- Hello everyone!
First of all I just want to offer a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and sent me such supportive messages… it has touched me beyond belief and really given me my drive back to succeed!
I'm also deeply touched by the generosity of those who have offered donations. Your willingness to help a stranger in need has truly humbled me. However, I must humbly decline any further donations. My initial goal was to raise enough for a full tank of diesel to keep me going, and your kindness has surpassed that expectation beyond anything I could have expected. My tank is now full, and I am so, beyond, incredibly grateful for your support.
It is ultimately my fault I am in this situation, and I should have saved money in my savings to be better prepared for this sort of knock, rather than thinking this would never happen to me. Any extra money you have so kindly shared will go to one side and will be invested back in the channel and any other way I can think of to give back to this awesome community.
Thank you so much

Fate has dealt me a harsh blow - I've been laid off just before Christmas. For the first time in 15 years, I find myself unemployed, with little savings and a daunting job market ahead. I need to see through the winter and look for work ASAP to keep this van life dream alive!

Wow 🤩 very generous of you Gareth, Merry Christmas 🎄

Little bit more diesel cash.
Thanks!
Thank you 💪
Hey, hang on in there, you’ll be ok. I’m 57, I was converting my van that I was going to use for the odd weekend away, then I worked out how much rent I’d paid over the last few years and was horrified so I decided to move into my van, next April when my tenancy ends. I thought I’d live in my van and save a couple of years to buy somewhere in Spain or maybe a canal boat. Then, a month ago my job came to an end after 6 1/2 years and like you it’s a bit unfair and I’m a bit stuffed. But, after the anger of what’s happened calm’s down you realise there’s a big open road and you have choice ! Great video !
Thanks for sharing man, I hope your situation gets better and you still get to move into your van and get that place in Spain 🙏
I live in Spain in a tiny house so i can travel around and work on the road in my 2018 Renault Trafic with my dog, hence my handle
Thanks
❤ thank you so much I really appreciate that
Never go above and beyond for a company, whether big or small. They're not your friends, no matter how friendly they are.
Sorry to hear that man, I know how that feels, it's happened to me two years running now! Hope this helps to get some fuel or whatever
Thanks Chris that's so kind, deffo for diesel I'm going through alot of it lately so this will help 🙏
@@Nomadickangoo Craig and you're welcome ;)
@@CraigPitts Sorry Craig, honestly no Idea where Chris came from 🤣
@@Nomadickangoo it’s all good haha
Don't let it get you down brother, your stronger than you know. As a quote I once heard goes, " The strength of my soul was born on the backs of moments that brought me to my knees " Have a great Christmas and I wish you all the best for the future, I believe in you.
Hey, that is a great quote, do you know what it's from? and thank you for the donations, thats too kind!
@@Nomadickangoo Sadly I can't remember where I heard it but it's always stuck with me. Stay positive mate, it will be alright in the end and stay true to yourself. Good luck.
Sorry to hear your crap news. Here's a few quid for food or diesel.
OMG dude thats so generous of you! Deffo going to get a full tank of Diesel now 🙏
All the best
OMG DUDE, I'm shocked at yours and every one else's generosity to help a stranger in need, thank you so much 🙏
1 door closes another one opens. Keep up the videos 👍
Thank you so much for the donation, I can't believe how kind people are x
You live alone, no kids, no couple.....relax and enjoy the moment, something better its coming for you.
keep going mate you will find something soon sent a little something to help
I'm speechless, thank you 🙏
@@Nomadickangoo no problem at all i look forward to your down to earth vids :)
This came as a shock Alex but companies these days want everything and give nothing. Job descriptions used to mean something a while back but many driving jobs for example want you to drive full time, work in the warehouse when needed and take calls and orders in the office. Anything they want really and it's like it or lump it. Check out the good advice for you, that I've seen in the comments and I am wishing you good luck and a brighter future, if that's possible in these dark times.
So much good advice out here, everyone on here is SO SUPPORTIVE! But yes, you are right, companies want far to much from you for far to little
You are not suffering hardship, you are being tested by the universe, and when you ask for help, it will always send help your way, which you will see by weeks end !!
Lost my job mid 2000’s. Living in a 3 door VW Golf. No internet. The boredom was mind numbing. Not having a flat place to sleep was terrible. Eventually bought a £300 estate car, it was a game changer. If I’d had the internet instead of books from oxfam for entertainment I’d have been super happy.
Managed to get £75 a week helping a mate. Had a few months of it. Not fun at all.
Happy Christmas lad. Here's hoping things pick up.
Mate that's just so kind, you and many others have restored my faith in humanity 🙏
Lovely gesture
Hang in there bud. As one door closes another one opens. Hopefully it won’t be too long before you find employment, whatever that may be. It’s just another chapter on your journey. 👍🏻
Thanks mate, I'm excited to see what the next chapter may be!
If a company that you work for is willing to treat you like that, then you are better off out, they have done you a favor mate. Something better is always around the corner
Adversity, tragedy, fear anxiety.. These are all essential for a man.
When we push through the darkness to the light, when we rise from the ashes, we are reborn. Our wings strengthened with every new ascent.
Embrace the struggle. Courage cannot exist if there is no fear.
I have faith in you big man. You're gonna be just fine.
As a landscape gardener of 23 years now,,ive lost count of the numbers of times customers have said ""dont need you anymore """ hundreds of times...
But you know its business,,one door closes and without a doubt another opens,,and it truly has....I say this to you,,dont take it personally or try ,,,another door WILL OPEN...Life is all above moving forward...Great video.Great content,🇬🇧💯🇬🇧💯🇬🇧
You got this bro we all as humans have got this
Keep positing your videos
Thank you so much for Diesel money! I will keep these videos going and get my self a nice full tank !
Everything happens for a reason, i have more than 100% trust in you that you will succeed. Head up and go for it, whatever that is 💪😛
❤ thank you so much! Im going to go get it!
You have a nice van and presumably reasonably economical, warm, dry, and roomy !
Thank you, it's a very nice van indeed 😊
I only started paying attention halfway in but I had to comment bc your humble vibe touched me while scrolling. If you show up to work your employer will be lucky to have you. You're clearly a bright guy with a great attitude. Good luck, brother! You got this!
Thank you for tuning in and showing your support, things can only get better from here!
M8 you'll be fine..such a good energy about you..keep your spirits up..and free.
Terry you are a legend, thank you so much! I will keep this going 💪
Just found your channel from the video you posted after this one so I came back for a look. I didn't realise how much a like or a comment helped smaller channels. Good luck friend, you seem like a great guy and I'm sure you'll be fine, and there's no need to reply 🫡.
Hey mate that's so kind of you to reach out and send a donation! I hope you stick around for future content 💪
I'm 33 and the same thing has happened to me in was getting bullied at work by a woman so circumstances aren't the same as with a man and when I spoke up and thought I need to rock the boat or this won't ever stop. In the end I wish I never said anything and just suffered because men's mental health and so forth isn't anything in a work place. But I hope you get sorted mate and new sub
i am a woman and i have been bullied by women, it is absolutely awful, but i have learned more about narcissism and how to deal with them, it is very hard in the workplace as you cannot get away
Wishing you the best of luck you will get there ❤❤❤
Thank you Linda x
Keep the e-mail they sent you that mentions doing the extra (uncontracted) work. It will be useful to explain your exit at future interviews. Shitty luck, best wishes.
thanks mate, good advice 💪
Sorry to hear about the job ending as its a horrible time of the year for that to happen. It is their loss. Hopefully something much better will come along soon. Take it as a mini break and recharge your batteries. Try and get out everyday even for a 30 min walk, just keep your spirits up. And if you truly get bored make a few extra videos. They don't have to be long but they might help keep you occupied. Stay warm and safe.
Thanks Peanut! That is great advice about getting out side for a walk, something i preach alot on my channel, time to take your and my own advice.
Hang in there
God bless you
Hi, I’ve been watching u for ages, yr such a lovely young bloke. I’m sorry u lost yr job. I’ve decided to put yr videos on in the background for a few days and hopefully that will help you earn a few more pennies. X
Awwww thank you so much that's a good idea! And thank you for watching and supporting for all this time X
This is a good idea. Let the videos play all in a row from the beginning so the ads generate him some income.
I know this might not resonate right now but a lot of us are stuck in the 9-5 grind and dream of living on the edge but dont have the cojones to pull the trigger. You're living it. They'll be ups and downs, these are the downs but overall what you're doing takes a special character.
I think the lesson to be learnt is work your way into a position of power before playing russian roulette. I did this at my old job, I made sure they needed me more than i needed them before making ultimatums.
You are right, I played a dangerous game and lost. But you are right in what you say
Thank you , I am in a very similar if not the same situation ( I do not own a vehicle) and I want to tell you that you warmed my heart.Take care
Bro you’ve always landed on your feet and you always will. Tough times come and go, but you’ve always managed to work through them. Very proud of you to get out there and graft and do whatever is needed to get you through.
Hoping 2024 is still your year !
For a couple of months get a night shift job in Morrison's supermarket filling shelves.
This means you also have free meals and free overnight parking in their car park which means you can sleep in your van through the day anywhere without charge.
It's a good wage especially through Christmas and New Year....so in a couple of months you will have saved a huge amount in order to go forward.
When one door closes, another opens.
Good Luck Handsome ! ❤🙏
Thanks so much for your honesty, I've been on the road since this August and I'm 62 years old. It's tough but I'm so happy. I have very little money and the expenses are higher than I expected. Tomorrow is as we all know a nother day. Better or worse, please just enjoy the day for what it is. Men and ladies, love to all and stay safe and happy. My apologies for my English content my mental health issues don't help. Xxx
Thanks for reaching out, 62 is an amazing age to be out on the road, I hope you stay safe out there 💪
Mate I know exactly how you feel and people need to start realising in these big firms you are just a number and your manager will use you as much as they can and take all the credit for it and if you become injured or stop doing the extra for them then your out the door it’s very sad mate and I feel for you I had the same but through being injured at work I lost everything things will get better mate
Good luck mate, I'm skint too. But it'll work out right, it always does. All the best.
Keep your tongue out and ride the waves.Your a smart guy and I'm sure you can rise above this.
I lost my job at twice your age... life goes on. You'll get through. You have a good set of followers who, I am positive will come to your aid.
Best, Kaye
You have your wheels and you have your health as well as that insurance of your mums place in your back pocket, you also have a huge chunk of freedom without all the chains that binds us such as rent and a mortgage etc. I know that being skint is no fun and comments like mine might not be welcome but you have just opened another door and I hope you go through it on your own terms and thrive. All the best on your next steps wherever they may take you.
Comments like yours keep me going man, thank you so much, you are right. In many ways i'm still very lucky 💪
Blessing in disguise, never worry about legal advice as frankly you're better off outta there if they're intent on messing you about... usually as soon as anyone who normally communicates verbally starts with emails they're preparing to use your responses against you in some way... fuck that for a game of darts I'd make a point of going to see them in person or tell them to see you face to face.
Clean break and start from scratch, you're going to have to take whatever comes your way in the immediate future in terms of work but do not stop looking at what's out there. You're old enough to have some experience, yet young enough to still have good potential. You're also mobile in a way that most other people simply cannot match, perhaps to some employers this could give you an advantage over other candidates.
I have never seen such generosity in the comments section of a You Tube Channel. You have some special subscribers. I am now long term unemployed and was let go just before Christmas from one job and the DWP stopped my Universal Credit in 2020 two weeks before Xmas so I can understand your situation. It's a tough time of year for more people than is generally acknowledged.
Same here William, I have never see such kindness from people in my life! sorry to hear about your situation, its an eye opener that i'm not the only one going through it.
wow how can they do that
I lost my job on 21st December about six years ago aged 54 .loads of jobs about if you're willing to graft
Good luck, your bounce back 💪
Could you not concentrate on building your CZcams channel matey and have that for your job. Your very good at making excellent content. Good luck for the future, and thanks for taking us with you 💯🚐🚐💯🤟🚐
CZcams is only a hobbie, I dont think it will see me through to retirement
Get free legal advice, they may be in breach of contract. What they have done may be constructive dismissal.
If I was there for over 2 years I would agree but you don't get rights till after 2 years of working in a job, I'm happy to be moving on to be honest ✌️
you were basically fired because you wished to be valued as an employee. I can feel your frustration. I too did what you did, went beyond my remit of my job and gave them 200% for 100% the money. When I raised the issue of them now basically taking the p*** out of me and asking for more money to reflect the level of work I was doing, I was told by my boss that I was nothing, had to do what they asked and so I pointed out they had given me no training for the extra machines I had run and so, technically I shouldnt be running them and from then on I refused to do so on health and saftey grounds . they then a few weeks later, after I was no longer running the machines, decided to make a third of the workforce redundant and made sure I was on the list. Sadly these days, employers can do what they like and that involves undermining your confidence and undermining your value. They are quite literally user scum to have done to you what they did. Never forget your value. Never let them grind you down. You did do the right thing and you will see this sooner or later. You are a GOOD man. never loose faith in that. You WILL get there!
In the mean time I would deffo look into the constructive dismisal aspect because terminating your employment because you wish to do only that which your contract covers or be paid for the massive extras you did for them is absolutely constructive dismissal. My hope is someone from the legal profession seeing this who can represent you and get what you deserve.
Good luck and absolute respect 🙏 - Kenny
Wish U the very best! Ur videos are really top notch!
Mate, my dad always told me "any idiot can work for free". Sounds like you stood your ground to someone that wanted to take you for granted.
This might be the start of something better. Power to you fella
Your dad sounds like a very wise man! 💪
Really sad to hear what happened to you…stay strong! 💪
Hi Alex karma works in many ways, this has happened for a reason and the right job will come to you in the end. My son was in a similar position and now he’s found his job and people to work with. It’s a tough old adventure what we call life whether in a house or van. Stay true to yourself and positive, let go of all anger and negativity and you will reap the rewards.
Each day at a time ❤ebb and flow
Don’t loose hope brother, suppose you had stayed and continued to be resentful and angry? Far worse could have happened, keep your dignity and you will find your way!!!
Thank you brother, you are so right 👍🏼
I feel for you Alex, we are all just numbers to our employers. You stay strong and positive, it’s good to share your thoughts and that helps a lot not keeping them all bottled up. You’re not alone many of us have been in similar situations. Maybe set up your own business subcontracting to the bigger companies, just a thought. Bring on 2024 ❤you take care of yourself x
Sorry to hear that buddy. Stay safe and strong
Thank you 💪

😆 glad you agree
Sorry to hear that mate, I'm currently working at Tescos as a stop gap, its not for everyone but its flexible, nice people to work with and most importantly stress free. A couple of shifts a week would cover your fuel and food while you sort out your next move...free parking for the van too
Couple of things, I went thru something similar about twenty five years ago, nothing you’ve done was a mistake even if it looks like it now, you’ll grow as a result of this experience, never sell yourself short ever again, I’ve quit jobs after three days 😂 since, if it doesn’t feel right don’t do it…glad you’re feeling better…this is the first video of yours I’ve come across and you definitely got a new sub… take care buddy
Thanks for the sub! And I'm hoping something new comes up really soon!
Chin up buddy it will all work out
Also, expand your horizons. No need to be stuck where you are and broke! Drive somewhere warm abroad for now and get some bar work etc?
All the best mate - it is so hard for young people nowadays. I am 57 & always had Trade Union back up in any confrontation with employers which always gave me the back up I needed. The Unite Union is there for all workers; we need them now more than ever. If you are a young person PLEASE JOIN A UNION. Anyway, just gonna send you a fiver. Hope it helps. 🙂
So helpful! Thank you! I will look into a Union for my next job, we all need that back up out there these days!

Good luck on the job search mate - I e just been through that drama. Business I worked for went bust and they laid us all off instantly.
Keep your chin up 👍
Keep going it’ll be fine mate ..more time more content in here too 👍🏻
Tough situation, but you did right in the circumstances, and fortunately you know that in your heart. Everything is for a reason, and better things will happen.
Wishing you a happy upcoming birthday.
Thank you for your comment, Yes deep down I think I do know its the right decision 🙏
Hi Alex - believe in yourself and good for you standing up for yourself too !! Don’t you feel like you did the wrong thing because they were taking advantage of your good nature if no one speaks up, nothing changes, remember that ! Good luck on the job hunting front 🙏 I was looking for the link for the buy me a coffee but can’t find it in the description? You know what I love too, is the fact that once you have a job you will take it down 🙂 that’s how this buy me a coffee should work! Merry Christmas and send the link 😊
I am nearly twice your age (Like Tim), I have experienced what you have done with "The One" too many times to mention. Like you I live in a van I have owned a number of properties but equally been homeless of lived in a vehicle (Lock-up / Garage) numerous times over the years, but it Could have been far Worse, at least living in a van makes it harder for you to become homeless, even with no Road TAX, Insurance or MOT You'll be Safe and independent on your Mums drive for a month or few.
Good Luck for the future.
Good luck b

@@Nomadickangoo it certainly does take up a lot of time. I’m sure you will get something pretty quick though

sorry to hear you are currently going through the same issue! I hope it gets better for you and my self real soon 🙏
Thank you ☺️ it's not easy at the best of times van life, I understand the boredom, confined to your van all day, it's hard, but like you mentioned it's independence 🙂 roll on the summer 🌞 Steph x
Chin up mate, 2 years ago i lost everything n i mean everything. 2 years later im in a far better place. Things will turn around mate it doesnt rain forever youl see.
Not going to lie, the employee protection laws need to be updated.
Sorry to hear about your job man, its not an easy thing to deal with. I lost mine in Aughust 2023, have a look at home shopping delivery driver for major Super Markets in the meantime until you get back into Design, free onsite parking all night, toilets mabe a staff canteen too. All the very best mate.
Im sure they firing you for doing contracted job isnt legal, i would phone ACAS, and I always feel that when you give more to an employer than they deserve, they will take advantage.. as soon as I have realised this in past jobs, Ive slowed down to whats contracted as an experiment and they soon start complaining. Then I leave because you're worth more than bad employers. Stay strong and 2024 is going to be so much better!
I feel for you mate - stay positive and keep at it! You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders and you have so many diverse skills (especially after your van build). Your barber sounds like an absolute legend as well. Not that it helps much I know, but there are loads of us in a similar boat. Out of all our struggles, if we keep going it usually leads to better roads and it is an ideal time to meet new people to come together. Also Happy Birthday for a weeks time!
I understand there are many others worse off than me, so I cant dwell on it for too long, I'm hoping to find a new job really soon, and thank you for the birthday wish! 💪
Found your video after having the same problem, I just quit my job making a good average wage, I'm going 33, single guy and saving to actually get a motorhome myself but that's been put on halt as the money isn't coming in. After Xmas is gonna be job hunting with what skills I have. All the best for the new year, keep your head up 🙏🏻
Good luck with your adventure! Hope it all goes to plan 🙏
So sorry to hear this. Maybe stick to your contracted job next time then they can't abuse your generous, helpful nature. You did right pushing back, they should have been paying you for all the extras. Congrats on getting the channel monetised. Must have missed the competition, congratulations to the winners. How lovely of your barber, there's good people out there 😊 Happy Birthday 🎉❤
BTW. You DID do the right thing. I’ve had EXACTLY the same experiences as you regarding work.
Thank you i was doubting my self, but you and everyone else has made me realise, I hope your situation wasn't too bad!
