  • Here's how I solved a problem of the rear differential leaking in my mini truck. You don't have to get the grinder & welder out, & you don't have to replace the axle. It takes 5-7 minutes to patch the hole with JB weld, & it will last as long as the rest of the truck! @@@ Here's where to find it-
    Regular JB weld here- www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
    JB KWIK weld here- www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
    Sandpaper to rough up the area- www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...
    And here- www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...

    Thanks for the great tip on the starter fluid!! That will make a real difference!!! I have had problems of epoxy grabbing the metal after I cleaned with brake fluid, and now I know what went wrong. Next time I need a quick fix, I will definitely use it.

      soap & water works, rubbing alcohol works well too. When prepping for welding metal, I use rubbing alcohol as a final clean / prep

    I had a lot of quite a bit of pin holes in my Tacoma which I fixed last year I never used the truck never use been sitting it still looks good I sanded the whole entire differential down at about six holes in it and one large hole and it was very well thinned out and so with some other somebody else tried to bond over something so it looks good now the reason why I asked is it going to stay cuz I do have I did buy another rear end but I got somebody that wants to buy it for me and I'm thinking about selling it let me know how you think in the long run

      Depends on how long you're planning on keeping the truck. Also are you going to keep it as-is, or restore it & fix it up? If it's just going to be a driver, the JB weld patch should last 5-10 years at least, if done properly

    Do I have to drain my fluid first got a hairline crack in mine.

    • @Smittyschannel
      @Smittyschannel  Před 4 měsíci

      I would; unless the crack is up high where there's no fluid. If the area is wet from oil or fluid, you'll need to dry it out completely

      @@Smittyschannel been under my sequoia for two hours looking for a hole. No luck. But it’s pretty damn rust free now. So when it starts to leak, it will get the JB weld and some coats of rustoleum.

      Actually it started peeling a little & leaking a month ago- so for me, it was good for 2 years lol. I may solder / braze it this time and be done with it. Or maybe try a different epoxy

      @@Smittyschannel Did you drain it first? Everytime I use it on my truck's diff, it only sticks when fully drained.

      @@Tundra_Guy the fluid was well below the pinhole, so it worked. If the hole was in the fluid level, then yes you need to drain & dry first
