Each photo & video described.
These videos are meant to be educational but also funny, so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
0:00 Intro
0:05 "A newer at the time Kenworth single cab with an automatic transmission. I don't remember the exact details as I worked on this almost 6 years ago". What you see in the video is with the PTO (power take-off) unit removed from the transmission. The technician almost mentioned they could not get the fluid tested as the only spot close to them could only check fluids that were a liquid and not a solid like the one shown. They think that the customer added brake fluid to the transmission as that's an "old school" trick because it will cause the seals and clutches in the transmission to swell up and hopefully prevent slippage.
0:21 Inner air filter installed backward so the air intake hose was collapsed when the technician tried to start the engine, which lead him to the issue.
0:36 Protective film on the center console rear screen was still on.
The technician works at a Ford/Lincoln dealership so this must be a newer Lincoln model (they didn't mention the model).
0:42 I asked the technician and he talked to the customer who really thought there were 7 gears, but as mentioned it was caused by a cracked spark plug causing a misfire under load.
0:56 Not sure why the customer had the c-clamp installed when there are bolts holding the airbag brackets into place, however, the customer wanted the axle tube welded so that's what the shop ended up doing.
Also when the suspension is loaded (vehicle on the ground), the adjusting screw of the clamp touches the axle tube, but not shown in the video as it's on the lift.
1:09 The technician said the customer later admitted to faking the noise in hopes of a vehicle buyback from the manufacturer. Also if you look on the bottom right of the instrument cluster you can see a hand opening and closing the center console.
1:39 First time ever seeing shock absorbers attached to a sway bar. Unsure why anybody would do this but they might have removed the front driveshaft as well as it would be hitting the shock on the driver's side.
The truck looks to be a 7.3L Diesel Ford Super Duty.
1:49 The technician didn't mention what caused the noise but it's most likely coming from the window regulator.
1:57 The truck also had some body damage on the passenger side when the driveshaft broke off. As mentioned the customer had bigger leaf springs installed in the rear so a spacer isn't needed anymore. Also, the technician said he thought that the sticker on the back window on the canopy was pretty funny to see after what happened.
2:17 New calipers were installed and the brakes were bleed.
2:28 "Mercedes A class in for injector seals ( 1.5 DCI Renault engine )" Since the brake calipers are installed on the wrong side, it would be impossible to bleed the brake calipers (the bleeder screw needs to be on top.) Brake calipers got switched around, brake hoses replaced and the brake system bleed.
2:41 The customer's insurance company paid for the body damage after the accident, however, they refused to pay for the engine damage, and it wasn't covered under warranty.
2:59 The universal joints that the customer installed had spots to install grease zerks, but the customer never installed them or grease the u-joints,.
New u-joints were installed and greased.
3:08 "DMC-12 with my own DIY remote door and remote bubble machine, thought this might be a world-first DeLorean that will spit bubbles."

Awww. the bubble machine on the back of the DeLorean? Cuuuuuuuuuuuute
The machine gun window is definitely a "customer says X sounds like Y" hall of famer.
One of his last videos had a better one. A blower motor sounded exactly like the intro to "hot for teacher."
I was thinking, electric typewriter...
But hey I don't have the right to bear arms in my country 😂
@@onedayiwillmakesomecontent As someone that has had the opportunity to hear one fire, I can say that is pretty dang close.
@@petertorregrossa4447 - Exactly, that was a favorite, and the customer was right. It did soundlike Van Halen Hot for Teacher.
I mean the sound effect was hilarious. But I'd still take the door panel off to figure out how a window regulator would malfunction that bad.
Made a customer happy yesterday. 2008 Ford Escape, AC not working. Pulled the Freon, it was correct. Checked fuse and relay, all good. Had power and ground at the compressor plug. Turned out to be the plug on the wiring harness side. Ford uses the same plug for fuel injectors, spliced one in and all good to go, told the customer no charge. They came back today and gave me $150 cash. Felt good to help someone out.
Nice one, Good Sir! And even nicer customer came back and dropped some cash!
@@markh.6687 Indeed so. Was very surprised and appreciative of them returning to drop a few bucks.
Good on you!!! I have a feeling we won't be seeing any of your work on this channel.
It's little things like that that get you lifetime customers.
@@Cortanaseven Very true. Nothing better than customers that have trust in you.
Customer with the Ford making a noise. BUSTED!!! LOL
Ya that one is hilarious. We had a customer like that as well when I worked at Ford. I went on so many drives with my shop foreman.
Just had a noise concern come into my bay today as well (Ford Edge). It was a pair of empty hotel shampoo bottles knocking around in one of those storage pockets in the back of the vehicle.
@@alexwalker2582 dude, water bottles rolling around, sunglasses clicking when they're in the overhead console, toys in the back where the kids are having a party, random garbage in the trunk... So much time wasted when people just need to clean up their car.
A couple years ago I had a beeping nose in my truck. It was driving me crazy. Finally I figured out that my lug nut socket was rolling around and turning on my digital tire gauge which beeped once when it turned on and twice when it shut off.
I heard it straight away, I thought it was the glovebox tho, ill give him a 1 for ingenuity and a 4 for effort, he did get faster as the revs increased.....😂
I never expected people to go to such lengths to hustle dealerships
That’s what I was thinking… dude made he bought the car is what it really is
I worked at Honda Dealership for 2 years ... You would be surprised... Had a guy purposely fry the Clutch on a Civic SI to try to get the manufacturer to repurchase it because he found out his insurance was going up 300 bucks a month.
There’s that dude in San Diego who faked “unintended acceleration” on his Prius to get out of the car note. He knew it was a soft spot since San Diego is where the whole “unintended acceleration” thing started for Toyota when a loaner Lexus crashed killing a cop and his entire family. Turns out it had the wrong floor mats that snagged the pedal and the theoretical electronic problem with the Prius discovered during the investigations was just that: Theoretical.
We have people do it with mowers and tractors monthly. Buyers remorse, after buying out of their budget, or they don't want to pay rental equipment costs so they purchase one and then complain DAILY, wasting my time, trying to get it bought back. They don't realize we amd the manufacturers can spot customer neglect/abuse apart from warrantable issues from a mile away. People have become entitled morons and its a large majority of people sadly...at least in the equipment industry. Idk about vehicles.

DIY lift kits....I can't think of a single thing that could go wrong.

This proved to be deadly at that recent parade involving a DIY lifted truck.
The devil invented those deathtraps himself.
Things can't go wrong if they are already wrong from step 1.
don't forget the foot long wheel spacers
The blue film...you just scream out "COME ON!"
Reminds me of an episode of Monster Garage, where they were making a clear plexiglass box to go in a vehicle. ( I think it was a donut display case to go in a cop car). Jesse and several of his team were raging that the vendor had sent blue plexi, and it was going to put them behind schedule. It took FAR too long for someone to realize that the film peeled off!
I bought a new motorcycle helmet that had a pinlock insert, took me 3 days to realise it was so blurry because it had a protective film on it 🤦
"skilled labor isn't cheap and cheap labor isn't skilled"

That and so many people on the internet want to complain about parts markup...
I want to bust the bad shops that sell unnecessary work, but there are many expenses to running a shop and people seem to think bc they can look up part prices online, they should get little or no markup.
IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!
@@shannonharris they already charge labor separately and 100%-200% markup over a parts store price on items they get at a discount anyway is ludicrous.
@@SepticFuddy believe what you want, but I disagree.
Open a shop with little or no markup, and open your books for the world to see and let's see how long your business lasts without it. It won't last long, I promise you that!
Yes, the price is outrageous to the customer, but there are soooo many costs and investments to running a business that the customer doesn't think about.
Every business has markups, but most don't get to see what the "product" costs them to buy it.
But bc one can look up part prices online, they think they are getting screwed.
When your charity is up and running, let's talk again.
I needed this sticker today. guy whined about the price I charge to change out glass and it took me 30 min. tough shit buddy. everyone else spends 45 to 50 mins because they suck. i'm just way more efficient.
@@SepticFuddy no one gets a discount from the auto parts stores. it's just tax free. I fix windows for a living. sometimes a customer needs a new sash from Andersen or Pella. sure, they can buy the sash from them for the same price. but I can't run a charity. you called me to drive to your home to look something up for you for free. then you go buy the stuff yourself. some people do and that's why we quit giving them the window information. I am not a charity. you want to be the window expert, then do all the work yourself. you brought your car to a mechanic because you don't know what you're doing. so STFU about the cost.
Another great video that explains exactly why mechanics, plumbers, and electricians are so expensive.
and they will ALWAYS have a job !!
And yet half of those are below median skill level for the profession.
Bad mechanics are even more expensive
They don't get paid the labour rate, though. Much of that goes to paying for the shop and the tools in it.

I hope they have a tax stamp on that car.... XD
Oh my God, I heard that sound and was transported back to halcyon, yet bullshit days of eld...
This was a thick episode
The customer who lied about the noise on their vehicle should be told a very solid "fuck off, and don't come back". Liars need to be told this on a more consistent basis imo.
yea, that was disgusting. I wonder if the customer overpaid and had buyer's remorse. either way that lie is unacceptable.
Think about the time the tech spent looking over everything before discovering that was the noize?
Maybe looking for a wheel lock key that the owners never say where's it at?
Hmmm that sounds similar?
The customer is trying to make a false claim under a "lemon" law, so the dealer would probably have to deal with the customer in court if they just refused, unless they can first get something like this to make it clear to the customer that they know what's going on, and the customer would probably fail in court.
Fighting someone dishonest like that is going to cause them to double down and it may end up costing them. Probably time to take it back with some agreement for their “customer” to never return to the dealership. Banned.
@@Br3ttM Lemon law claims are with the manufacturer, not the dealer.

You guys find the strangest things on these vehicles. I've seen lots of this over my 50 years as a mechanic. I worked for a pontiac dealership in the 70s I was given a new pontiac to install a stereo system from the GM factory it had tape player am fm and a cb in the same unit when I finished it and turned it on the antenna went down when I turned it off the antenna went up after a chat with the GM engineers a little brown colored transistor had to be removed from the harness it worked fine then. One of the local quick oil change shops had a bad habit of pouring fuel additive in the master cylinder causing major brake repairs every wheel cylinder Caliper Master cylinder all hoses and a thorough flush of the steel lines and a few times it leaked from the master into the booster. You guys are awesome mechanics and I commend you for your great work and great videos
Thank you guys ☺️
When I worked at Advance Auto, the amount of people who wanted to use brake fluid instead of transmission fluid was just insane. And I don't mean they wanted to put a little in as an additive, for whatever reason, they wanted to drain the transmission of ATF and refill it with brake fluid.
There must be a rumor floating around that brake fluid in the transmission is better somehow.
The same idiots who remove the front tires (even the entire axle) from a tandem axle trailer because they think it gives them better fuel economy. Meanwhile the lone axle is carrying the load of two axles.
In 1980 I heard you put some trans fluid in your engine and some brake fluid in the trans. The trans fluid cleans your engine and the brake fluid fixes leaks and tightens up slipping bands and clutches. Also wipe down faded paint with trans fluid when you go to sell your car - shines like new until it rains !
Bubbles! The first aftermarket mod I've seen that I might actually consider for a car of mine. 😉
The DeLorean with the bubble machine is awesome...bah-hahaha. 🤣
love watching the channel, being a Mechanic myself but in the UK, its hard to believe people do that to cars stateside. but after seeing a friends car in Texas recently that would of been condemned in the UK/MOT, yet he still had an inspection ticket, nothing surprises me now.
also glad to see my Pic made it to the end credits. (Orange Toyarri bottom left pic)
Some of our states don't even require inspections.
They seem to be dumber in the US.
these just get better and better
There's never a dull moment here with customer state
Number 1 thing learned from this channel.. idiocracy is real.
That last clip, love the bubbles.
I worked at a Mitsubishi dealership. Had a customer try the same shit. Couldn't afford the vehicle and tried everything to get out of the deal and have us buy it back. Would come in once a week with a new problem that he read about on the online forums and TSB's and kept saying he bought a lemon.
Our manager was stupid and made the mistake of replacing his transmission under warranty, just to try and get him to stop complaining. That didn't work and made things worse. He kept saying there was still something wrong with the transmission after, and demaned more work even though there was nothing wrong. Got to the point where we had to tell him to take it somewhere else. Made sure to contact every mitsu dealer in the city and warned them about him.
I lost count on my "oh for f***'s sake" reactions, then had my palate cleansed by the machine gun window.
Great editing.
...Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Some of those people I mentally said WTF
Another awesome video by Just Rolled in. I'm not a pilot so I never ask to fly the plane. Why do people just "Assume" they can fix their own vehicles????? I have witnessed countless people ruin their vehicles because they wanted to save 10 bucks on an oil change. Don't even get me started on when people install their own brakes then wonder why they had an accident.
The real auto mechanics work hard on a daily basis and don't get paid near enough money for the schooling it takes to become a Master mechanic. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm guessing that these DIY'ers heard stories of when granddad fixed his own cars 50 years ago and figure that they could do the same. Back then, cars needed more attention and problems like rust could be discovered a lot sooner. There weren't any computers to mask hidden problems and the car would begin to demand attention soon enough.
As for brakes, I remember doing my very first brake job (with supervision by Dad). Brake drums and rotors always had plenty of meat to take 2, maybe 3, turnings before they were too thin to reuse. Stuff like that gets you familiar with your own car and that is missing from car ownership today.
Because competent people can “fix” their own vehicle. Have you noticed in this video that all issues are the result of utter incompetence?
@@caelestigladii I'll add negligence to the problem. Computers are fantastic at hiding wear and tear..... until it can't.
I grew up in times when most everything was repairable or could be easily maintained. The design focused your attention on where to put oil, like on fan motor bearings, for example. Appliances were easily taken apart and parts were replaceable. Cars were needy things and they demanded attention if it wasn't given. "Tune ups" were the most common money maker for gas station garages because the car would be hard to start if the points were bad. It was easy to pop the distributor cap off and inspect the brass contacts along with the rotor. Plugs didn't last nearly as long as they do now so, they were a common thing to blame. Pre-computer cars just invited attention and there were fewer things for a rookie to mess up.
Anyone can fix their own vehicle. Some people just don't learn to do it properly, or think good enough is good enough
My Hyundai kona is under warranty, so I let the dealer fix it. I had a service soon engine light on. I plugged in my DTC scanner, it was a temp sensor out of range. I knew what needed fixed. It took me 5 minutes to read the code and diagnose it. The dealer insisted it was a complex process and could take 8 hours, so they needed the car all day. I returned to the dealership, and the DTC was the same as what I retrieved. I work on my own cars and never have caused a problem. I have had dealers make simple diagnostics seem complex. I'm sure they used my car as a fill in on the daily schedule. They said it was covered under warranty, which I knew. Dealers play games too, so I avoid them. My wife worked at a car dealer for years and when I was working a lot of OT, I would have them fix it. They left parts out and some loose that the accelerator would not fully depress. Stealerships are clowns. If you find a good mechanic, keep them, they are rare.

I just dropped off my 2009 Honda Fit at the shop and asked him to change the oil, fix the driver side window and repair the leaky windshield washer tank and to keep it all under $50. He has a sense of humo(u)r. He is the kind of mechanic I can give the car to and know it will be fixed right. And, yes, he, the other guy, the shop and the shop floor are all clean. ;o) You know the kind of shop I am talking about.

Special DeLorean. I heard about an owner that took his mom out for a drive. He nailed the throttle getting on to the interstate. A cop caught him on rader at 88 mph. Putting aside my bewilderment , a common emotion felt after watching these clips , i can relate to customers who pull some funny business to get a buy back or blame the car company for their poor judgement . Cursing out the sales manager or anyone else not your best move . Had a customer just recently who demanded new shocks , 1000 kilometers left on warranty and is when you see these types of tactics , came in dripping oil from both rear shocks but when we put the truck in the air the oil only went up half way and dry as a bone around the shaft seal , sorry no fault found and took pictures , goodbye . Or the gentleman who rear ended a big truck on the highway doing a buck 20 and blamed GM , occupants ok , all cars have what is in essence a black box that only GM legal can access , showed the speed when the brakes were applied the G forces everything . Felt bad for the customer , was a fireman trying to save his license for his job , we all make bad choices and deserve another chance , sometimes ..
Bubbles? Hell yeah man. Gotta love the irony with the sticker regarding skilled labor.
I'm so glad I have a good mechanic. He actually lives 3 doors away around the corner from me.
I hope that one guy trying to get the buy-back gets charged for every hour he wastes of mechanics' time.... The ones we got at Infiniti were doozies sometimes. Had one guy with an awd g37 x complain about the mileage he was getting constantly, did the required waste of my time test drive, and got 26 mpg easy, with awd off, driving normally. AWD on got around 22mpg. Kept bringing it back saying he was only getting like 15 mpg etc. So finally the head service advisor went out with him driving. The dude was romping it at every stoplight pedal to the floor in awd mode. The service advisor was like yeah uh that's why... The guy wasted so much of my time bringing it back so many times. There was a long talk after all that about the service advisors actually doing ride-along tests with customers after that, I was livid.
