Wish you didn’t skip from $70 to $500, I think the $300 range is a really important budget sector for laptops and its extremely competitive
Or the $200 range even though it may not look like much
The 700 dollars and 1000 dollar range is also a big leap, but than this video would be really long.
Yep. I have a $250 laptop that has a Ryzen 5 and a FHD IPS Display, and a $1200 Lenovo with a Ryzen 7 and RX6800M D-GPU. But to be fair, the video is just giving a rough idea of some average laptops you can get at those price points, not comparing laptops at those price points. I do kind of wish they'd been a little bit more comparable, or kept the middle two (both of which are more reasonable prices a normal person might spend) within brand, like using the comparable AMD Lenovo Legion instead of MSI's Intel/nVidia version.
Should have also had the $127, $234 and $378 dollar ranges. No, wait, $454 as well. Any more?
@@norfabatonas You're missing the point. None of these laptops are "exactly" some price. However, there are some pretty big jumps along the way that these models miss. In particular, many models adopt at least IPS displays earlier, and the jump to a even a low-end dGPU makes a huge difference as well. In other words, the jumps should really be more by the major features, not necessarily price.

Just a quick note, the downward facing speakers are meant to be used with the laptop on a desk, they should sound much better that way, otherwise they loose some power and bass
I can attest to that,as I use my laptop on my bed which totally muffles the sound.
I still think though OEMs should provide front facing speakers on the sides and remove the numpad entirely instead.
I use a glass table and the speakers are damn LOUD so yea ur right
@Mihir Shetye I wish I lost my side speakers and got a numpad, it is just so much more important. If I want good audio, I'll use headphones
@@minion0470 Yeah, but personally I have no use for the numpad,in contrast it takes away valuable real estate when typing and of course leaving no space for side firing speakers.
@Mihir Shetye makes sense, I just have an unnecessary level of frustration whenever I try to enter an alt code and can't. Aparently, Framework has done market research and found a near 50/50 split in people wanting/not wanting numpads.
After watching this video, I bought the GT77HX. I have been using it for 2 months, and It really didn't disappoint me. Among all 4090 laptops I chose this because it itself is equipped with a 4K144Hz Mini-LED screen (I think it a pity if we don't go for 4K with 4090, but I don't want to go for an extra screen). Plus, it is safe. In my country, very few people can recognize this one. For most people this is just a heavy thick $1500- laptop. However, if I went for any Alienware it would be completely different. But I don't think anyone should sacrifice what they really wanted for the jealousy of others. That's not the reason why we buy a high-end laptop. Still, the per-key RGB keyboard is great, and you can customize it using SteelSeries GG. I set the keyboard RGB to respond to keypress by changing the key's color. It's really a nice experience! This laptop is well worth buying for anyone who would need it.

whats linux
@@fraggerfn1212 it is an operating system like windows, macos or android
it is free and open source meaning anyone can modify it and redistribute it and it's free
most web servers use it, also android and chromeos use it behind the scenes, and it has a pretty large community
though it does not run ms word or adobe photoshop or some games with drm
the steam deck runs linux also also
pretty nice overall but you need to choose the right distribution and desktop enviroment, because linux is not actually a single os but something other OSs use to work and they all look very different
linux desktop is usually criticised for being a bit hard to use, not having 100% compatibility with some laptops, and other things
it is fairly easy to install also
@@fraggerfn1212 its an operating system
Celerons perform decently on Linux and I just saw a recent video on Windows install and it took 75% of the storage after the update on 64GB. It actually insane especially during the pandemic because my school had to buy like 300 dollars more for then just because they bought many, I suspect that was to actually get them prioritised buy HP, to get them in time for school but still.
So the total price for each laptop was like 1200 - 1300 thousand dollars, disclaimer I live in Sweden and we did use programs like Fusion and inventor, blender and other stuff, so we needed the power, but still insane what the school system gives the Swedish high schools to spend, we have a CNC machine, 10 or more 3d printers and a laser cutter. And it is private owned don’t know how they make profit but boy they do, I looked up the company’s profits and they were very big.

Wow, this video really shows the stark contrast between the cheapest and most expensive laptops in the world. While the expensive laptop definitely has some impressive features, I'm blown away by how well the cheaper option performed in some tests. It's great to see that technology is becoming more accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. Thanks for another informative and engaging video
Damn yeah even the $70 is enough for a normal person with normal tasks so it's accessible to almost anyone..That's a great perspective that you saw!
Even so, that RTX 4090 is gonna have to run at a fraction of it's full potential if the CPU isn't idle for thermal reasons.
The biggest thing is there really isn't a huge difference between a $2500 and a $7000 laptop. Even 5 years ago, there was a pretty significant performance jump between a premium, a "super premium", and an "ultra premium" laptop. Now the biggest thing you tend to pay extra for is performance in a smaller form factor and even that's better than in the past. Before the last few years you never even really had the option to choose performance in a smaller form factor, if you wanted a smaller form factor you usually got mid-range performance at best.

i have an msi and so far its been great besides the fact that one of the hinges broke on the right so i cant open or close my laptop so i just keep it open
If the performance tests were done at the same time then they're swayed. If one machine is equipped with Wi-Fi 6 and the other isn't and you have a Wi-Fi 6 router and the Wi-Fi 6 equipped machine will be prioritized over the other one which will actually take bandwidth support from the other machine and "focus" more on the wifi6 one.

The Coda is actually an AMAZING DEAL, $70 for 4GB RAM, meaning it will get through most basic life tasks and a decent amount of storage for lightweight indie games and education. The only problem is that it's an Intel Celeron processor, I'd much rather a low-mid range Pentium or an older i3 (specifically pre 10th gen). Most laptops at that range are Chromebooks, super low spec laptops for education, and even at about $120-$200 you'd still probably find a few laptops around the same or slightly better rigs.
EDIT: WHY DOES THIS HAVE 100+ LIKES BUT ONLY 1 REPLY?
It is. I used to have a chromebook which was worse than the coda and costed about 600$. 😅
Lemme fix it!
@@Cornyoneyeah those don’t make sense, especially since they don’t even have to buy a windows license
ok
If you're technical enough, you could also remove the install of windows on the laptop and install a light weight linux distro on it, or if you're really seriously technical, your could also install arch linux to get complete and total control over basically every aspect of your system, which means if set up just right, arch could easily squeeze out all of the performance possible from the hardware. Or you could just install some other distro arch isn't necessary
