I’m still on 12th gen, which runs all newer games just fine at 100+ fps, so yes if you want good better performance go for these new 13th gen and 14th gen CPU’s but if you’d like to budget down and still be able to run games like rdr2, the 12th gen CPU’s are the way to go, atleast if your getting a pc which you built yourself so you can swap out the parts at a later date
I have the i5 13th gen, and my friend just got the i5 14th gen. He said it is the exact same except for a slightly higher overclock. Edit: he now benchmarked a few games at 1440p with a 3080 and he got some good results getting above 140 fps in most games at high to very high settings. I don't have a 3080 so we can't compare that.
well he gets around 15 fps more but because he has a better graphics card. He did separately test the CPU but it didn't get a much better result than me. I think it would be a waste of money for me, but for him it was worth it because his last CPU was the i3 7100, so a very big upgrade. He did mention that the GPU was a bit of a bottleneck for the CPU though.@@RAYX07
@@Jeboi96 a decimal overclock is going to make a difference, but it's going to bottleneck his GPU real bad especially at 1080p. Also, the difference is minimal, we got very similar scores in different CPU stress and benchmark tests.
Yes very good setup. But you would want to overclock the i5. Standard it has just 3.5 ghz. When you overclock you can easily run it at 5.4 ghz. You can play anything.
If you already have an i5 13600K (or even an i5 12600K), this is absolutely not worth it at all. If you are building an entirely new gaming PC like me, for only $30 more than the i5 13600K, the i5 14600K is an absolute no-brainer. This will be my CPU of choice!

If you have a 7700 sounds like you aren't updating every year or two. I would avoid Intel due to that and sit on the fence and see if am5 will be similar to am4 for next gen. The other thing to note is a 3600 handily beats a 9700 and has an upgrade paths to a 5800x3d which destroys an i9. All cheaper at launch and currently used or new. Intel has been a terrible choice for over 5 years and is living on name only.
if you're building an entirely new gaming PC you want the ryzen 7800x3d, and the 7900xt gpu stomps all over the 4070ti for 200 dollars less as well. intel is going HARD on paying for shills these days.

If you keep it stock yes. But this cpu is a beast in overclock. I run mine on 5.6 ghz. Its 3.5 ghz standard. I have no issues with heat what so ever. Alat this moment its faster in boost than the AMD cpu in boost and is 100 bucks cheaper.
The i5 line for sandy bridge and haswell were better than i7 for gaming and overall cost performance. Nothing to laugh at because you went i5 for peak performance in that regard. They also overlocked to 4.6 easily on air.
Not gonna build an LGA 1700 PC. Waiting for 15th gen's LGA 1851. That socket'll support upto 17th gen... So can't wait for them to get released. Or AMD, if they higher their core count like Intel, at least with a hybrid architecture like Intel's “Big.Little” design..

I am using an i7 11800k and I do not see myself updating for a long time because it does not bottleneck my GPU and the ridiculous GPU prices prohibit me updating the one I have so there could be a revolutionary leap in CPU technology and it just would not matter.
I am only now upgrading my pc from a 4th generation 4690k to the 12th gen version. I might not be running the most power hungry games or applications but the parts that had the most impact on performance were the gpu and storage and I have upgraded both and run my desktop like a dream.
Ik you loving that pc man. I’m getting a pc rtx 4070 super and i7 14700k in about a month and a half and it’s a huge upgrade from my gaming laptop with rtx 3050 and i5 10300f.
@deathstreaks6493 man, I love it! It was well worth it even if I only use it a few hours a day. If you plan on getting high FPS a high refresh rate monitor and want great graphics, I'd say the 4070 is more than enough! You're probably going to love the upgrade, have fun with it!
I love the i5, it often oc realy well. My old 12600k was able to oc to 5.3ghz @ 1.385v, upgraded to 13900ks to get 8 p-cores, but sadly my cpu is kinda bad binned and only hits 5.8ghz at 1.39v :-/

As a person who uses this, it hasnt doubled down. Its basically the same chip with some very minor adjustments. If you wanna save a tiny bit of money, just go of the 13th gen. Just my opinion tho, take it with a grain of salt.

If you both have a 1#600k processors then don't worry your friend gets 5-7 more fps than you do while using around 20-40 w more
