- I was looking for a JDM "family car" that had the potential to be cool but still affordable. I found this 1997 Honda Civic Aerodeck and instantly bought it.

Honda's are a great car. Had one for a year and I couldn't kill it.
It's already proving to be an absolute trooper.
If you haven't seen it, this is a good video for your '97 Civic window

It's very long, though. Does some electrical (which prob isn't your issue) so skip to 10mins for taking off the door card. More electrical, so skip to 24mins when he removes the window regulation. Seems like these have a habit of jumping out of their guide rails, which would fit with your jammed-in-blocks hack. He replaces the motor+reg (which you might not need to) so skipping to 31mins shows refixing, dropping the window into place and checking it all works.
Thanks for that bud, I've subbed to his channel now
I had the same car but the hatchback, amazing engine! Now I have the newer one but the old one is well better car👍
Yea, I am pleased I got it.
My grandfather had one and after he died I stupidly sold it because I needed money at the time
If you ever want to sell yours, please contact me
Ahh, we all do what we need to do at the time. They are still out there, you could set up a saved search on fb,eBay etc. But sure, if I sell I’ll still let you know.
I have the same car in the same colour but mine has been boy racer by me 😂
I am getting one tomorrow for my dogs 😅 just an 1.4 is 🤷🏻♂️
Sold mine. Instantly regretted it.
I have a Renault (obv, not a Honda) that are well known for that window-no-work, wood wedges to keep it up thing. Even though motors are sub £20 and no bank buster, the issue is 99/100 some plastic clips that prevent the glass from dropping down past the arms etc. That is, until they get brittle with age and use and snap. Glass goes peeeeew down to the bottom. About £3/pr for ebay nylon ones that last a lot longer than the originals. Worth looking on ebay and searching Honda or Civic fora to see if it's also a thing with them. Even if you did need to replace motor or reg (and you prob won't) it's worth doing at the same time and keep the other nylon one for when your less-used passenger side eventually snaps, too.
Couple of other obs - why do indie servicers never replace the cabin filter? Easy money for main dealers but the back shops never do it. I replaced the cabin filter a few months after buying my Modus and found the skeletons of Richard III and both of the two princes in there.
You just know your dog wants to do that head-out-of-window, ears-pinned-back thing, don't you? How long before you buy one of those nylon rear bench covers?
Ha ha, to be fair, it was my old school mechanic Chris who first told me about cabin filters a few years ago... I'd been driving nearly 20 years and I didn't know they existed!
Good to know about the clips, thanks, fingers crossed its that simple.
Oh and I wouldn't trust her not to jump out the window, she's got a deathwish sometimes lol.
Do you know the length of the trunk with rearseats folded and frontseats pushed forward?
Thanks!
i need that too, i was thinking of making a slight offroad/long-tour car out of it if i ever wanted to leave town for a week and was curious if i could fit myself in there
Im looking at one like this rn for around 500euro
I hope you find what you’re looking for.
