    25 years of owning cars and this is the first I needed tools to pop open the air filter. 🤪

    Remove 4 screws and lift top of housing, remove old air filter and install new. There is zero need to loosen the hose clamp and remove the housing from the intake tube. The intake tube is flexible, allowing an easy lift up of top housing.

      Yep, totally unnecessary to loosen the hose clamp and remove the housing from the intake tube. There was plenty of flexibility for me to remove the old filter and replace with the new one. It is also unnecessary to completely remove the screws from the housing. They are VERY long and can remain in the upper part. Makes for a faster reinstall of the housing. My first time replacing an engine air filter & the complete job took maybe 5 minutes.

      Because I live on some pretty bad roads, I remove the air box lid. But that is to vacuum out the air tube as an extra cleaning step. You are right though, plenty of wiggle room for not having to remove the lid for normal driving maintenance.

      I agreed w this and then I tried it without taking it out of the intake tube and I put my new one in and it was definitely just malpractice on my end but it went in wrong and I had to take it out anyways

    While disassembled I clean the inside of the filter housing and air flow tube with a rag. Completes the job more thoroughly in my opinion.

    My dealer wanted $55 for the engine air filter and $40 for the cabin air filter.... I found a set of both of them for only $25 on ebay with free shipping! I hate dealerships!!!!

    Assuming the new filter comes already charged with the oil on it? Does that step only need to be done after washing it?

    Hello, I’m very confused. Is the engine filter the same as the cabin filter ? , I have a Jeep Wrangler 2018 jk , please help

    • @jimbrownlee3972
      @jimbrownlee3972 Před 2 lety +2

      They are two different things. The engine air filter filters the air going into the engine. The cabin air filter filters the air that comes through the air conditioning and heater. This video is for the engine air filter, which is under the hood. There is another video for the cabin air filter, which is behind the glove box. Both are easy to change.
