@@Eric_8724 I was indeed focused on the white SUV and the car on the right had rolled forward just as I was coming up to that crossing so I glanced at that to make sure he wasn't going to roll into my lane. It looked like the red car was swinging wide to go around that SUV since they were stopping at the crossing and once I saw the hit coming I had started to steer out but couldn't since the curb and other drivers were there. Very common on that stretch of road and after driving it for a decade you get complacent with how people drive around there
To the guy who held up his hand to stop the lady from driving through the death lane: Nice try, but next time, pull up instead, and don't leave the death lane. They can't drive through it if it isn't there.
And to the lady whose son got hit rolling through a green light, and says they're still dealing with it: putting this video in the hands of the insurance companies should have instantly resolved this, the truck entering the intersection with no right of way was obviously at fault.
dunno if anything is going to change with the wave of death until the people leaving the gap are prosecuted. I know it's ultimately the person entering the gap that is really at fault, but, the people making the gap are the ones creating the situation in the first place....and they usually drive off consequence free.
I mean, you're not really supposed to block intersections either. That crash was entirely the fault of the lady who made the unsafe turn. The lady turning shouldn't have done so blindly like that and has no one to blame but themselves. Cammer doesn't bear responsibility for another person's poor decision making and unsafe driving.
@@Eric_8724 It's not always an intersection. Often it's a strip mall or a restaurant or something.
@@Eric_8724 You are free to block driveways - that includes to parking lots. They are not intersections and thus do not count. Especially in times of high traffic, it is likely better to block them than to allow people to put themselves into the death late.
A lot of places are specifically marked that you don't block lanes like that.

You shouldn't block an intersection though so cammer was in a good spot, even if it allows for people to make unsafe left turns like that
It's still the responsibility of the person trying to make that turn to do it safely.

@@schauerm It may not be an intersection. If it's a driveway or parking lot entrance you are free to block them, and probably should in times of high traffic to reduce everyone's collision risk (including your own).
If you stop on a busy interstate to get out of your car and try and fight another driver, you have clearly proven that you are not mentally fit to operate motor vehicle and should get your license revoked for life. FOR LIFE! Shit like this should require a psych test to get your license back if that’s even an option.

It is a USA made truck btw....Japan doesn't have pickup trucks nor personal trucks that big (been there). It carries the Toyota moniker but is designed and made in Indiana. It's actually more USA than GM truck (many made in Mexico and most parts made there assembled in the US).

Was curious so I did some digging. It’s an old abandoned service station on the taconic state parkway, northbound from the interstate 84 interchange just outside of East Fishkill NY.
Out of everything, I don't blame the last driver. Is it illegal? Yes. Is it dangerous to anyone else's vehicle but your own? No. Definitely doesn't save life on the tires and suspension, but it cleared just fine.
I do. That sort of behavior is actually very dangerous because it encourages people to sidestep the roadway and put people who are on foot in danger. There's numerous examples of others hopping the curb to drive on sidewalks, drive thru yards, and all manner of other nonsense. All because their vehicle combined with their "rules don't apply" attitude makes it possible.
Wow, my hometown showing up twice on this one. 84 really is not designed well. Surprised I haven't seen the eastbound Lake Ave exit on these videos.

Fishing for views. They're advertising their own channel, which imo should be disqualification from being featured. Plus using video of one's children rather than your own encounter is scummy unless they got explicit permission first.
One of the things that gets me is that some drivers with the right of way won't take any action even if they see the other car coming.

@@michaelcandela1107 The windshield is a structural component of the car, a cracked windshield means a ca 30% loss of the rigidity of the car's body. For the same reason a chipped windshield will inevitably crack because it cannot withstand the tension it needs to. That's very dangerous, Ohio definitely needs to change that law.

Yes, that is common. The bike lane is dividing a turn-only lane from the main road. Garbage design in practice because people ignore those lanes, but sound logic in theory.

crepequeen64, while those stickers are pretty dumb, blocking the rear view isn't really an issue, you could have a legitimate load in a pickup that blocks the rear window (SUV's, wagons as well)

Like I said in another post. I don't agree with the sticker's messages, but some vehicles actually don't have rear windows. I used to work for a small publishing company. Every day, I drove the company van to the post office to get our mail. The van had solid doors, with no rear windows. Just two large side view mirrors. I never had a problem.

Had a chevy silverado from 2007 to 2017 and then a 2016 chevy colorado from then til now. No issues other than a spark plug fouling in my silverado about once every two years.

He's not doing anything illegal. You don't need a back window or be able to see out of it. Mirrors, not so much.
While I don't agree with the messages on the stickers, legally, you don't need a rear window. I used to drive a small delivery van to pick up my company's mail at the post office. It had no rear windows. It just had extra large side view mirrors. I never had a problem.
