CPU Thermal Paste Patterns: Dot vs X

- Testing out the Dot vs X CPU thermal paste patterns with plexiglass that shows how the thermal paste spreads underneath the CPU cooler. Which thermal paste pattern is the best? See for yourself. The winner is the X.
The CPU tested is the Intel Core i5 13600K, but I expect this pattern of paste spreading to be similar on any CPU. Also note that due to the entropy from the constant pressure and high temperatures, ot is possible that even the circle pattern will eventually cover the entire CPU.
Lesson learned: both work great, but don't use too mucu thermal paste as it might overflow beyond the CPU lid.

So I think the x one would do a good job though not sure
So much misinformation…
I guess you have not realized yet that difference CPUs often have a different IHS flatness.
But hey you are a noob i dont expect real knowledge from you
Idk maybe we can ask Andrii Talks Tech. The dude you stole this idea from.
It makes absolutely no difference as long as you use enough and don't create air pockets.
He forgot to actually say what's better.

People who put the entire tube of thermal paste: I AM GOING SUB ZERO
Wtf 💀
@@JoeRoganTheBald69bro i had the same pfp like a yr ago on tiktok
I don't think that's how it works
I personally did a smaller and more central X pattern that covered the entire cpu perfectly.
He just copied Andrii Talks Tech and did a worse job
Yess!!! Small fat X patern is the absolute best!
I do an x and then put a dot on all of the openings
Works well so far
I worked as an EOS for DELL in FRANCE, we learn that the best patern is the spirale.

If you ask me its a square with an X and A Dot in the middle
There are only 3 patterns that are guaranteed to work perfectly with the right amount of thermal paste.
1. The spatula. Use the spatula to spread a perfect, thin layer all over the IHS, leaving about 1-2 mm from the edge.
2. The asterisk. Make an X and then cross the X with a +, but make sure to use slightly thinner lines than just an X.
3. The X. The X is the simplest way. It just works.
I use 9 small dots spread over the cpu
Just want to say that you're looking in great shape bro. Hard work in the gym has been paying ofd
I personally Do A Square With An X And A Dot In The Middle
I have never known how much paste a cpu needs
me neither, I'm struggling with applying thermal paste for the second time now xd

Recently my machines' annual clean and dust came up. Gave everything a good clean plus dusting, and applied fresh thermal paste onto my CPU (i5-11600K). I used an X patten with a small border around it, and it's working great 😁
Bro, looking big on that green light sweater
Remember: too much is always better than not enough.
Do Three lines
When the computer geek decides to get swole.
if you cpu is a rectangle then chose cross patern if your cpu is a square then the dot.
a dot like a pea is the best
I usually just spread it around myself. Most of the time as long as it's not a conductive thermal paste your fine
Mr yeester would love this vid
I highly respect Mr. Yeester! 🙌
@@arsenkay he is a good man
Id like to see a demo like this but with like 3 or 4 rows of 3 or 4 tiny drops maybe 1/4 the size of a pea or even a bit smaller spaced out evenly from each other. So basically like 9-12 super small dabs in rows.
You should spread it, that is the best way!!!
Buttered toast and then put a little tiny dot of thermal paste in the middle on the cpu. Best method
What is the clear plastic thing you are using to demonstrate?

Did you apply thermal paste?
Where do you place its on the Bottom and top of Icm?
What is alternative for termalpaste
Sir how to clean lenevo amd ryzen 3 cpu
The line is the best
Why wouldn’t you put some holes in that plastic and actually screw it down in a housing? To properly simulate a cooler?
Why do an X or dot pattern when you go spheroid
Can you make a video 4gb ram vs 8gb ram or other please.
Spread it with a spudger. Best coverage, best temperatures. Only way I’ve done it for the past 20 years.
I'm taking a google it course, HE SQEEGEED IT ALL OVER!!!
Do a 5 dots like the 5 side of a dice
The easiest way is to cut PTM7950 from the sheet and not to play with any dots, dashes or crosses 😏 and not to worry whether there will be too little or too much paste.
Your paste reveal please..
My Acer laptop still won’t connect to the internet, I’ve change 3 routers reset it network reset it reboot it and it still won’t work
Try reinstalling the "Network Interface Controller" Drivers For your specific laptop model from Acer Website
Well its dumb but you can buy internet antenna and connect it to your laptop via usb
what was the song used in the background
You like it?
@@arsenkay Yes, like a lot
Doesn’t really matter tbh because if the Intel cpu bending issue only really matters if you have the frame
I think the aim of using thermal paste is to cover the surface with the paste so that you get the lowest heat loss , I just use my spatula to make sure i cover all parts
I spread mine
It just reminds me "Mr Yeester"
Tested termal grizzly dispite recomandation very annoying paste doesen’t spred good at all, remembers me of artic silver 5 but even that worked better, old mx4 or 2 still better solutions
Small x patterns with dots
Spread the paste evenly over the cpu ihs.
X is worse because it coveres all the cpu
For amd circle, for intel x
what ur instagram?
The X works better for the new IHS design than the dot
I do dots like the 5 on a die.
What happens if theres a black spot in the pin of cpu? 😂
I do a 5 dot pattern
What about the smiley face? :(
Real pro's spread
No temperature results.
Wait. Which one is best?
The cross ones
Be a man and smear it everywhere with your finger. *Full coverage* amazing.
Can any exposure cause overheating?
Yes. It’s best to have maximum coverage but if there’s a tiny bit uncovered it should be fine. Long as it’s there and there’s enough.
he didn't even answer the question? wtf
Man great content again! Btw, do you workout?
x with dot
And the answer s: spread it very thinly and don't glob it in a pattern at all.
Spreading is good? :)
@@lucasgenolini3767 Spreading is good. Especially on AMD CPUs where the chiplets are a bit more spread.
@@1992jamo i see, I’ll put it on the cpu then I’ll spread it with a little spatula
@@lucasgenolini3767 While spreading gives the best results, it's very easy to apply too much. It has to be very thin.

The best is actually the # pattern. you're welcome.
that would be bad because it would trap air between the cooler plate and the center area, leading to air bubbles
W is better than these
This guy. LOL
Did u know that the cpu chip is only small and is in the middle so u don't actually need to cover the whole thing
Did you know that IHS means the heat gets spread? So it's best to spread the paste over the whole IHS.
Stop being lazy, spread it with spatula. Never had any problems whatsoever
It doesn't matter.
It does, dont go off this video there is 0 testing on the actual thermals.
I knew 25 years ago (by not being an idiot) that applying a layer yourself with the spatula covering the whole chip is the best. Not a damn pattern or dot!!!
