Yes, he deserves compensation but unfortunately it's technically not the police being sued, they suffer no consequences. It's the taxpayers that pay the lawsuit payout not the cops that did this to him, and that is part of the problem in regards to these miscarriages of justice that happen very often in Amerikkka.

This interview really hit me emotionally, what Glynn has been through is an absolute nightmare but there is a great deal to learn from this man and his attitude toward life. Never take anything for granted.
I love that he found ways to "escape" mentally by learning to read books.
His body was in prison but his mind - in those special moments - could be free.

I'm crying but full of awe and respect for Glyn. It's like the lessons of Job in the Bible. He has my belief that all religions pretty much boil down to the same thing and God always wins in the end. I've never seen Piers Morgan listen so respectfully either. He reminds me of a friend of mine who's no longer with us.
What do you assume to be a Nightmare for him maybe it wasn't deep inside, nightmare happens to the guilty ones, many people are not really free living with nightmares they fear going to bed at night without taking some kind of drugs, as the saying if you did nothing wrong you have nothing to fear.

This man' story gives me hope for my cousin that has been locked up in a Texas jail for something someone else did. The person that pushed this little white girl told Arlington detectives what happened; they did not want that female; they wanted this Black man that had no record and believed in the system. Remember this happened in Texas and Louisiana is no different. The good news is that God is faithful and hears our prayers. God Bless and keep you Mr. Simmons. Pierce Morgan, thanks for interviewing this wrongfully incarcerated gentleman and bringing to light this extreme injustice and this needless suffering and oppression experienced by this man at the hands of these merciless individuals in this corrupt legal system of which there was no apology afterwards and and they were only to compensate him with very little money for all his pain and suffering. Thank God he's working towards holding them accountable. Just want you to know I've always been a fan of you even when I occasionally disagree with you. God bless him! God bless you!

Yes probably the biggest nightmare I can think of. That's why the death penalty must be seen critically and it must be re-evaluated.
I do not consider Mr. Simmons to be a part of “shameful history” at all- because he transcended his deplorable conditions even as he served his physical sentence. He taught himself to read and write to become an excellent and thoughtful critical thinker; absorbed and learned everything he could through books and thought, even teaching others about different religions he explored and took to heart; learned everything about his case and engineered his own freedom through the legal system (being declared exonerated and not guilty of his supposed crime). Mr. Simmons is the finest example of a person in my lifetime who has not held others responsible for his own fate, but has worked consistently (even when held back and not met with cooperation), to achieve his own destiny. I am in awe of this man and his strength of character. Mr. Simmons, thank you for not giving up and not giving in- especially, not giving in. Just from this interview, you have become my most admired role model. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I agree that Mr. Simmons is part of shameful treatment during our country’s history. I grew up in the American South and experienced what was happening there. Thing is, each of us experiences the same chronological historical years. All of history is shameful, depending on the different vantage points of people experiencing events at the same time, each having their own perspective.
Yes, he was affected mentally by his circumstances, but Mr. Simmons chose to not let himself ultimately be a victim of circumstance; he rose above. He equipped himself intellectually and spiritually to address the situation he found himself in so that he could move forward to a better place. And though I imagine at times he felt victimized, Mr. Simmons proved to be no victim. Again, I am humbled, impressed, and feel this man can be a great role model for those who choose it. Hope he writes a book.

I agree with you. Mr. Simmons’ story can- and should- provide fine instruction for both the legal system and individuals who find themselves in the same situation as Mr. Simmons within the legal system.

Where the hell was 'God' while this evil was occurring to this man? 'God' ALWAYS seems to be missing in action for BLACK people. He remains missing for hundreds of years. What a shocking case. Poor man. Even if the police had behaved appropriately nobody should be convicted of an offence on the basis of identification evidence alone. Its so unreliable. There should always be independent evidence to support it.

One time the police knocked on my door, said someone matching my description, robbed an elderly lady, would i come down to the station for a line up, i said nope don't think so closed my door.

Incredible story salute
Glynn Simmons made the best out of the card he was dealt with. Thank you both for the interview, it is incredibly inspiring story of a man who showed unrelenting fortitude not succumb to the gravest letdown by the very justice system that was supposed to protect him.
What a truly level headed and erudite gentleman. The fact he is so calm talking about this is a true credit to his character.. Enjoy your freedom is all I can say.

This interview was riveting. Mr. Simmons is an incredibly inspiring individual. He is so balanced and insightful, after such a harrowing ordeal, it speaks volumes as to his character. The points he made with respect to (1) faith and his ultimate finding with respect to everything being one (reference to religious faiths) and (2) the relative nature of "energy".
I hope and pray that his lawsuit proves successful and those who were complicit in framing him, be brought to justice.
May he and his family be blessed for the remainder of his days!
The fact that he stands up for the victim shows this man's true character. I hope he has plenty if time left on the outside to enjoy the sun, his family, and everything he's ever wanted.
