Another round start option you forgot to add is round start axl bomber. It’s insanely silly and will lose to some moves but atleast you get to scar your opponent for life.

@@anomalocaris2192 well just in case you havent learnt it yet it stands for tiger knee which i believe is named after a street fighter character or move from street fighter. It involves doing the motion input of an air only move while on the ground then quickly pressing up and the attack button to perform the move as soon as you leave the ground
Thank you for actually making a in depth guide. Since Axl isn’t very popular, it’s often hard to find good information on him besides watching pro play and analyzing it

I thank you, not just for the guide, but you have set a part of my soul free. I have been looking for the song in the intro for 16 YEARS, ever since hearing it in Courage the cowardly dog as a kid and I never even had the slightest hint of what to search for.
When I heard it I immediately went to the description and was amazed to see it there. That’s one down, countless more to go.
This video taught me that i have an intrinsic magnetism to Glass Cannon and that any attempt to try and stray from that path only leads me back to disrespecting my enemies with low health pools and CHAOS.
I've been playing Axl for a while, and this video taught me that I don't know the first THING about him. Time to hit the training, jeez.

heh. the intro is kind of funny because im watching this dropping ky for axl.. axl was one of the first characters i was into when i picked up the game but i couldnt really get a handle on his damage but i gave him another shot and its been really comfortable

This video was fantastic, thanks for taking the time to put this together! The humor was great, but it was also related to how the character works, which made it super easy to understand what you were trying to teach. Also, the structure, starting at the basic game plan/ essential tools, and working towards the finer details, and finally the combos, was great for following along👍
probably the best strive video ive ever watched, definitely helped too since i just got into the game and realised i like playing zoners like rushdown characters. and axl fit the bill perfectly, youre a massive inspiration!

The "whole doing nothing" tactic is actually the best thing you can do.
I just had my first Strive match in almost 6 months maybe even closer to a year with only a few hours around that time frame with Axl.
My friend and I were playing and they have like 200 hours in the game and they main Chipp but play May and Sol as well. I managed to win like 8 or 9 times out of the 20 matches we had with those characters and I wasn't even using all the mechanics like burst, rc, shield, just blocks and zoning and managed to win.
So I concur that when in doubt DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

My favourite round start is to 5p and stand there as my opponent whiffs a move. It has the same energy as taking off a glove, and then backhanding them with the glove you just took off. Plus you can whiff punish after. Disrespectful and risky with a chance at reward

I've found that j.HS is a decent round start move as a hard read for lows, and on counterhit it combos into 2K>2D
I play dhalsim in street fighter, and I've played the potem because I love grapplers, but after getting better with zoning option in sf6 im thinking I might pick axl up and give him a shot
You were great at FF! Was rooting for you to make top 8, but you had a hell of a run.
I've seen my Axl gameplay improve a ton after internalizing just parts of what you put in the guide, and I'd be pretty stoked to hear your take on the his changes. Now that you've played him at a major, how does Axl feel on the latest patch? Is there anything significant you'd change from this guide with the buffs he got?

Honestly Axl feels REALLY strong in this patch, I have high hopes for him in the future. He gets more damage routes because of the rainwater buffs, plus some stuff about offense has changed. A lot of stuff feels similar though in regards to his neutral, although I'll add some fine tuning with the options that he has now. Look out for a new video soon!

you need to make sure you’re charging rensen during 5P, so hold back/down back to charge rensen and you’ll be able to use it once you hit the 5P

Very odd question, but which thumb do you use to jump on hitbox? I've been looking around to see what other axl players jump with.
For some reason when I do CH 2S> 5P> Rensen.8 combo I noticed that I am unable to properly get the rensen out in time, instead I get f.S even though im doing [4] during the 5P. Am I perhaps not charging it long enough during the 5P? Or do I charge once I hit 5P?
If f.S is coming out, I'm assuming you're either pressing S too fast before you press 6, or you're not charging long enough. Hope this helps!

I practiced it in training and can confirm that Fast PRC Bomber goes weeeeeeeeeee!
I do have some trouble getting the kick to come out quickly after the PRC. I mash and sometimes it launches and sometimes the whole PRC animation plays and then the kick comes out. Is it just a timing thing?
i believe that it might be a timing thing, although i mash the K button as i do the PRC Bomber and it mostly works

you have to air dash then hold down RC while the airdash is coming out

This string still works! If I don’t feel confident in landing Axl Bomber after j.D, i will go for this string - 5P > 41236H! We also get 2H OTG off of it now because of the new changes!

Are these moves still viable in season 3?
Axl's general gameplan has not changed, but some situations have changed because of S3 changes, leading to different uses of blockstrings and combos.
