Oklahoma is ready to compete with the top of the sec and any team in the country right now. And the only gap between them and texas is how many times oklahoma has beat them in the last 10 years they'll beat Texas again this year. The hype is operated for thexas they lost to oklahoma and yea made it tonthe playoff but lost

11-4 OU since 2010. They have a short memory. Only their 2nd double digit win season in over a decade and they think their program has passed Oklahomas. August 30th can’t come fast enough.

My question is will OU continue to get everyone’s best shot in the SEC? I think they do in year 1, but unless they win the SEC or make the playoffs and win a game there, I think they might have games in the coming years where they don’t get their opponents best shot or full focus. If I’m wrong and they get overlooked in year one, they will shock the nation.

I think a let down game is bound to happen for every team. But I do think there will be good focus for the Sooners.

Personally my key games are 1. Tennessee and 2. LSU. Tenn is a no brained imo, but for me that LSU game is going to be very important bc I think both teams will go into that game with 2 losses which more than likely means winner is in the cfp and loser is out so I think LSU based off my thoughts on ou could be the most important game on their schedule if evrything goes well

Every game OU plays in or out of conference is important. They will be under the micro. scope by Everyone in the SEC. What their record was under BV's first 3 seasons means nothing. Starting this season is the only thing that matters.

    Don’t look past Oklahoma!
I surprised that Paul Finebaum hardly knew anything about OU on his visit for being such a renowned media spokesperson. It showed too. The recency bias for Texas is just that, history shows that they will have a good season or two every decade but OU is a sleeping giant and not the little brother moving in. It should be Oklahoma-Texas and not Texas-Oklahoma as most SEC pundits are call it.
Here are some stats for that most of us OU fans know but wished that these SEC homers knew too.
OU has the second most national championships in the country outside of Yale and Princeton just right behind Alabama that has 18 or (13 unanimous).
Oklahoma has seven recognized Associated Press championships. OU has 15 titles that are recognized by the NCAA:
    Those wins came in 2000, 1986, 1985, 1980, 1978, 1975, 1974, 1973, 1967, 1957, 1956, 1955, 1953, 1950 and 1949.
OU only claims AP national titles as they are unanimous unlike many other schools.
Just think, Michigan only has 3, but all of the sudden within the last couple of years, now they claim 12 for example. Ohio State now claims 8, Notre Dame claims 11, USC claims 9. We ae getting passed up and we actually have more. This helps for prestige and recruiting but for some reason the old heads at OU will not fall in ine like everyone else and claim
what they actually have. I don't get it.
OU also has the most conference championships of any team.
OU is tied for most Heisman winners (7) with Ohio State and USC.
OU is the only school with four 100-win coaches, owns a college football record 47-game win streak during the 1950s, and since 1945 leads the sport with 606 wins and a .762 win percentage.
OU has the most all-time draft picks of the teams that are now in the SEC in 417. Alabama has 411.
Lastly, OU are amongst the top in having the most undefeated seasons in all of college football.
Joining the SEC may be tough but it is opening a flood gate to recruits that they would have missed out on since they were not in the SEC. OU is a top 2-3 Blue Blood program. Imagine the 5 star recruits that OU will get now that they are in the SEC.
I think that OU is getting exactly what they wished for in terms of money, prestige, recruiting, and a shot to win it all.
Like I said, it may not be immediate but it will come sooner than later.

The 2 games that have me nervous this year are Ole Miss and Missouri. Ole Miss has been flirting with elite play for a few seasons now. And Missouri, although I don’t think will dominate us in the future, they do remind me of OSU. A team that OU can beat just about every season but then every once in awhile, they might have a good enough program to beat OU. Unfortunately, this year just so happens to be the year that they might be good enough to beat OU. Too many uncertainties to make an accurate assessment of course.
As far as the bigger teams like Alabama and LSU, I am not as worried as many others are about these teams. If Saban was still the coach, then sure I would be nervous about Bama, but I think any time a coaching change occurs, (regardless of how smooth the transition is) there is almost always a few holes to exploit. I think Venables will find those weaknesses and exploit them. He has a good record against Alabama as well as Oklahoma. The only certainty that makes me respect LSU a little is their fan base and stadium. Last year proved they were still rebuilding after Coach O was fired. They might have a year similar to OU’s last season. Improvement, but still not the same LSU team everyone has come to know, love, or hate. Don’t get me wrong. Both Alabama and LSU could beat us this year. But I think the more likely teams OU might lose to are Ole Miss and Missouri.

    • @LockedOnSooners
      @LockedOnSooners  Před dnem

Mizzou will have a good offense. If OU can limit explosive plays, they’ll be in a good spot.
Ole Miss will be a contender if they can gel.
Playing LSU at night worries me more than playing LSU.

It's crazy to think Oklahoma will suck and Texas will dominate. And why do people think that these teams don't have to play each other and Oklahoma is the only team in the schedule. All these teams will be beat up and have key injuries throughout the season but yet Oklahoma will fail and be Vanderbilt. SEC fans are ten times worse than any Texas fan. Oklahoma will go 10-2 or 11-1.
