Took my 2012 V6 Mustang to the shop to grease my brake caliper... They noticed the axle leak and told me it would take $400 to fix and they'd maybe have to replace the entire rear axle (which would cost nearly a grand)... Made this whole big deal since there was some oil on one of my rear wheels as well, telling me if I don't get this fixed soon I could get in an accident... Of course this being my first car, I'm 19 and be being a lady, they really tried to drill me with this shit...
So I jacked up my Mustang, inspected the oily wheel... The cause for the oil was literally just a loose brake fluid line bolt... and the axle... Just a leaky vent bolt... Fixed all myself... $400 my ass...

It's such a shame when a mechanic shop is dishonest
So I cleaned off all the oil on the axle and differential looking new and removed the axle bolt/breather/lung
Cleaned it up and used a C02 canister to blow air thru it and it hasn’t leaked but I am going to replaced the bolt with the hose if it leaks but so far so good 😊

Would you still need to refill the differential with diff fluid? or was the amount leaked minimal?
No, it leaked a lot out! Had to he refilled.
Can you refill the diff fluid through the breather valve hole
I was looking for the answer to this question I want to Know as well because mine looks worse then his.
I unscrewed the fill plug on my 07 mustang gt and there was air pressure when unscrewing it my friends told me the breather valve is probably plugged is this the valve in your video I need to replace? Also if there is pressure in the rear end will the fluid burst out and leak all over when removing this breather valve?
When you shake the valve it should rattle. Have you tried soaking it overnight in cleaner? If not, do that first before replacing it.

Mike Biddle the one with the hose??? But where this hose it’s gonna go?? And will be too close to the exhaust
@@alainrivas06 Ford designed the replacement part. It will work. The muffler issue has been discussed. It will continue to leak unless you switch the part.

It's still possible to have some overflow on any vented system. Should be much less though.
