“People drowned in molasses?”
Ryan: “that’s horrible”
Garrett: “not a bad way to go!”
“People scraped leaking molasses off the side of a metal tank”
Ryan: “that’s disgusting”
Garrett: “how economical!!”
Ever the optimist, Garrett
Ryan: "do you think I could boogieboard that"
Garrett: "Ryan, of course you could if you believe in yourself"
"They pulled a guy's arm off trying to save him from the molasses."
Garrett: But *maybe* he's perfectly fine in a little bubble safe from harm... Without his arm...
Ever the optimist.
The Professor being excited that Ryan was close to writing flu and then screaming *"NO!"* with such frustration when he said prohibition is the highlight of my day
I was SO excited for Ryan when that happened, Shane had so much faith in him for a second
This happens to me everyday, the life of a teacher is hard. You can do it, Professor!!!
In fairness to Ryan, I was thinking Prohibition, too XDD
I couldn't believe that the professor was helping ryan for once 😂🤣 "NO!!!!" I died 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I definitely thought the answer was prohibition too lmao
I can't believe the professor never mentions that this disaster is also known as the great molassacre
You get a pun point for that one
Missed opportunity! 😢
you win. like you win the tiny jellybean pouch for that one

I love how Boston has had two separate unrelated events where a liquidy drink has been dumped and ruined infrastructure.
in all fairness the tea wasn't yet in liquid form but i do see where you're going with this
First put the tea, then the sweetener, warm it up with some global warming, and now we have a good ol cup of tea!
To be fair most drinks are primarily liquidy
If I had a nickel for every time Boston had a food item dumped into the harbor, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
ryan not getting the flu answer when the professor was trying to hand it to him on a silver platter is high art
This is why he doesn't win puppet history
prohibition? 🤣
I literally screamed "the spanish flu" to my laptop..... then when Ryan gave his answer, I screamed a very loud NOOOOOOOOO XD
he’s me when i was in school tbh. there’s nothing going on behind my eyes only wii music
This is like when it took him half the episode to realize they were talking about the dancing plague
i like how garrett's like "wait did people die? is it ok to make jokes about this?" i guess he hasn't seen ryan and shane laughing for 5 min at the possibility of a guy shitting himself as he died
I never got over that one 😭 gets me crying laughing everytime

Wait where's that from???

also ryan: prohibition?
I never expected to be singing "I hope my wife died too, so I can see her soon, and smooch her spooky ghost horse lips!" to myself, but here we are lmao. I cannot get this freakin' song out of my head
... and clip clop into the light!!!
And put the hooves in front of the other in front of the other! and CLIP CLOP INTO THE LIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
The whole hooves in front of the other, in front of the other, etc is my new mantra
You know how some people want to have Monty Python’s “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” played at their funerals? “Clip Clop Into the Light” is that song for me.
This song is definitely one of the hardest bops he’s done
“Are you threatening me in front of this big tank of molasses” is the “in front of my salad” of 2021.
Really? In front of my tank of molasses?
Actually it would’ve been the “right in front of my salad” of 1919
I’m definitely incorporating it into my vocabulary from now on
Head canon: all of Ryan’s answers are correct, but the Professor goes back in time and changes history so he is wrong.
I love it
I choked on my drink 😂
I'm waiting for the acc to reply "how did you know!"
You are on 666 likes so i cant like it but let it be known I laughed
i think this so often thank you
Fun fact: after this people stopped using the phrase "as slow as molasses" in Boston for a long time because it brought back tough memories
"That's as slow as molasses!" "You mean as fast as molasses, right?" "..." "You mean as fast as molasses, right?"
I’m so happy that Garrett has highly upgraded the quality of the guys named Shane he knows. I’m legit proud to see him getting to enjoy his projects after years of basically being bullied by Shane Dawson for views.

When Garrett answered both Flapper girls And Boston Tea Party, I was like, “Honey no. Those are two separate things with YEARS between them.”

Is it weird that I found the horsey/god duet comforting? Something about the mix of nihilism and general cheerful acceptance of one's mortality does a lot to ease the existential dread.

24:03 I just love the part where Shane was about to show B's choice, but sighs and cuts to the genie, himself, making a deal to wipe all the molasses from the streets. His sigh moment is beautiful to me, and it makes me laugh.
"B. Whatever that was all about." afterwards was just icing on the cake.
I feel Garrett should have lost a jellybean for thinking the Boston tea party was potentially the correct answer
Is there any way we can get this series nominated for some sort of award? The work Shane puts in is deserving of it. Shane’s talent really shines through and I hope more people have the opportunity to recognize it.
I agree he is sooo creative! And using the comedy method to teach history....which many and sorely lacking knowledge in!.....is spectacular! If it weren't for some colorful language I'd say puppet history would be a great teaching tool for middle and high school! Talk about memorable!

Can we all agree that the professor's backstory is becoming hotdoga part 2
When Puppet History started we all thought it would be Ruining History reimagined.
Turns out Shane wanted to lure Ryan into a false sense of security before bringing back the Hot-daga.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got him"
Didnt Ryan once specifically mention a daydream about going to see a play and the curtains open and it's just shane continuing the hotdaga in full costume?
Curtains? Check. Costume? Check. Ridiculous backstories and origins that lead into a seemingly multi-season long shadow plot? Check.
Shane actually did it, the mad bastard lol
As a Southerner living in Boston, I see Garrett's Boston accent as pure perfection.
It‘s you, the Exact Specific Demographic
i feel like the leaks prevented it from bursting as the professor mentioned someone came in and fixed the leaks shortly before it broke
right!! i think the whole thing being tightly sealed would make the pressure & subsequent explosion worse lol
Ok so with this series Shane is basically telling us that he could easily write a smashing musical but for some reason he just chooses not to...
I never knew how much I wanted to see a full 2 hour musical adventure of the Professor being chased through time by the genie until I read this comment
Maybe he IS writing one and Puppet history is an elaborate advertisement.
He honestly already has. In the buzzfeed unsolved Q&As his hot dog saga is that. I'm not sure when in the hot daga the first song is introduced, but people have compiled it so you can watch it all

After the season 4 finale, I thought it would be fun to go back through the other videos and find out the real scores in each to see if Ryan actually won any. This will be focused on the points won during the questions only, not the extra points the professor gives out willy-nilly.
Actual Score: Ryan had 1.5 points and Garrett had 5. The guest won fairly
had Ryan won any?
garret is genuinely my favorite guest on puppet history, he has such an energy that works with both ryan and the professor
Anyone else realize that the reason the horse was introduced early was to get us attached to him as a character so that when he was killed in the finale we’d be attached.

THAT FINAL SONG HAD MORE PLOT TWISTS THAN AN M. NIGHT SHAMALAYAN MOVIE HOLY SHIT
My great-grandmother was born in 1916 and lived in central MA. She told me whenever she was in Boston during hot summer days as a young woman, the whole city would smell a like molasses, as some was still stuck in cracks and crevices and would melt in the weather.
Did she mention anything else of interest? That’s really cool.
I worked at a Sam's Club (in the late 90s), when a co-worker stacked a pallet of heavy hot cocoa mix on top of a pallet of Mrs. Butterworth syrup. After it crashed down (thankfully in the middle of the night, so no one died or was injured), it took a few days to get it mostly cleaned up. But for years, they were still finding sticky goo all over the shelving, and the smell lingered.
I can still smell the sickly sweetness, if I think about it. So yeah, I can almost empathize with the people of the North End. Thankfully, I don't have the added baggage of friends and family having died from said flood, or the pandemic, or the war that also recently happened.
Oh, Potatoes and Molasses!
If you want some, oh just ask us
They're warm and soft like puppies and socks
Filled with cream and candy rocks
Oh, Potatoes and Molasses!
They're so much sweeter than algebra class
If your stomach is grumbling
And your mouth starts mumbling
There's only one thing to keep your brain from crumbling
Oh, Potatoes and Molasses!
If you can't see 'em put on your glasses
They're shiny and large like a fisherman's barge
You know you've had enough when you start seeing stars
Oh, Potatoes and Molasses!
It's the only thing left on your task list
They're short and stout they'll make everyone shout
For Potatoes and Molasses!
For Potatoes and...
That's enough
I forgot about this until now!
