      TL;DR - Love it! Would buy again!
      Pros: I went 6 miles averaging 80% throttle the whole time, and upon arriving at my destination the battery showed full.
      I was able to hit 23 on full charge on flat road - FUN!
      The folding nature lets me store it nicely away.
      Cons: Lights aren't that bright. I ordered a small LED light bar and i'm going at attach it to the stem.
      Acceleration isn't the best, but it's enough.
      Price is high - I got the extended battery to ensure i'd be able to ride to work and back lol.

  • @henreebee6561
    @henreebee6561 Před 4 lety +31

    Hey guys, just a PSA: MAKE SURE that the release lever is pushed down ALL the way so the lever is flush with the metal when the stem is folded up in the riding position. The manual does not make this clear, in my opinion. I assumed that the peg simply clicked into place when you unfolded it, and didn’t think to push the release lever all the way down to secure it. And since I didn’t, the locking peg wasn’t totally in place. I was able to stand and even bounce on it in this state but once I got up to speed, the stem folded and I took a spill. Scraped up my elbows and my throttle snapped off the handlebars, and my arms were sore for a few days. I’m looking for a repair on the throttle connector currently.
    So, a PSA: make sure that the release lever is pushed ALL THE WAY DOWN so that it is flush with the metal before you ride! This is probably good advice for any other electric scooter as well.

    Just got mine today! it already comes assembled and all you have to do is tighten the bolts on the throttle and brake with the cool allen key set that comes with it! It doesn't come fully charged but even so it will still hit 23 mph! Once fully charged you can definitely hit 25 MPH on a flat surface. I am already in love with this thing! And if you're having doubts because it has a pneumatic tire don't sweat it! The tire is very solid and can take a beating. The roads arent forgiving in NY and I just put it to the test.

      You can switch to honeycomb tires after your pneumatic tires worm out. The honeycomb tires is a kind of solid tires with honeycomb holes to absorb the vibration from bumps and potholes. It would give the feeling of riding on pneumatic tires without the worry of punctures.

It accelerates faster in gear 1 and reaches 13 mph than my Gotrax XR Ultra would in it’s top gear, which would hit 14 mph. I have the p setting on 5 for acceleration, which is the fastest. Otherwise, I agree with the review. This is a phenomenal scooter for $700 including taxes and I got the 13 ah version, which reaches 26 miles per charge. In Europe, if you want the 10Ah version then buy the original branded version the Zero 8 available around Euro595, perhaps less in post Christmas sales. If you want the 13Ah version with the upgrades then the Horizon is currently well worth a look see (if you can find it) given the Zero 9 is still retailing around Euro1100. The Zero 9 is better than the 8, of course, but twice as good? Enter the Horizon...but perhaps this is a precursor to a Zero 9 price drop, Euro800 for this awesome ride would be a steal.

    I have a Nanrobot X4 2.0 with an advertised max. speed of between 19 and 24 mph. (This also has a 500 W rear motor and 8" solid rear tire.) The control panel indeed showed a max speed of 24 mph. However, when I checked it with a GPS app, I found the max. speed to be only 19 mph. So, I wonder whether or not the max. speed of 24 mph you reported was based on the control-panel reading and, if so, whether or not you have calibrated it against a GPS app. Thanks.

  • @appa561
    @appa561 Před 4 lety +20

    Chuck, you've nailed it with this review. I upgraded from the GoTrax GXL and I'm loving it. Your point about the rear solid tire is spot on. I have had an "opportunity" to ride this in rain (summer in South Florida, almost daily occurrence), much as you state, the rear solid tire does take away from the stability on wet surfaces. Being an unbranded Zero 8 (Fluid's statement), it would be nice if there were an option for tubing the rear tire.
    I will add something that bears mentioning in future reviews of anything with pneumatic tires. How easy is it to change the tire? I give props to the people that build this scooter. You do not need tire levers or a tire plier to get the bead over the rim. The front tire splits apart with three bolts. This feature alone should be on all pneumatic tires on scooters.

      It could be the malfunction of the circuit board on the controller module of your scooter. Usually the short circuit due to moisture accumulated on the circuit board in the area that you lived. A simple fix is to use your hairdryer to blow the circuit board in warm airflow for 10 to 15 minutes to dry the moisture off.
      About 30 years ago, Audi claimed they have achieved 5-speed electronic automatic transmission on their new A4 sedans for better gas mileage with 2-year new car warranty. However, there were so many new A4 buyers got their auto tranny failed immediately upon the expiration of 2-year warranty and were forced to replace with a new tranny at high price. Finally a mechanic found the cause of failure was due to moisture accumulated on the circuit board of electronic auto tranny thus leading to the short circuit and could be fixed with replacing the circuit board without heavy loss.(this is the reason why I never like cars "loaded" with electric/electronic gadgets).

      The geographical humidity in your area is not felt by your body because you have gotten used to the local climate. However, if your area is near ocean, local humid weather still can be felt by people from Iowa, Idaho, Utah. Thus the local moisture is built up upon the circuit board leading to malfunction. So a way to cure is to place the electronic products in front of the outlet of dehumidifier to remove the accumulated moisture.

      The Touring is a little faster, but has shorter range. The Touring has better front suspension and is better for heavier riders. If you're a lighter rider, either one will work well. Thanks for your prompt answer! Your absolutely right that it’s a tough call! Between those two, I decided on the Touring, I like the optional seat, better suspension for light off road, the bell and horn, the looks and different colors! I don’t want the boring plain black look hehe.
      Now I’m debating between the Touring, the speedway mini 4 pro, vsset 8 and the etwow gt. I weight 142 pounds, don’t need crazy speeds, would use for little commuting and mainly just for fun and would like to do some light off roading such as sand, grass and packed dirt trails. • @jonscott623
      @jonscott623 Před 2 lety

      I tried out the Levy Plus scooter last year. It has 10 inch pneumatic tires and no other suspension, and I felt that the ride beat the horizon suspension hands down. I weigh 250 lbs, and I could ride on a cobblestone street with the Levy with no problem. I tried to go down the same street on the horizon and had to stop immediately. I felt like it was going to shake apart - and I don’t want to punish a scooter like that. I ended up buying the horizon scooter because it has a larger motor than the levy, and can go up hills better (for someone my weight, steep hills are out, until I buy a one of those monster scooters that can handle anything). It was a trade off - but I miss those big beautiful tires. Huge difference.
