much snow on May 1st.
Yep, brakes are done. Hopefully I'll get the video out soon so you can see how I did it. I stared at mine for a long while too, but finally came up with a plan and decided o roll with it. So, as usual, my way might not be the right way, but hopefully it'll give you some idea at least.
I laughed at Mosse not going out into the snow ... my cat is a dainty female and she is NOT a fan of snow at all!
Yeah he wasn't into it that day for sure. Thanks for watching.
I have agreed with most of your doings on this project until now. Your traction bars are lower than the rim edge if you have a flat. So when you have a flat you are stuck where it sits or dragging metal off.
Thanks Jeff. Yeah, that isn't ideal I am sure. I looked and the DDSS '57 is the same way, and it isn't even lowered so maybe it is not that uncommon. Fingers crossed I don't have too many tire issues I guess.
Hey Brad, what’s your plan for paint or you thinking primer? 🤔
Primer for now, paint maybe someday, maybe not. Who knows. Just wanna drive the dang thing!
I just retired from doing auto body and painting for 45 years .
I bet I could learn a thing or two from you! Thanks for watching!
Hang in there brother, you know how to eat an elephant?
Yep, one piece at a time. Only problem I have is sometimes it takes me a week to take another bite! That is NOT going to work so gotta get busy, Thanks Keith.
