  • The DCC Concepts Alpha Mimic Lighting Kit is a great product which I reviewed in my last video. In this video I want to show you how you can use Woodland Scenics Just Plug lights with the Alpha Mimic kit. It makes a great combination which will allow you to expand the range of lighting fixtures that you can use on your layout with your Alpha Mimic kit.
Here is a direct link to the Alpha Mimic Lighting Kit on the DCC Concepts website:

I am now 54 but this reminded me of when I was in my early teens putting lights into stations etc. but then it was a small incandescent bulb. My how things improve and controllable

Larry I have this kit for lighting came in yesterday. I do have my lower level setup with Woodland Scenics Just Plug IT light system setup. Glad to know I can use them that helps me determine my lighting on the third level.

FYI - Those plugs are still available on Ebay. Bought some last fall 🙂 The alligator clip, with magnifier, is call 'Helping Hands'. I have one and it's great! Much needed tool for the workbench 🙂

Great follow up video, thanks! I felt for you when you realised you’d have to cut the wires twice to get them through the baseboard. It is odd the DCCC online manual for the alpha mimic says 50mA and not 75mA but hopefully their circuitry is robust.

I ran it past their tech guys to get the full story so 75 mA must be OK.

Hi Larry great video as always,
would it be a good idea to check for continuity before shrinking down the heat shrink.

To be honest I have never had a problem with a solder joint like that so don’t consider it necessary. A gentle tug will usually indicate whether you have a solid connection.

Larry, I know that my question is unrelated to the topic of the video but I am trying to find out more about converting 5 pole motors to can motors. I have an older Athern diesel that I like. It has great weight and nice fly wheels. Can you recommend a good place to start? Thank you, Dennis
