A horse that grew eating meat instead of grass would NOT taste the same as a regular horse. lol
Wonder if there was magic bullshiterry at play in that instance. Like how everyone became how they would look age-wise as other races.

@@billlee3851 Hard to imagine since the horsemeat I've eaten before was already pretty tough, but maybe that's because only old horses tend to get sold for meat in my country

Most common meat we eat is pretty tender comparatively to most animals
age/muscle activity during animal life and other factors also exist
Unfun Fact: Anne isn't just the name of the horse, it's what he named the Kelpie back on Floor 3. He named the water horse after the dwarf party horse he ate, and took care of it for years. Then he ate that horse, too.

I'd argue that Anne II trying to kill him was worse than him eating it
I live how much effort went into all of their new designs, like you can examine all of them bit by bit and notice all of these little details, like the fact that Marcille is shorter and younger looking than Chilchuck because of their age difference, the softer features in Laois compared to Senshi, and specially the absolute genious of turning Senshi from a handsome dwarf to this beautiful elf.
Elf Senshi is like... the manliest elf we can get 😅

In the manga the author drew all of them in all 4 races. She's really talented at what she does
Ryoko Kui, the mangaka, is an incredible artist and character designer! If you look at the extra materials she put out, particularly her Daydream Hour series of sketchbooks, the amount of work she put on design is amazing.
Love how they showed a difference between the fantasy races here, like dwarves are strong but get tired easily and need to eat often, humans have dulled senses compared to others, half foots can’t magic, and elfs are apparently the shojo protagonists.
And people often compare human to other species unfavorably in fantasy settings but one of our greatest overlooked strengths is our insane endurance.
I think it is more half-foots have keen senses compared to the other races.
Human: stamina/endurance
Dwarf: strength
Half-foot: sense
Elf: magic affinity
Dwarf also has sensitive ears so they get dizzy easily.

Girl…that was the very first time I ever saw Senshi cry…it literally broke heart my seeing him like that..
Whenever I see Senshi cry, i would love to give this brave man a hug to let his worries wash over..
I'd like to point out that the mangaka did a series of portraits where she ran all the main cast through the 5 Human races of the setting (Tall-Man, Elf, Half-Foot, Dwarf and Gnome), and those portraits are incredible in how she managed to make it so you can tell you the characters are just at a glance, while still having the difference facial and body features of the 5 different Human races.

Marcelle barely looks any different as a tall-man while everyone else looks radically different as an elf because she’s not a full elf.
Senshi as a half-foot on this portrait page became a "it's just a baby!" meme of its own.
14:20 Hippogriff is a predator, and is part hawk/eagle. Therefore, taste of meat will be very different from the meat of a horse - herbivore, even if they look similar.
Fun fact: when Laios rang the bell and threw it out, meanwhile, Shuro's bell also rang as fuck. Yes, this bell is the one Shuro gave to Laios before he left.
I was wondering about that… and concerned that Shuro would be concerned/annoyed about it.

The funny part is, he's actually the tallest half-foot we've seen. Imagine being taller than average and still being treated like a child, no wonder he's so offended every time

As a reminder, Anne was also the name of the Kelpie that Senshi thought he was friends with until it tried to kill him
I do have a well actually, when they ate the barometz Laios said that even if the plant looked like a lamb it tasted like crab. So there's a possibility that the horse part of the Hipogriff would taste wildly different than regular horse
Other party members just turn into differently shaped versions of themselves, but elf Senshi is literally a Fabio book cover.
I'm gonna miss these reactions just because you're so fun to watch the show with. Hopefully season 2 isn't too far away.

The funniest thing about the changelings part is Laios mentions trolls when describing the half-foot legend... when in reality "trolls" are just what half-foots call tallmen, lol.
One great detail i never see pointed out is how we NEVER see Senshi's mouth untill he starts opening up about his past

I'd call it a freaky Friday situation, but they don't even know what time of day it is.
a fun little bit of trivia is that in a comic extra of Senshi's journal, he writes down that everyone was giving him shit for acting "extra" as an elf but from his perspective he wasn't doing anything different. so i like to think that, for other dwarves, he's probably just like this all the time, we just can't tell.
With Elf/Senshi we dare to ask the forbidden questions: would Elf/Rich be prettier than Alicia?
Can you imagine Laois and Kabru solving mysteries together? Dungeon Detectives! Kabru can offer insight into the humanoid, psychological and political side of things while Laois can be the expert on almost everything else.
tbf the bird parts might also taste different between the two monsters, but yeah I get what you're saying re: the horse meat.

It doesn't fully explain since female mangaka will still keep fan service for the men. But in this series, the fan service is minimal and is for both genders. Also kinda does a joke fan service stuff with Senshi.

To be fair, the Barometz looks like a sheep but tastes like a crab. It's entirely possible the horse part of a Hippogriff tastes nothing like a horse. Love the Changelings and the new designs. Dwarf Laios and Tallman Chilchuck are my favorites and tiny Marcille is adorable.

In the Dub, Senshi is voiced by ProZD while Laios is voiced by Damien from Smosh. Marcille is voiced by the actress who plays Nami in the LA.
