Amazon have really dropped the ball by making the PPV available in America only. Considering one of the headliners has a huge fan base in his homeland AND time difference means the show will be on at around midday Sunday in Australia, prime TV viewing time. Such a missed opportunity

Why are boxing fans so worried about the casual fan and PPV buys? Absolutely irrelevant to me. I just wanna see good fights

I don’t know how good he will become as he is an 8rd fighter now, but it’s interesting to see if he dances with the more elites in the 10rds.

I have prime TV but I won’t be paying for Pitbull vs Rolly. If the PBC expects to generate serious cash with Prime, they need to copy the UFC model: where if it’s a PPV, it’s truly stacked. Otherwise PBC and Amazon Prime will not make any difference.
Truly stacked full of bums, MMA is a sport where people are not even close to an elite level they need to put all their best fighters on 1 card to sell it because they have like 10 elite fighters. Ngannou, Perreira, Izzy and several others just entered the sport of mma and become champions being complete novices
@@B.A5377 the UFC understands that if they put on crappy cards, the paying customer will not be around for long. The PBC for too long has put on average cards as PPV.
Fact is the PBC keeps loosing its TV partners. It needs to learn, it can’t keep doing the same thing and get different results.
On paper promoters did a good job with match-making last year. But many of them like Crawford vs. Spence, Inoue vs. Fulton, Garcia vs. Tank weren't competitive fights.
Flooding the zone with shiny belts in the hope it translates to big fights and instant stardom is actually a lot of the problem today. A short cut to fans having a legit long term investment.

This opening should do just as well or better than if it were on the usual platform given that 9/10 the general public already has an amazon subscription. But also the fact that rolly is the youngest fighter on this card there’s lots of casual fans who want to see him get KOd
The casuals were blocked from learning about the newer fighters as media keep celebrating less than a handful of characters who did well, in the past. Those notable characters did everything NOT to fight better opponents who could beat them. As for porter, “his guy” thurman is an example of promoting a fighter living off his name rather than his efforts. As porter said he thought thurman would win, i thought porter was trying to help his friend make money. That would have been to the expense of the fans. Canelo, tank and ryan lived off such “star” power.

I wasn’t going to ppv it, not with thurman in the main event. His name has lost it’s luster and no matter how nostalgic some people are, i’m not living in the past. Fundora adds legitimacy to the card, and his level of “current” activity and skills makes the card intriguing now.

I think journalist need to educate all fans to the real qualities of boxing, not appease the “fan friendly” preference of the casuals. That “fan friendly” casuals equation needs to become more educated by the journalists or by the “fan friendly” fighter LOSING if he can’t beat the better fighter.

If you ask me, boxing is in serious trouble, and taking several steps back from where it seemed to be headed in 2023. The matchups and promotion methods are turning boxing into a Logan Paul kind of sport. Too much bad media promotion and empty calling out talk, poor performances in the ring and greed … the fans aren’t getting enough back from this sport.
