  • Wanting better fuel filtration for your OM617? Want the added benefit of a water separator? This conversion will allow you both benefits. With the extended filter-life of the Donaldson/CAT, you'll be able to pay off this simple modification with just 1 or 2 filters since they last that much longer than the OEM filters.

What benefits is there upgrading to this from a stock mann filter?

One more quick question. Will the fuel expansion hose (cigar hose) still fit? It seems like that line will be too short after install.

Can this upgrade be performed on a factory setup in a W126/W123 chassis ? If so, what else needs to be temporarily removed, besides the filter mount, to perform the upgrade?

Hi. Great video. I am having a hard time finding the Cohline. All I can find is the cloth wrapped type. Do you have a good source for the two line sizes?

With this kit in a 300, what are the lengths like for stock fuel lines coming in and out of the filter and pump etc? Would any of them need to be removed and replaced being that the height of the filter is changed?

The cars I've installed them on haven't. But I like to make new Cohline lines when I start working on these engines anyway. They're usually old and worn out/leaking.

On my W123, the two hoses with the banjo eye fittings (with the in and out arrows on the side) were too short to reach up to the adaptor kit.

That's a good point. I'll make mention of it in the description that lengthening may be required. I have a video on rebuilding the Cohline lines. They're usually broken/leaking by now anyway.

@@doomsdaydiesel Thanks for the help! I wasn't sure how to go about it so it's great to hear you have a video on how to do it!

Hey so i just got a 1985 w123 and the guy before be did this upgrade, pretty sure he DIDNT change those 2 orings in the bolt before installing the adapter because it leaks from the top and from the filter. Can i use a torch and not melt threads into threads? And even then can i even remove it without totally killing the threads?

I wouldn't use a torch on a fuel filter - sounds like a recipe for a major fire! I'd use a heat gun if necessary to get things loosened up. Have fire extinguisher on standby.

Are there other larger filter options that wouldn’t require grinding?

will this affect your fuel pressure if you are still running the factory pump?
