Assassin's Creed Rogue is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and published by Ubisoft.
It is the seventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and is set between 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and 2012's Assassin's Creed III with its final mission being the prologue to 2014's Assassin's Creed Unity.
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control.
The story is set in the mid-18th century during the Seven Years' War, and follows Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin-turned-Templar who hunts down former members of his Brotherhood after being betrayed by them. - Hry
Technically speaking, even "betraying" them, he was the most loyal to the creed

You have right Edward would'be agreed too and if he saw that Adewale is on the side of Achilles, his heart would break and not only Altaïr Ezio and Edward would be on Shay's side but Bayek would definitely be on his side

I remember when Connor told Achilles that " not with the men like you left in charge" now I truely get it why.
If Connor would see what Achilles did in the past or even met the past version of Achilles (one from Rogue), he would disgusted himself, seeing that old man was no better than Charles Lee and Templars (not to mention that would finally agree with the Templars and his father Haytham).

He would fall to frivolous peer pressure but not the kind that can cost lives
They did a really good job of making the assassins look like the villains in this game.
Not really, the game actually makes Shay look like an idiotic manchild with temper tantrum.
@@Bmhtsos18 you must’ve played a different game. Because Shay pretty much had no choice but to leave the brotherhood. He tried to tell them to stop looking for these precursor sites and why they are dangerous and they wouldn’t even listen to him. Plus the colonial brotherhood broke the rules of the creed. The game really blurs the line and shows that not all the assassins are good people and not all Templars are bad. Maybe pay attention next time
@@darthnater9731 He tried to tell them? Right after Shay returned from Lisbon he just stormed in the Brotherhood's hideout yelling and threatening instead of simply explaining what happened! @@Bmhtsos18 no. He tried to explain what happened and they dismissed everything he had to say. Yeah you are wrong. Achilles even admitted later on in the game that Shay was right. So yeah
@@darthnater9731 Shay didn't even try to explain, he just burst in there being all self-righteous and furious. How was Achilles supposed to know what was going on when Shay was busy yelling instead of explaining?
I can see where this is going.
1. Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent: The Colonial Assassins had inadverently murdered people by toppling Seismic Temples, which were meant to keep the earth stabilized, causing two major earthquakes that hit Portugal and Haiti, the likes never seen before.
2. Hide from plain sight: The Colonial Assassins recruited criminal gangs to extort civilians, inadvertently exposing themselves from plain sight.
3. Never Compromise the Brotherhood: The Creed the Colonial Assassins believed in is severely compromised by Achilles' megalomania and disregard for the tenets the Assassins stand for.
Bayek, Altair, Ezio and Arno would be more than disgusted at seeing their Colonial counterparts come to this. It's a complete 360 degree turn from what the Assassins are originally are.
I think Edward Kenway would’ve been pissed at Achilles too

I find it funny when Achilles shouted to Shay that he won't let him destroy everything they built. Achilles himself, unknowingly, had already corrupted everything they stood for and destroyed everything the Brotherhood had created.
Shay didn't betray the assassins they betrayed him
The one time I was rooting for a Templar, That is Shay Cormac.
And Haytham. The colonial templars were somehow the good guys compared to the Assassins (Until Connor arrived, of course)
Seeing connors outfit on Achilles is a tear in my eye knowing that purge of the American assassins is just right around the corner i knew it was gonna happen. It just sucks i had to kill them all

Yeah. Belief some brotherhood passed it to the colonies, and someone modified it in some way.
Shay never betrayed the Assassins. The Assassins betrayed him
Shay didn't betray the Assassins, they betrayed themselves. Shay just had the better moral compass. Such and underexplored and underappreciated protagonist in the AC series
12:10 The turning point.....
If Achilles listened to Shay, none of this would’ve happened. If Shay explained what happened, none of this would’ve happened.
Valid points
He did explain. They just didn't believe him.
They didn’t give Shay a chance.
Maybe because they don’t trust him that much they don’t value him that much they don’t respect him that much and what did it cost them?

Some of you in here completely missed the point of the game and still think the assassins are always the good guys. Not true. And this game shows us a different perspective
Assassins aren’t the good guys. Mackendal, Achilles, Al Mulam and hell even Altair to an extent. Assassins who strayed from the good and honest creed that came before them. No wonder Haytham, Baptiste, Shay and others like Duncan Walpole, Lucy Stillman and Daniel Cross came to the Templars. Altair and ezio would’ve sided with Shay. What the assassins were doing in this game is wrong they broke the rules of the creed and were willing to let thousands die all so that they could get the precursor artifacts before the Templars.
@@darthnater9731 playing the game for myself honestly Shay was in the wrong and didn't really tell Achilles what exactly happened he lashed out at him yeah the Assassins fucked up with the precursor boxes but it was a fuck up that Shay could've easily stopped by using his words instead of being an arrogant, hypocritical, self righteous asshole. Honestly shame on Ubisoft for guilt triping players by making the Colonial Assassin's fucking up be the excuse to say Assassin's are not good either. Especially when you pay close attention to ALL of the templar actions throughout all the games including Haytham's templars who were again also wrong.
I have just done this memory for AC Rogue - and one thing strikes me. Shay just lashed out in anger and guilt at Achilles. He formed his own viewpoint to fit what was happening and wouldn't listen to any discussion - he set his mind on a path and let nobody distract him. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the story unfolds, but at least what I know so far, I can't see how Shay thinks he's doing the right thing or that Achilles is mad with power.
He did try to tell Achilles tho, Achilles was also extremely stubborn and just kicked him out, even his friends didn't listen to him, the only course of action was to destroy the manuscript so that they couldn't find anymore precursor sites, and who wouldn't be riddled with guilt, he literally destroyed an entire city of thousands just by touching the piece of Eden, no one would be thinking straight after that, and shay tried to tell Achilles the second time as well in a much more calmer way, when they met while he took the manuscript, Achilles still didn't listen and engaged in combat first, even when they were on the cliff, they didn't listen and shot him
Achillles is full of it tbh.
No, Achilles just didn’t listen. He sent shay on a mission that he knew would end in tragedy after what happened in Haiti just to grab at power before the templars could. Even when he’s arguing with shay he dismisses him and says ‘it was a delicate operation maybe you-‘ trying to place all the blame upon him, saying he’s responsible for the Lisbon being destroyed because he wasn’t careful enough.
@@jakef2365 They are both at fault. The Earthquake was going to happen anyways. If the story was flipped and the Templars grabbed the piece of eden first then the Assassins would be all "justice for lisbon" and whatever. What matters is what you do with your power. People die every day. The best the Assassins' could've done was prevent the Templars from taking these pieces that would causes insane natural destruction, but that would open up these cities to become battlegrounds on the surface and in the shadows.
@@nnoir maybe. Haytham is a smart fellow though. He wouldn't have reacted like achilles. Actually i suspect he might've gone to retrieve the piece of eden himself and seen firsthand what it did. The truth is that once confronted with the theory that meddling with the pieces of eden caused an earthquake, achilles was in denial and got defensive whereas haytham let go of the chase for other precursor pieces immediately and listened to shay.
Yes the Colonial assassins made a mistake but pretty much all assassin brotherhoods throughout history would have acted the same way.
Criticism of the assassins in Rogue can also be seen in other games where they are not criticised.
The assassins create a gang in Syndicate, Edward had the Assassins logo on his pirate flag, Ezio is responsible for all the death of innocents in cappadocia in Revelations all to kill 1 fat old man who he could have easily killed in a different way and of course just about every assassin kills Templars wether they are good or bad just because they are a Templar as seen by Connor in AC3, Pierre Bellec in Unity…..
That’s what I thought. I can understand why they want some Templars dead like those Borgia scum (They didn’t follow the Templar ideologies and virtues, they only crave power for their family), but other Templar like Shay, Haytham, Monroe, real live John Pitcairn, Otso Berg (He did some good things)
I’d be curious what’ll happen if Liam was there with Shay
Impossible. Liam was the second in comand of the Order. Achilles need him right by his side. He sended Shay because had the potencial to be one of the best but in that time wasn't a important piece in the Order. And only him because of discretion and to cut losses in case of the defeat. Think that the Templar and the portugeses weren't the only dangers. The travels between the New World and the Old weren't the same that those of now. Fail because bad weather sunk the ship was a true possibility.

@@GardG4m3r Achilles didn't belived Shay or wanted to give him a change. You must understand until that moment Achilles was in a winning streak and Shay was the black sheep in the Order. In the mind of Achilles Shay was wrong, for that reason he fought him in his room instead deescalate the situation with a conversation.
The moment that Shay stole the book was as good as dead. Because he wouldn't give it back and the Order would do anything to get it back. For that reason Shay was shoot, even without Achilles giving the order, all knew how important was the book for Achilles and the Order and Shay was someone that crossed the line to many times.

And as Achilles said to Connor years later, he failed the Brotherhood.
Achilles was a good assassin a better person, but was a bad leader. If you played AC3 he never orders, only helps Connor in his misions and lends his experience when needed. I thing that the triumphs and victories before AC Rogue made him too confident. And Achilles didn't belive Shay because he considered him inmature, arrogant and in shock for the tragedy of Lisboa. If you replay the scene in the cliff Achilles didn't order to anyone to shoot Shay. And in the end, when Achilles discovers the truth, gives the reason a Shay immediately.
Arno Victor Dorian was a Good Assassin once again after Connor and Shay , before he turned into a Assassin-in between-Templar , unlike his fellow brotherhood even his mentor Achilies

14:23 that's the weapon and outfit room in assassin's creed 3 you tried to open
Hard to believe that Ezio and Achilles are alike in many way. Both became assassin's at young ages, both lost their family to the templars and both sought revenge but Ezio didn't kill the man who was (completely) responsible, Rodrigo Borgia but in the sequel it wasnt rodrigo who went back and attacked Ezio's home but his son out of Ego and unlike ezio, Achilles would murder the innocent if it ment killing as many templars as he could...
Eh, I think you could argue the Assassins betrayed him.
The thing I like about Shay is he wasn't a one dimensional mustache twirling villain. He defected to the Templars because he genuinely thought it was the right thing to do. It broke his heart to have to go against his former allies and friends, and in the end he even persuaded Haytham to spare Achilles. As someone who still mainly sides with the Assassins, this game did a damn good job of making me sympathize with and understand the motivations of a Templar.
Not betraying actually, matter of fact, the assassins betrayed him, he was shot in the back kinda sounds like betrayal huh?
In real history, was there really a major earthquake in Haiti in this year?
Yes. And the Lisbon earthquake was real too. They obviously tweaked a few details of it for the story in the game
16:00 spoken like a true templar, this is what i like about AC Creed, both sides are wrong, thinking they get to decide whats best for the world, Fredoom turning into Anarchy, control turning into Slavery... both wrong...
The assassin’s and Templars remind me a lot of the democrat and republican parties. I think they might have taken inspiration there
Shay did not betray the assassins he taught them that they were not always right by showing them What was right the assassins grew arrogant shay shattered there arrogant at the end they ended maturely and Creed became better
And how exactly is what Shay did, betrayal? They didn’t even treat him like a human, but an object.
Basically the whole plot could have been avoided if Shay and the rest of the Assassins had better communication skills.
Its so weird that we all once used to think that these graphics were amazing.
As much as I liked this game. I think they should have made the assassins less evil and more just about how Shay saw both sides and decided to defect for his own personal grievances

How could assassins possibly think they r the good guys

They are not even assassin's 🤣 they are like templars but with higher level 🤣
Shay just burst in the room yelling at Achilles and stomping his foot like a manchild and jumped into the conclusion that the Assassins knew what would happen without allowing Achilles to explain himself and yet some people here say that the Assassins are the ones who betrayed Shay. Not to mention that Achilles told Shay to be careful with the artifact yet Shay, upon finding the artifact, just picks it up without even considering that there might be trap in there. And yet Shay Cormac here blames the Assassins for his own stupidity and immaturity and joins the Templars, who actually are what Shay thinks of the Assassins. Our hero everyone!
And yet achilles in his infinite wisdom didn't think that the Earthquakes weren't related at all. And even after this event he continued to look for more. He even tried to attack shay who was just trying to get rid of the manuscript in a similar way that Ezio tried to get rid of the apple as they both knew that no one, not even the assassins should possess it. Achilles also broke the tenets of the creed which led to the failure of his corrupt brotherhood. Shay was more an assassin than the colonial brotherhood was, even after his conversion to the Templar ideology.
@@ace9924 Of course Achilles connected the earthquakes with the Precursor items and he did tell Shay to be careful with the artifact. It's not Achilles' fault that Shay didn't consider that there might be a trap in the room where he found the artifact. Shay was rash, reckless and self-righteous. He was so busy blaming the Assassins while being so full of himself. Shay becoming a Templar also makes zero sense, the Templars are exactly what Shay thinks of the Assassins so the logical thing to do would be either going neutral or overthrowing Achilles and getting control of the Colonial Brotherhood to clean it of corruption. Shay reaffirmed his loyalty to the Templats even after he found out what they truly are. And not to mention the murder of Arno Dorian's father right in front of the poor kid. Shay proved himself to be far more corrupt than the entire Colonial Brotherhood.
@Δημήτρης Μπάρδας there was no way of being careful with them and it wasn't an apple and even achillies didn't bother to inspect it and use it properly because he didnt know how to. He didn't make the connection because he didnt want to. He was hungry for precursor artifacts whereas shay didn't want anything to do with them.
@@ace9924 Yes there was a way to be careful, inspect the whole room for possible traps and report back for help. Achilles did make some connection between the artifact and the earthquakes which is why he told Shay to be careful with it. I don't see how was Achilles hungry for the artifacts, what I see is that he wanted to keep the artifacts away from the Templars by any means necessary. I also see Shay being quite self-righteous, quick to blame others but not questioning himself at all.
@Δημήτρης Μπάρδας he literally did as he took responsibility for his part in the disaster whereas achillies didn't and wasn't even phased by the deaths in Lisbon at all. Achillies wanted to use the artifacts against the Templar and in his pursuits he was breaking the tenets of the creed whereas shay upheld them more than he did, even as a Templar ironically.
