Right. The only place I have enough of a flat spot to carry one inside waist band is at 6 O’clock, directly above my bullfrog end, and they don’t make a belt tight enough to keep anything in that location from migrating south. I’m better off to just carry mine around in my hand.

I will note, that the stiffness is great for weight bearing. But, a little more flexible belt actually engages my camming bar/wing more effectively. It pushes the grip closer to my body more. Something to try out.

One holster company has earned my patronage not just because of the quality of the holster I recieved, but because of the knowledge and how active they are in the fight for our rights. That company is Trex Arms, and I will continue to order from them as long as Lucas and his brothers continue to be a force for good in the community.

The Tenicor Velo4 appendix holster is my absolute favorite and my go-to for both my Glock G43X and one for my Sig Sauer P365X! They use Discreet Carry Concepts clips and have a built in wedge system and their version of the claw concept, but it’s built into the body of the holster! Tenicor also makes a fantastic belt, the Zero belt is what I use everyday and these two offerings from Tenicor make a great combination!

Very interesting, well made, and informative. As someone who almost exclusively open carries and most of whoms friends and coworkers concealed carry I have noticed that many, arguably most, people aren't "concealing" nearly as well as they think they are. At least, not to other people who carry. IWB and IWBA are not always as subtle as people think.

This is one of the best CC videos I've seen. You do a great job in presenting the information very clearly and in a way it's easy to understand with your demonstrations. One thing though, myself and most people who carry, do so in a 3-4 o'clock position and not appendix. Is most of what you said about printing, holster styles, claws, etc. applicable to other positions aside from appendix? Are there certain holsters that are better suited to these other strong side positions?

I do like JM Custom Kydex. I found them while looking for manufacturers who make holsters for the Nomad 9 Glock 19 clone I built. I liked the brand so well I also bought ones for my Glock 19 and M&P 2.0 Compact. They form the kydex so that it has a built in wedge behind the clip that acts like a wing, canting the gun into your body. I have the DCC clips on them as well. I combine that with BladeTech ratcheting belt that's basically a rebranded Kore Essentials and that gives me good adjustability as I remove or put the pistol on depending on whether I'm going somewhere I can carry or not. The whole set up works rather well, is highly concealable, and is fairly comfortable considering I carry appendix.

I’ve used a G-Code Eclipse for years, but appreciate the demonstration of gear that was new to me and list of companies you trust for quality products. When you use the wing vs. no wing on the appendix holster it’s noticeably more discrete, but do you notice a meaningful difference in the ability to draw the firearm when it’s more tightly pressed against your body? Thanks for the video, the carry considerations were very informative.

All very good points. Everyone seems to mention " what if someone is grabbing me or hitting me or fighting for my gun" very few are talking about " avoid situations a all cost. " I believe in knowing how to use everything you have and then putting yourself in a situation where you never have to use it. I work security in an emergency adult psychiatric ward In an NC hospital. The Police bring many of these patients to us. Keep in mind we can not harm them but they can fight us with any means they have. We have to use aggressive therapeutic holds. Well I have learned that an adult who's I'll, angry, on drugs, full of rage the last thing that you want to do is get into any kind of physical altercation. If you're alone changes are it will not go well for you.

One other helpful holster addition for the “nutritionally challenged” folks who carry AIWB is a wedge. While it does add thickness at the bottom, it definitely helps push the pistol grip tighter to your “six-pack insulation” of your belly.

There's a lot of money being made on concealed carry gear -- so that people can carry concealed, of course. This is great overview of how one can manage to conceal a firearm, but one must first answer the question of whether to conceal that firearm or wear it openly. Sometimes one's local or state laws will drive that decision, but often they do not. Debate rages on the Internet about concealed vs open carry, and most of what gets said is divisive, sometimes downright ugly. Naturally open carry maximizes accessibility -- some say it extends that accessibility to others or makes one the first target. Some say open carry's major advantage is that it deters the bad guy from targeting the carrier in the first place because criminals aren't interested in hard targets. There are stories that support both views. Given all of us who carry are essentially on the same team, I'd sure like to see that divisiveness go away.

Move the belt buckle to the off-side 9:00 or 3:00. That removes the bulk from the front when you are carrying AICW. Game-changer.
I prefer the Kore Essentials ratcheting belt. With the buckle at 9:00 it is easy to loosen belt tension with one finger when transitioning from standing to sitting. To tighten just touch at the hips and squeeze the hoola hoop a click or two.
The Vedder light tuck is excellent. The clip has no bulk and isn't coming off without grabbing the end and peeling it back. Think about what is going to happen if a LEO wants/needs to disarm you for whatever reason. He isn't going to let you help...

    • @svbarryduckworth628
      @svbarryduckworth628 Před 4 měsíci

Why do you need to unbuckle your belt to take a leak? Do you drop trau at the urinal? I just unzip the fly and fish the snorkel out through it to drain the thang.
I don't even need to unbuckle the belt to drop trou at the throne either. I have 6' extra on the belt and just loosen it to the end of the zipper zone and I can then unbutton the trousers and unzip the fly and slide everything down keeping the holster clipped into the stiff belt hoop and everything.
The Kore belt is stiff enough and the Vedder has more than enough retention. I drop just to above the knees to keep the holster rig off the floor and out of sight of the neighbors who might see it if I lowered to my ankles.
I use public facilities a lot because I live on a boat so I've got it down to a science.

one thing you forget to mention, wearing a shirt with print on it that catches the eyes works WELL. For example, I did a test at my local Safeway with a plain black T on, carrying an FNX 45 Tactical this thing printed like a plotter.... asked a few folks if they could tell i was carrying and they laughed and just pointed at it. Went back in the next day with a bright orange shirt with bold black lettering that said "I am a ray of F&cking sunshine" and i asked 4 random people if they could tell i was carrying (still the same giant pistol) they said no and loved the shirt. Mind games are more than effective against the unsuspecting. One of the folks i interviewed was an actual off duty officer (i could not tell he was carrying as he was wearing a hoodie). Butt still, distraction is easily the best for concealment if your have a large gun, that prints no matter what. So yes, you can conceal service+ size weapons, just make sure you have a big and funny shirt.

The J Frame I’ve carried since 1968 meets or surpasses all those things you’ve mentioned.

Old timer I see your comments but for the love of God please shut up if you've never gotten training and most especially if you think your obsolete 5 shot snubbie will do the trick

Excellent video. I learned a lot. The one thing I have trouble with when carrying, is sitting. Also, do you take your gear off when you get into a car, because running up to the store and having to put the rig on before you get out of the car is difficult and could be dangerous. Having it in the front is very uncomfortable sitting down especially IWB. And even on your side, in a car with a seat belt is not comfortable. I don't drive carrying, which means I fumble around in the drivers seat after I park trying to get concealed. Thoughts?

Whenever I gotta drive somewhere I normally unholster and just have it under my thigh. Helps a little and its better then riding with a grip in ur stomach🤷🏾‍♂️

So when you jump in your vehicle or need to sit down you just take the holster off, i been carrying at 6 cause thats where its most comfortable but i cant sit. I hate holsters honestly. Maybe my pants are to tight i dunno. Im new to concealed carry.
