- Full-length tutorial video for professional cabinetmakers on How To Install Face Frames on cabinets: Filler and Scribes with the Lamello P System
What is the difference between fillers and scribes? Fillers are vertical pieces that cover the front edges of adjoining cabinet boxes, and scribes cover the gap between the end cabinets and the wall. The Lamello Zeta P-System allows a connection without nails or visible fasteners, using the Tenso or Clamex connectors.

I normally like Keiths videos. This one however, has to be one of the most jam packed and useful videos I've ever seen him in. I feel like this video should be included in the box when you get your Zeta P2!
You get a thumbs up, just for how good those cabinets and shelves came out!!! Dang buddy!!!
I can attest to this method. Has made scribing to walls/ceilings much easier. Thanks to you I'll start using clue on the fasteners.
Fantastic content, best scribe technique video I've seen. Thank you.
Keith, you just made me a Lamello believer! Great professional work!
Thanks Christopher!
Thanks for the informative video. Nice work.
A lot of great tips! More like this please! 👍
You got it!
Nice work
Very helpful tips thanks
great video, thanks for posting this, would love see more P sysem videos
Keith, I am so glad you are doing these Lamello videos w Colonial. Both Lamello and (especially) Mafell are terrible at explaining the basics, let alone the nuances of their systems. If they did 1/10th of Festools educational outreach they could easily triple their US sales.
@ericdillenberger7873 Thank you for recognizing the work we’ve done here at Lamello USA. We appreciate any kind of feedback can help us help our customers. In case you are not aware, there are many Lamello videos explaining the basics on our Lamello Lessons CZcams channel. Be sure to check it out! czcams.com/play/PLZpugdMsywoYvNUe48ArOsX6mT3tlhbws.html
Nice trick for getting the scribe, I’ll try that.
Question re face frames: with long cabinets like this, how do you transport a completed painted face frame to site?
When you use the 20mm spacer block how do you know where the center line is? Are you making it on the 20mm block and then aligning that to the work piece center line?
Have you used the Zeta with melamine material for face frame to boxes?
Keith, would you ever make those partitions with just one board and using the medius connectors?
the extra biscuits are silly though. you said it yourself ;p
Oh yeah! Finish carpenter here. Hate the blue tape. Green is way better for visibility of marking. But they make a light yellow too. Even better.
Oh, and that Lamelo thing is pretty trick too
Isn’t free cutting on a table saw (especially tilted) piece that narrow very risky in terms of kickback?
not for the real ones
Considering how easy it is to adjust the slot height i just dont see the point in using the spacer block that could also hinder you when plunging.
That's because you've never done it before and still believe that your eyes are capable of gauging height accurately on the basis of some little lines.
I noticed on the face frame example at the end the layout lines weren't perfectly aligned. Does the zeta allow for lateral misalignment? Similar to the domino when using tight on one end and loose on the other?
That's correct, the P-System does allow for lateral adjustability, so you don't have to be right on the money for slot placement.
How much movement?
was that paint face down while you put the tensos in?
If I understand your question correctly, yes- the Tenso connectors are installed on the back, non painted side of the face frame.
I noticed that the lamelo is now available in cordless.
Does it matter if the male or female contractor go in the face frame or cabinet?
Not per se, but the general best practice for P-System connectors in all applications is the male half goes in the edges and female into the surfaces. This is mainly to take advantage of being able to flat-pack the product.
Ah i see, makes sence thank you @ColonialSaw
Minifix vs this system , which win for durability ?
I’ve never seen a Minifix connector used to attach face frames to a cabinet box, so I wouldn’t be able to evaluate the advantages/disadvantages. Did you mean to comment on another of our videos?
