  • After a decade of disappointments, the Virginia Tech Hokies are hopeful to get back to relevance in the ACC heading into the 2024 season. Second Year HC Brent Pry has his program going in the right direction after a 7-6 finish last year. With an elite, yet underrated QB in Kyron Drones, Virginia Tech just might have a chance to be a dark horse in the ACC.

Great video guys. The only part I disagreed with is the statement that VaTech is a hard place to recruit. If you go back to the Frank Beamer days, VT's team routinely recruited 5-star players and was loaded with 4-4.5 star players mostly from Virginia, NC, MD, DC, SC, PA, Eastern Tenn and KY, and believe it or not even FL. Those Frank Beamer teams were always ranked and consistently were top 15 teams. As with most things, recent history is what shapes opinions in CFB and the dark years under Justin Fuente are what prevails. You mentioned his early successes, but I would argue that those success were mostly due to remnants from Coach Beamer. Early on Fuente did have some recruiting success (think Justin Fields and Hendon Hooker), but neither of them got to start and and had very little playing time, ultimately both transferred out and we all know what they did. As a Hokie Fan, I'm excited for this season. I was hoping for the Hokies to ride under the radar until midseason, but i think that cat is out of the bag. One thing that wasn't mentioned in the Video was the improved linebacking corp. This is where the Hokies really struggled, especially early on last season. All in all, I believe the Hokies will be much improved this season on both sides of the ball and I believe they absolutely have a chance to compete for the ACC Title this year. The games I'm worried about most are, Clemson, GA Tech and Syracuse. Tech has shored up the Defensive line with transfers from Alabama, Oklahoma and Duke and beefed up the OL as well with transfers from GA State. Last year, the defensive finished ranked in the top 20 overall and was ranked 10th overall for sacks, all of this without a true mike linebacker. They brought in Sam Brumfield, a mike linebacker from Middle Tenn. He gave Alabama fits last year. GO HOKIES!!
