    I don't know about the wizard. But I'm beyond impressed with the novice 4 kit. I use to fly fpv like 6 or 7 years ago but I stopped because I didn't have the time. I realized my old gear is dang near obsolete. I'm talking dominator v1, and kk2 boards, cc3d on the most advanced. The novice 4 got me everything I needed and has been completely durable and reliable

    I got one when I was new to the sport and it was a beast, you can definitely "feel" the weight when flying. I only flew it in wide open spaces with nobody around. It was like a fast Cadillac. The drone I absolutely loved as a beginner was the Furibee X140.

    I have the earlier version with the same radio and everything you described in this presentation is what I experienced. First, WOW Does this thing have Power!!! #2, my radio was factory set to use the potentiometer to switch between Modes. Being a SPEKTRUM guy I could find no logical way to assign that function to a switch so I took it apart and swapped their respective connections to the main board - they are plugs so it was simple!!! Much nicer. Thanks for this, Captain!!!
    I modified mine replacing the stock camera setup with a CADDX Turtle with a DVR. Not the quality of a Go-Pro but completely acceptable and saves a lot of weight.

    I‘d love to see a comparison or discussion about the controller for an Fpv drone with a DJI video transmission system.
    I plan to make my first build (after coming from Mavic Air, Mini 2, DJI Fpv Drone, GepRC Cinelog 25 HD) and want to use the Caddx vista. I have the DJI remote and wonder, if a different remote (with crossfire for example) might help with range. Another problem might be the law in Europe restricting us to 25 mW. I guess what goggles might be the limiting factor for range.

    This drone is made for beginner FPV acro pilots. This is meant for people who want to learn to do aerial maneuvers/tricks.
    Also take the 700 g wait into account with the GoPro. If you’re doing a power loop do you want this thing to kind of fall after you let off of the throttle and head under the tree. This dynamic provides the correct flow for free fall.
    So, it’s a stunt drone. Similar to La Dribs Skyliner.

  • @JG-mw7uy

      Hoe did your ESC hold up?
      Mine was DOD out of the box, BG sent me a replacement but I'm yet to install it.
      Maybe I'll just order a quality stack and upgrade the Tyro 119 from the get go.
      Upgrade the motors later and kinda have a test platform.
      It's my first build and the thing booted up like it should have but the esc just was from a bad batch I guess. All soldering was okay, smokestopper didn't freak out so yeah...

    I feel like using a gopro with stabilization enabled for these tests distort the expectancy of newer pilots if they buy this thing. In the DVR it's quite obvious how bad it's really flying though... Getting any other RTF in the same prize range definitley is a better decision and you get a quad having at least thrice the flight performance. Also startin off with a 5" is okay as long as you trained in the sim before.

      When I use a GoPro in reviews, I also show the non-stabilized video (low res) from Fat Sharks. Your average intelligence viewer should be able to figure it out from there as to what they will get if they don't use a GoPro or other action Camera on the drone.

    Air mode is not acro mode, air mode is actually a feature which keeps the PID loop active so when you drop to zero throttle your quad doesn't fall like a brick.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Před 3 lety +1

      Mark... Hopefully you are as old as I am and remember the days of ACRO which came prior to AIR. AIR mode was an add on to ACRO to allow for smooth Freestyle in that the props kept function so as to avoid the drone turning into a rock at low throttle inputs during flips, rolls, etc. If you see a drone with AIR in the display, it is ACRO with AIR enabled, just like you due in Betaflight (you can enable AIR or disable it).

    • @markb9896
      @markb9896 Před 3 lety

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 air mode is an addon to Betaflight and yes I've been flying quads since 2014 and been in RC longer than I care to admit. However you can literally have air mode enabled via the feature or on a switch and it will operate with angle, horizon or acro, although there's no real reason to have it enabled in angle mode but it can be used with any or all modes of flight. I know this to be true because I accidently left air mode turned on via the feature in the config tab on my Mob6 and had a terrible time taking off and landing and couldn't figure out what I had done wrong, at first I thought I didn't have motor stop on but in fact I did. It was only after a long while of thinking what the heck have I done I realized air mode was still enabled as a feature. While air mode does allow for smoother flight as I stated above what it actually does in keep the PID loop active and as you stated that will allow the props to keep spinning so the quad won't fall like a rock. Personally I run air mode as a feature so it is on all the time and honestly I don't program any flight modes at all.
      This is from Oscar Liang's discussion on flight modes and I think is a good description:
      "Airmode is not really a flight mode, but a feature. In a nutshell, it basically allows better control in the air when your throttle is zero. This is particularly useful for acrobatic flying.
      Beware that Airmode can make your motors spool up unexpectedly on the ground (or touching the ground) so be extremely careful when handling your quad. Although there are safety features to prevent this from happening you still want to be cautious about this.
      It’s actually available as a feature which you can enabled in the Configuration tab. If you do so, the Airmode option will disappear from the modes tab. The advantage of enabling it in the modes tab instead, is that you can choose to disable it anytime during flight."

    No capacitor, 30 old esc, individual escs is not bad, but the current rating is lower than I would like, and they are old. Should throw some modern escs on there. Even the wizard x215 escs look better. You can see the camera osd, in front of the betaflight osd, and it shows the wrong voltage (4.8v is so wrong). They should have turned off the camera osd. Also the arm switch position is just ridiculous. The arm switch should be within reach, and when you are flying you want your finger resting on the switch, ready to disarm at any moment. That placement is just dumb. They don’t have the detailed quality you would get from iFlight

    7:15 this is exactly why I would never advice a beginner to start with a 5 inch. Imagine what a beginner would have done in that situation. One small mistake and you have a weed whacker coming at you at the speed of a car. I tried a 5 inch first and it scared the living out of me when I crashed it near me on the first flight. It took me a while before I got back into flying (with a whoop this time). A beginner is always going to mess up big time at some point, so they should be flying a drone that is not a danger to anyone when that happens. Flying whoops is also a bit easier on the wallet for beginners, considering you dont have to replace props everytime you hit the ground :P
