What I do not understand, is WHY didn't anyone for ONE SECOND, take a look at Good Mythical Morning and their 'Mythical Society' psuedo tiered patreon-esque subscription. Like not only do they have Good Mythical Morning & Good Mythical More, Ear Biscuits, Mythical Kitchen, Trevor Talks too Much, A Hotdog is a Sandwich AND SO MUCH MORE such as the Rhett and Link channel 1, etc. etc. FOR FREE. But Mythical Society is literally just Behind the Scenes with Crew members/staff, and more podcasts, AND if you're tier 3 you get a literal physical merch item every 3 months. You really said "we're going to offer what was once free, behind a paywall and no additional content'. Like what are you smoking??

I watch CZcams more than anything, and I have subscriptions to every streaming company.. Watcher was my number one most watched channel, out of EVEN Netflix, Paramount, Max, Hulu, Disney, Amazon blah blah blah.. I’m already broke, I’m not paying anymore, I can’t..

Honestly I was not upset at all! Quite the opposite! I was and am so excited for YOU GUYS! Youve worked so hard and given such great content, I'm dirt poor but i would rather give YOU guys $6/mo than a big streaming platform. I understand some people cant afford it, but that doesnt mean it isnt worth it. Its $6/mo not $20/mo and that is very reasonable, imo. And before someone comes at me saying thats classist or some other BS, i make less than $40,000/year. I am poor. The most expensive subscription I have is the hulu/disney ad bundle for $16.99/mo and i have to skip it pretty frequently b/c i cant afford it every month. Yes, we enjoy the content, but they deserve to make a profit not just cover the bills and break even. They put in a lot of work, hours and hours, for every episode of every show we watch. And to me, $6/mo with NO ads is perfectly reasonable. Just waiting to figure out how to get the app on my tv 😂

Okay...look, I have watched a TON of shane and Ryan. Since their old school buzzfeed days I have seen pretty much everything they have ever made and would gladly sign up for watcher t.v....but only because I can actually afford a little more a month. The idea that they were going to lock everything behind a pay wall is legitimately gross since there are already a bunch of options to monetize youtube videos to begin with, and their entire fan base was built here. It feels like spitting in the face of everyone who has stuck with them for years and even followed them to their own channel when they left buzzfeed....however, we all make mistakes. I'm not going to unsubscribe or stop watching. These two are legitimately interesting and creative people who have long been some of my most treasured comfort videos on CZcams. I fully intend to let this go and continue watching like it never happened. I'm even going to sign up for their watcher TV platform because I do genuinely enjoy it enough to pitch in and get things a month early, if they ever decide to lock everyone else out though, I'm going to immidietly cancel that subscription on principle alone. I know lots of people are never going to subscribe, believe me, I understand that, this was bad. But I hope that enough of you move on from this that the channel continues. They screwed up, it blew up in their faces, and now they are eating crow. If it was anyone else I would say eff em and never watch again. But it's the ghoul boys. I'm gonna give them exactly one pass and move on.

The funny part about making your money on CZcams is that you can make an incredible amount through people until you straight up tell them "its not enough". And therein lies the issue: what you do is a luxury and nothing more. You are entertainers and you are the FIRST line to get dropped when people cannot afford their lives. You are not, never will be, and cannot command essential nature from the world. These people turn to you to escape. Not tack onto their bills. Youre fucking BLESSED to be able to do what you do. Sincerely, a 15 year musician who turned ironworker for the money.

The way the ghosts communicate through the spirit box and ovilus reminds me of the way those talking dogs use their buttons. It’s almost like it takes them a LOT of effort to use it, so they try to pick a word that is symbolic of a whole sentence. That and the big gaps often between words makes me feel like it’s really difficult for them to communicate and they don’t always nail it when they try.

It makes me sad to see that hardworking people get shit on for trying to grow and better themselves and their company. Good for you Shane, Ryan, and Steven for making fun and creative content and continuing to grow! You’re learning quickly who your true demographic is. Haters gonna hate.

I think the largest problem is that the first video made everyone feel betrayed and made them feel like somehow it was our fault that they can’t produce videos they want to produce. Our fault for not paying enough. Then asking us if we will “follow them” into a much greener patch of grass bc it was ours and CZcams’s fault… interesting coming from such a FORMERLY beloved channel. Everyone remembers Shane and Ryan from unsolved… everyone. Wouldn’t be surprised if this does not spark new success for Shane and Ryan without Steven… or possibly even just Shane will be successful on his own, I could see that too… all in all just a very sad and like Ryan said, “insensitive” thing to do to ALL of your watchers… no pun intended. Not sure “watcher” can recover from this one… the goodbye video felt like an ad… not a remorseful or genuine goodbye to anyone… But that isn’t even the point, the point is that not many creators dare to leave CZcams and their broke fans, (the ones who supported them when THEY were broke) in the dust then laugh at the end of the video… takes nerve. I personally do think that this affected Shane and Ryan the most… very sad.
