Thanks for throwing out harsh truths the way you see it. Honesty is what keep this a fantastic channel
Clear and straight-to-the-point train with what you have that either being a 9mm or 22 caliber or anything in-between just get a pistol you are comfortable with
That definitely wasn't straight to the point
The full size gun is what I carry though. Sometimes, rarely, I'll pick the small one. But normally I dislike the compromise required to carry a micro 9. I'll admit it, I'm more confident and competent with a full size weapon. And they conceal well enough.
I know what you mean thats why I got the glock 48 shield arms 15 and a 20 super useful and slimmer. Always go with what you shoot best is what micky would say
What are yall carrying? I got a 75b. It'll be a while till I even consider carrying a smaller gun.
To each their own. That's why it becomes part of us. An extension of ourselves
Standing ovation for this man. Boss energy and champion of accountability. I was just training yesterday and I was going to do the exact thing he said - bring the CC but train the home defense gun... Rookie move. Took the CC and ran 50 rounds, nothing special, and I felt more confident with it. 10/10 video. God Bless you and yours.
I agree with you completely. Some folks have the mindset that gun they are carrying has to look cool and have all these bells and whistles. What good is any of thought if you are not completely competent with the gun.
I take your great advice to heart! I train way more with my carry pistols than I want to because I know they are the most likely to be used in a defensive situation. I would much rather shoot my rifles more because they are easier to be accurate with and have more potential as hunting tools.
I don’t have a lot of time or money to spend on guns and ammo and gear, so I have to be REALLY disciplined to buy training ammo for my carry pistols and then actually spend the time practicing with them.
I love that you are encouraging us to focus on doing the most good for ourselves. Thank you.
Nice! Very well said. I love being told straight what I really need to hear not what someone thinks I want to hear. I only carry what I practice with. I will admit I do need much more practice with it. Thanks for telling it straight.
Man! Another inspirational video. Brilliant life advise!!! Can’t wait to learn from you in June here in Michigan
Really appreciate your content.💪👍
Well said. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just wanted to tell you sir, very well articulated and well said, well worded and what you speak on is how I think day to day but you make valid key points that is more eye opening and other points of view that I may have not thought about it or realized and for that I would like to say thank you for being so informative and helpful for me to better myself and better informed.....keep up the good work you do it's much appreciated in which I can't stress enough....thank you
I would love to see something on carjacking and how much gun you really need to stop it. I carry my 640 or 442 or Shield. In the summer it will probably be the 442.
My mindset when I go to the range is: f*ck what anyone else in here is currently doing, I’m here to get better.
When I first started to shoot, if I was the only one at the range then someone showed up, I didn’t like it because now that person was gonna see me suck. Difference is I didn’t leave the range like most guys do.
Most guys shoot a mag, see they are all over the place, pack up to leave, or they switch to full sized pistol they never carry, and neglect their carry piece because they don’t want to look bad.
Luckily I got into pistol shooting in 2018, and got a good 12-15,000 rounds in before the pandemic. My goal was: shoot the center out of a target at 10-15 yds with my PPQ .45, which required more practice than shooting 9mm for me personally.
Also, unless you are a proficient shot or are an admitted beginner who is very secure in who he is as a man, do NOT bring your girlfriend or wife to the range until you become proficient. You’re gonna suck, other guys will be better, you’re gonna get insecure, make it a bad experience for her, she will notice, and will not find it attractive. I’ve had guys aggressively cut me in line at the register when checking out because their girlfriend saw they sucked and I was proficient, so that was their way of showing me who the alpha was 😂😂😂.
If you go to the range and suck: keep going back, f**k how people in other booths are shooting, focus on improving, and you will. Don’t deceive yourself and start looking for a $1,000+ pistol with a red dot, thinking that will solve the issue, it won’t because 99% of the time the issue is your MINDSET,
Well Mickie, you said it.your right.thats how my mind set is also..I train and train with my carry firearms.i do take my others to the range sometimes just to get some practice in..you always have some great info/ philosophy..Carry Be Safe and God Bless..
Love the mindset and reality checks
Thanks for this one Mick! Great mix of the “Have a systematic approach to training” and “shoot what you carry”. Folks don’t realize that for the smaller pistol, the shooter’s grip is going to be a bit different than your Glock 19/17 size pistol, the recoil is a bit more snappy, and the stock trigger a bit heavier with longer travel to protect us from a negligent discharge. It’s most noticeable when it comes to shooting one-handed and holding a tight group under rapid fire… and there’s a high likelihood of needing those last two skills in a defensive encounter IRL.
Love your content
Good shit. I definitely need to train more. No doubt about it.
Great video Micky!
Glad to hear someone say that. Stay safe.
Great video!!
I train weekly with my edc czp10c. I dri fire , draw, etc daily with it. I train my grip strength wrist strength daily for it. I shoot my carry ammo as much as range rds with it. I'm a firm believer in your teachings and view points. Good shit man
Great stuff thank you
I agree, that one should practice, train and even compete, with their "Carry Gun" and "Carry ammo load" Familiarity of the gun is key, one example, is your gun a striker fired trigger system, or a DA/SA trigger system etc?
Although a DA gun will definitely make you a better shooter period.
I totally agree, but note that what took you 10 seconds to convey occupied a ten+ minute monologue. Time is money, so getting to the point quickly matters (and avoids having to fast forwarding through most of this).
Every range trip, the first gun used is what I carried to the range. When I start the process of of live fire practice there is a tension in my body/mind that goes away, so I want to use that time with what I am carrying. At some ranges I go to I can draw and fire from concealment.
Great content
There the Mickey we love keeping us honest and thinking and improving keep them coming
People need to listen to what you say . You have a very good way of explaining . Only one thing . You need to understand . Thanks
speaking the truth! always wanted to attend your pistol/rifle course but it's always sold out and for a good reason as well!
Another well spent 10 minutes. Thanks.
You are absolutely right! I like what Clint Smith says, “beware the person with only one gun. They probably know how to use it.” That is basically what you are talking about. Get to know how to use your weapon; it could save your life. Thanks for your great work. My wife and I watch frequently. Keep at it!
hey, mickey. been following you for years now and have been putting a lot of what you have to say to practice. i was curious what your thoughts were on cycling through your handguns for everyday carry. listened to a gentleman on the internet who was tipping his audience about cycling through multiple weapons when it came to your carry weapon. love everything you are doing. when you come back out to Colorado, i'll be sure to sign up for your course!
That was awesome 👏
Great topic.
Intense Mick. But yes, proficiency with the piece you carry is essential. Great point.
First gun was a G43x. Second was a G45. I carry the G45, bc I train with it, and I’m comfortable with it. Great video. Definitely need to take a carry trainer course!
Glock 48 is terrific
Great video Mick! You told how the cow eats the cabbage!
In my urban concrete maze area I live in,carrying what is important and not is a must. I think the vernacular way to many instructors talk about ccw type carrying goes soooo far people get lost. Point your making is very simplistic. Carry what you use and learn to use it very well. Spare magazine is a must,I don't care what others speak about spare mags etc..I carry one extra. Light source is a must. And something I think most don't do. Buy what ever carry ammo you carry now,and go to a range that will allow you to shoot such ammo, and get those rounds down range every few range trips to understand the difference in recoil management. Keep pushing brother the knowledge of the craft.
Thank you sir
Well said brother
Well said Mickey!
Hey Mick, are you going to be in the pistol class in Pittsburgh this September?
You're the MAN!
🧠💪🏼
I am doing some training locally. I carry a Glock 42. I know it's a tiny gun, with tiny bullets, but it's what I have and what I shoot well, and I have only ever had one malfunction with it, so it's what I carry so I am training with it. It has been eye opening. I just finished my second class and have 2 more to go. After my first class I finally got my grip sorted out and I can put the shots on dead center without pulling them low right (I am a lefty). After my second class last night, I know I have to work on my off hand shooting. Every time I come out of class, I have a pile of stuff I learned that I need to practice, before the next class. I am not sure where I go next, but I am going to continue training after I finish these classes.
Love hate your videos. You ramble on but you make it make sense. Keep on keeping on. 👍
You're not lying Mick. I've been to quite a few of your classes and witnessed guys shooting all these fancy guns with red dots, sights and blah, blah, blah.
As opposed to training with the EDC pistol that they carry everyday. It never made sense to me, but it's a free country I guess.
Fuckin' hell, where you been all my life? lol I follow the popular gun channels, like Hickock45, Demolition Ranch, and Warrior Poet. I just got this random channel in my recommended and it strikes a chord in me instantly. Well, that's one error I can fix right away. Liked, subbed and rang the bell. Going back in your history right now and check out everything I missed.
totally agree also-you should train most of the time with your preferred edc pistol--Its ok to shoot the fun stuff too but your protection gun should get fed most of the ammo diet.
Damn that whistle just blew my O-ring out LOL
Not only does he have outstanding content, but also the most awesome first name in the firearms community.
I agree. I appreciate "systems" of weapons, also. For instance, choose your CCW and train with it, train with its big brother. Use one for concealed, one for your nightstand, one for open carry, whatever. My point is that the manual of arms, familiarity, and skills transfer over.
Lol. It's hard to do when you just like guns, but it helps in training.
Agreed, I’ve gone to all Beretta hammer fired DA/SA handguns. Only 2 different mags needed and the manual of arms is the same on all of them.
How can you pressure test your skills and equipment if you don't train with it? I've dialed in my carry gear specifically because I've used it at classes. I've got a robust system of pistol, holster, fixed blade knife, pepper spray, etc. All can be accessed and used with either hand. You don't get that without pushing your gear to failure.
YES!!!
My guy never misses 💫
Truth cluster bombs dropped here. Good ish today Mick
Great Stuff Mick. If you cannot use your fighting tools safely and effectively, then you are a liability to yourself and a liability to those around you.
God damn I love you…. P.s. what holster are you using??
Mickey whats ur thoughts of the xr920 or mr920
AWESOME video! I train every weekend at the range with my Hellcat OSP. #Mindset
Truth! Train with what you will carry and train how you carry. Dont just train shooting from a ready position if you pocket carry or use a holster, Train pulling from those also.
All True! Thanks Mick, sh*t we need to Hear
Amen
Amen
Amen
You've become one of my favorite online trainers. Your approach seems very practical and open-minded. So many in the gun community want to be "warriors for god" (you probably know who I mean, you even resemble him very slightly) not even seeing how they come off sounding exactly like The Taliban to anyone who doesn't believe in their particular invisible sky daddy either. Thanks for providing training for the rest of us. :-)
Just curious, why do you suggest the full size training to start with?
Because it's the easiest to get comfortable with everything is bigger easier to function thru gun that's bigger then an iddy bitty sub-compact.
Double Zero. Pure accuracy. Nice!
EXACTLY
Nice
What’s vhs ?
On point 100%. I constantly have students show up for classes with .22 handguns and other ridiculous handguns. When I ask them if that is what they’re going to carry it’s about 100% no. We then have a “discussion “.
Why do they show up with one?
Amen
THIS!!! Fuck YEAH!
Don’t forget to get… what the heck, we all have some by now. (Gunfighter Lube and grease)
Entertainment vs success........Be well.
Wise words from Mickey
That's great food. 100%
Some good hard truth. If it stings you, you're guilty.
Train with the tools you carry. Makes sense to me :) and i only have one.
THANK YOU! , This all has to be said, my father was somebody who very much promoted the kiss mindset keep it simple stupid, do not create some large arsenal that you flip flop around on, you pick one maybe two that you carry, you become familiar, you become proficient, you know that firearm you know that grip you know that trigger you know that recoil response .keep it simple , do not get caught in the hype of the tactical world and over dramatize all of your kit be proficient with your techniques be proficient with your system.
Keep it simple
It sounded like you said Walther Payton, lol.
This is why I own multiple of the same gun. Always used.
Yup i got 3 g19’s 2 3rd gens and i carry the 4th gen.
My Glock 43x is perfect for me!!
Owning and handling a gun it’s about humility and sober mind first
But not about aggressiveness and arrogance
🎤
I feel I didn't get closure because you didn't say "Tell someone you love them. Don't be d!ckheads." :) Trained with you last year, already signed up for Homestead again this year. I appreciate your time, videos, and instruction.
I have a process for cooked oatmeal with reconstituted apples but there’s no firearms, bravado, or douchebaggery
If you ever are at any of those places with that AR-15, your chances of getting shot skyrocket...
"Entertainment vs Success"
I've never had troubles concealing a compact sized piece and never felt the need of a micro toy, maybe this is why I don't see the logic behind it...
I've never heard of anyone use "mind set" as a verb lol
Truth only hurts/offends those that don't want to learn!
Where'd you go Micky? I got ??s
im into firearms for the fun of it but i endorse this video
👍Like
Walther Paython? Huh? You can definitely tell gun guys. They confuse Walter with Walther and while you’re at it, just go ahead and put an “h” in Payton too. 😂 Anyway, why call it “mindset”? Sounds to me like you’re talking about good old fashioned work ethic. Something that’s in VERY short supply these days.
I train for self defense. If I'm alone and get jacked take the car. If famiy is with me I carry more and I will draw fire away from them and fight.
Settle down Francis
That’s not harsh, that’s just plain speak. The way it should be.
Lost me when you said mindset
Sharing information you've learned from those with real experience is awesome. Promoting alt-right, Trump-loving, self-promoting, pandering phonies is beyond useless. The entire Constitution matters....not just the part or parts you agree with. Law and order applies to everyone (like the cowardly traitors that attacked our Capitol and spit on our Country), not just minorities.
I agree. Mick should stick to training advice and avoid pandering to the Trumpster fake patriots.
Your interpretation here is pretty interesting and has zero to do with my opinions
@@davee4134 pandering?
Thanks. I referred to all the videos, and in particular the ones where you promote alt-right, Trumpter political candidates. I always appreciate new ideas and respect most people's views on firearms, carry, etc. What I don't appreciate is the growing number of guntubers who think promoting those Trump-loving candidates is their obligation and will increase their subscriber numbers. This has zero to do with conservative, liberal or anything in the middle. What it has to do with is siding with a draft-dodging liar and racist traitor who sides with Putin and White Supremacists and actively encouraged domestic terrorism. It takes a special kind of hypocrite to lecture people on law and order and then make excuses for criminal behavior from someone who hugs a flag and gives lip service to the Second. It takes a bigger hypocrite to lecture people on the Constitution and then make excuses for crapping on everything the Constitution stands for. The once-proud 2A community is being overrun by those who demand we hate everyone we disagree with because the mostly spineless Republican party puts protecting Trump and his stooges over the USA. Lastly, you once made positive comments about Mrgunsnshill. That POS, while defending domestic terrorism, actually stated "most democrats think the election was stolen, and that is the truth." Honesty and integrity matter!!! Making excuses for liars and shills does not help protect our rights, and worse. is simply wrong and unpatriotic. Just because Mrshill loves guns does not mean he needs to be promoted. He's a lying, alt-right for-profit patriot without a shred of honor or integrity. Sorry for the extended rant, but over the past few years, I've become more and more ashamed of a community I respected for decades. Happy to discuss further, unless you're good with a clever, dismissive, passive-aggressive remark about my "issues", which is often the go-to reply for the narrow-minded hypocrites.
Pretty cringe
What about this makes you cringe?
Very hard to watch anymore . Just be yourself sport . Weird. #unsubscribed
Me too. I have watched several videos and don't disagree with anything he has said. Just comes at you with one speed - like a bettering ram, which doesn't wear well over the long term. As a class instructor, his style would really grab you, so no disrespect intended. He's just not for me.
