- Daniel was falsely imprisoned by a refrigerator repairman, so Soren and him discuss the legalities of refusing to leave, making landlords work, and how to talk to strangers.

Thanks RocketMoney.com/qq. it could save you hundreds a year.
Use boiling water to melt the ice , Dan.
@42:30 Is she referring to the First Dance at a wedding? I feel like that's a common shot selection in wedding related media
Good lord. I am generally pretty chill but if someone pulled the “I can’t leave until you answer” thing I would politely ask them to leave because I didn’t agree to their policy, then remind them that my state has Castle Doctrine laws if that doesn’t work. I do not care about company policy. My house = my policy.
And what an unfair policy for the workman. Imagine how uncomfortable that has to be to be held hostage by capitalism into reverse hostaging someone. Gross.
For real what a wild policy
Well I'm glad I found this.
Taking conversation advice from Nathan Fielder feels like a misunderstanding of Nathan Fielder
19:00 the legal territory here is pretty simple. Dan is the resident of the property and has every right to ask the repairman to leave, especially since his business is concluded there. The man is trespassing and Dan could have called the police if he suspected that he wouldn't leave.
It seems like an excessive reaction given the low stakes, but it's absolutely fair and legal to respond like that if somebody refuses to leave your home for any reason.
I guess there had been recent instances where he had done work and wasn't paid for it, but that doesn't make what he's doing fair or legal.
At a minimum i hope you left a negative review of the company and reported the employee to his boss. That's totally unacceptable from a person who's expected to work in people's homes. That guy should probably be working in a job where he's closely supervised or at least on CCTV he's clearly not a normal, functional member of society.
The company's policy isn't to stay in people's houses until they're paid, that policy is absurd and illegal.
Probably, I'd have insisted the landlord find somebody else to do the work. The repairman was attempting to intimidate you and that sort of thing shouldn't be condoned by doing business with them.
There is no way that "I can't leave until you pay me" is a legitimate policy. Can you imagine how terrified someone who isn't a relatively fit person like Daniel would be in that situation? A woman living alone, a frail old man, a disabled individual -- all just held hostage by this "policy" that sounds like a mafia shakedown?
As far as I could surmise from a documentary I just watched on Nat Geo, which was narrated by Paul Rudd- octopi do dream
Good video!
I would rock a Bazooka Sharks shirt
as long as it says "J. CONCUSSION" on the back
I wish I had a musical sandwich right now.
I'll take those conversation pieces and expand on them a bit:
No, I don't believe in aliens, no matter the odds. Something can have the best odds in the universe outside of 1:1, and still not happen.
Yes, I was moved by a piece of art. When I saw the Van Gogh painting in Glyptoteket in Copenhagen, I spontaneously started weeping.
I have a wish that I'd stop hanging out in online places and disconnect more. Do more offline things, like read a physical book.
I think there are probably aliens out there, but I also think that humans will never encounter them. They're just too far away in space and time for us to ever be likely to meet.
I mean even an ocean planet that has fish and crabs on it would count imo. It seems unlikely that this life stuff is some kind of freak accident that has only happened here and only happens once.
So do yall ever chat with the Dropout crew?
I doubt it, tbh. They have little connection to them
If aliens were real and I had to learn that from you two... I mean that'd be fine I guess. But what a wild wild way to learn.
More than once I've learned from a meme that a celebrity had died. So hearing about confirmed aliens from a podcast sounds right on-brand with me.
I, too, thought I was going to be reincarnated... Out of nowhere... At 4 years old.
Guys, I'm pretty sure reincarnation is real.
Gillie talking about reincarnation out of no where is actually super common for kids her age. There are so many stories of kids who have memories of past lives and deaths and then their parents look into the things they say and find real life matching events the kids couldn't possibly have known about. It's so weird
