Assassin's creed 1 was incredible. Your targets were always doing something bad but with good intentions. Everytime I kill my target i would have a "oh shit he's right" thought in my head. It shows the true nature of the assassins vs Templar fight. None of them are good, but none of them are bad too.
You know, for the flack AC3 gets I liked that about it's villains.
I love Ezio and his saga but the enemies then were basically just evil people doing evil shit for power.
In AC3 I once again felt chills from an enemy's dying words. Even Thomas Hickey, the Templar with the flimsiest loyalty to the order, had some cutting words for Connor.
@@adamvialpando106 I totally agree. Ezio was like this hero who makes no mistakes with his decisions. He makes the assassins look like the avengers or something. Who never makes a mistake and is always right. However the assassin templar conflict always revolves around this idea of morality. Would you kill one to save millions or would you not kind of thing. However for AC3's case, personally, i value how the assassin looks quite a great deal. And a huge buff native american doesn't scream "assassin" to me. But that's just me though.
@@guythatstillusespocketwatc3145 it was just the borgia family and the pazzis they were fucked up but the assassins in 2 were not avengers in any way and look at the way ezio is in the cinematic trailer for 2 especially when the main templar target just had one of the guards have fun until he had his throat sliced. Well, Richard knew that Altair had already single-handedly slayed a lot of his men. So it's kinda fair competition.
I love how respectful Altair is when clashing ideologies with the Templar Leader. He’s cryptic, sure, but you can hear the passion and conviction in his voice as he argues his points. And I like that the Templar leader isn’t wrong, just has a different perspective.
Assassins in the old days were just supposed to be activated when things were running out of control. But the plot works as if it was always costly for the order itself, like AC: China when the entire order was nearly extinct. The "respect" Altair has, comes from the roots of the assassins exactly because of that. It is not respecting anybody's perspective, least Templars. Think of them like the Jedi. They're not calm because they respect the Sith, it is so not to become one. Nothing is true, remember their motto.
Thats not how It works. Both cant be right at the same time, one has to be fundamentally wrong, even though it doesnt look like it

No matter how many of these games they make, the first one will always be my favourite. No gimmicks, just pure story-telling. Awesome.
Not only that, but it also has the most interesting story and best authenticity, I think.

The story is chilling when you learn about the influence the Vatican still has today. Jesuits killed Lincoln
When Templars and Assassins actually had reasonable motives. Also gotta love how Altair makes peace with the templars after killing their traitor for them
Yeah, I'm still impressed there are ppl thinking that only templars suck and the assassins are always the good guys. Come on, Altair didn't kill whole templar order, just its traitors. Besides, he even had to kill his own master which was an assassin.
He was speaking to Crusaders who had Templars in their ranks. The one he was bartering with was Richard the Lionheart. He didn't make peace with the Templars; he purged the last of the Templars from the Crusaders to help them.

Altair is lawful neutral. No matter what side he says he fights for he only wants to see what’s right be done.
That’s called Neutral Good aka doing the right thing because it’s right, not because law says so and without being corrupted by overzealous beliefs.
Lawful Neutral means that you don’t care about what’s good or evil, only the Law matters.
The assassins are chaotic and the templars lawfull by definition in these games.
@@niels8143 Shay Cormac and Haytham Kenway have proved they can be lawful neutral too

Same here. I love this game. Total underrated.
ricardo ramirez right with you on the time period. Wish they'd take us back to it. I'm happy bout the new spartan one though
When Altair knocks someone over from a counter, they're vulnerable to a ground stab with the hidden blade, which is an instant kill. This can also be initiated by grabbing the enemy and throwing them to the ground. From there, one guard in the group will stagger, opening himself to another hidden blade stab if you unlock from the fight. This can be chained indefinitely until you make a mistake. Using light attacks is a waist of time and exposes you to damage by prolonging the fight when everything dies in one hit. This is how you fight the way Altair canonically did, as some commentors have pointed out: Without getting hit even once
Thats lame
Canonically speaking the templars were also considered knights and had a sense of honor, so they wouldn't have ganged up on him like they did in the fight. Plus, canonically speaking, no one says the assassin leaves every fight unscathed..... Especially since from a realistic point of view no one is leaving a 1v9-11 fight unscathed..... If you want to speed run through fights, go for it.... But if you want to enjoy combat and the animations then you fight with the sword.
@@centurionyt431 Honour codes are idealist nonsense. The average knight cared little for honour beyond lawful ways of killing each other. Even amongst the ones that did, knight orders would not consider someone like Altair, a non noble, deserving of any code of formalities and simply dealt with however possible.
@@siraethelwulf8914 that's not true actually. Considering all the accounts, honor codes were in effect in many cases even for non-nobles... And they weren't really idealistic nonsense since they were actually used.... there are accounts during the crusades of knights upholding honor codes even against Muslim warriors... honor codes were in effect for all combatants and not just nobility. For example, many instances are seen where common soldiers and knights uphold honor codes and submit themselves exclusively to single combat.
Plus, not all knights were nobles either. The two began to merge over time but that had to wait until the 12th and 13th century.... especially since nobles paid for their own private armies in many instances and provided for their gear and logistical needs, knights were basically those paid "privateers". As such, knights were sometimes peasantry, but most of the time middle class landowners, that although they were not serfs they didnt have much representation still because they weren't the actual nobility.

You could one-shot any enemy, even Al Mualim, but on the other hand couldn't block and had to dodge or counter-attack every enemy attack.
TheWitchking123 people like to say AC2 was the best in the franchise but AC takes the spot definitely
Tripper flipper I was never able to get into AC2 for a lot of reasons. While it was mechanically a better game, it was overall a disappointment for me.
TheWitchking123 oh really, how so?
TheWitchking123 the atmosphere is just amazing
I was like, 8 years old playing this game. Its knowledge was WAY ahead for me.

RIP Assassin's Creed
I want one more game with Altair as the protagonist 😥😥😥
AC Bloodlines on psp
If you want more of Altair, there is always the novel.
AC Revelations, kinda
@Badass Batman More than half, unfortunately. Revelations really should’ve been half Altair and half Ezio, with Constantinople fully explorable in both time periods. It would’ve been awesome.
Hopefully an Assassins Creed 1 remake. They are planning to remake Prince of Persia Sands Of time.
This game makes me feel the darkness of medieval age, the coldness of society it was back then
Middle ages crime rate in england was higher than any city now.

Back when Assassin's creed story had a deep meaning 😍
This fighting is so much more realistic than origins, odyssey and what Valhalla has shown. No hitting someone 500 times to kill them, no random numbers popping up on screen, no enemies with literal superpowers.... When will AC get back to this
Right I hate the combat now, I stopped playing after origins
Loved this style of combat tho wish it just wasnt as easy as parrying everything. Too many memories of me alerting the gaurds and absolutely wiping out a fortress. its fun tho i wanna be an assassin so id restart
Even mirage doesn't beat this , what times we live , older games had more passion and better stories , now everything is ruined
this combat is not realistic at all lol

Russian Koloss Yeah, it's cool to have your own opinion, it's cool to hate something that you once liked. It's also fucking cool to buy every AC game that's coming every year. Fuck off. AC1 is underrated. Great story and plot twist
Everyone in Middle East: Middle Eastern Accent
Badass born and raised in Middle east: American Accent
I didn't get it and everyone in middle east is a baddass bruh
I think it was because of a fault in the Animus used by Abstergo. In AC2, when we used the Animus engineered by Rebecca Crane, we got the appropriate accents most likely used in Renaissance’s Italy. And when Altair appears in AC Revelations via the exact same Animus, we heard what was his most likely real accent.
I love Altair’s voice tbh.
His voice is nice but younger. I prefer the spanish one.

Honestly, they never should have explored any orders before this point. The creation of Assassins and Templars make the most sense for this period.
In fact, many of the assasins in the game don't seem to know the true intentions of the templars and their own order. They believe their purpose is just to preserve peace in the Holy Land. Only El Mualim, and later Altair, know what's happening behind scenes. It comes across as a little strange when you see in Origins and Odissey the ancestors of the two orders knowing more about the lore than their successors.
@@westerntiredyoung4938 true. and the protagonist that we play in new ac games are not even fooking assassins, wtf. wheres the templar at? change the name of the game if it is not an ac game

@@mont9150 Bayek was the first Assassin
I honestly think the reason is due to the order being crushed and rebuilt several times over. It wouldn’t surprise me if one branch lost the original members before the younger generation could be briefed on their true goals. Kinda how Ezio, Edward Kenway and Connor had to rebuilt their order after the templars destroyed the previous one.
One of the toughest moments encountered till date. There were also numerous enemy waves prior to it.

the dialogues and the overall writing was so much better compared to what we have now
Everything is so so so perfect but subtitles were not there. 😢
I recommend the book, it takes dialogue to another level
Deno65 probably the biggest flaw with AC1 was the lack of subtitles. Seriously, WTF
@@hypn0298 I found it humorous when they explained they updated the Animus in AC2 when they added subtitles in the sequel.
I actually played it in german and in english. Both versions have great writing and dialogue.
The real assassins creed died with the third, after that the games don't have the atmosphere that the past games had, they don't feel like ac games anymore.
Tvrtko Tsar I agree but the new games aren’t bad, just not assassins creed
Tvrtko Tsar sadly that is true
AC Rogue and 4 were ok. Just that the combat was too easy in some cases in the former, and combat limited in the latter.
Ac3 was the best assassins creed in my opinion
AC 1 gave us one of the best plots the franchise could have, AC 2 and its sequels, Brotherhood and Revelations, gave us one of the best character personality the franchise could have, even though Revelations is kinda weak, and AC 3, even though it isn't to my liking, gave us one of the best combat experiences that the franchise could have. After that, I don't understand what is Assassin's Creed anymore. Black Flag was a good game IMO but it shouldn't been called Assassin's Creed, it should've been called PIRATE'S CREED. The only thing that felt "Assassin's Creed" vibe to it was when hunting down all of those people related to the templars but after that, all I could remember about Black Flag is about "FIRE! FOIRE! FOI-YAH!". At this point, I gave up to this franchise and after all that, all I've heard about the next AC games were horrible glitches, revolutions, and stunning locations.
BTW, do you guys remember Prince of Persia? I wonder when can we see Altair and The Prince fight against each other.
I hit a bug when playing this level. There were two Altairs on screen. I was able to control both of them at the same time but was able to hurt one Altair with the other. It made the fight pretty interesting when watching two different characters parrying and striking. When one was in a parry animation the other was able to strike. With two assassins on screen, the flow of combat was fast.
13 years later and this game still looks great
people still play this game. pure gold. If only they remake it with current graphics, less repetitive mission, better boss fight, better modern day part
Ouch I feel like this and AC II had the most consistent and interesting modern day sequences though full of potential, mystery, and intrigue. The others, especially Black Flag, came off as corny
This ac.. the end fight was so anti climactic for me. I finally made it to the last boss fight and on the first attack killed the correct one
I really liked the modern day in this one. Like how you could steal their computer codes, sneak out at night and read their emails and shit. I know you can read emails in later games but in this it felt way cooler and sneakier idk.
Then it will not be a remake
@Taramafor Haikido its a trope fs, but its not corny to want revenge for your family being murdered lol
i enjoy playing assassins creed

Wow I didn’t know it was real place. So cool
AC1 is legendary it deserves a remake.
I miss this old combat style so much!! Just counter counter counter makes you feel like a complete badass lol
AC1 will always be the most mysterious AC game yet and you actually felt like you are an actual assassin in this one unlike the other ones (except for Origins) who see u infiltrating and once you get out the area they act like nothing happen.
You didn't realy play ac origins
Mario Sanon actually origins is one of the best in the series.. I'm sure you didn't understand the story bayek created the brotherhood with aya's help and they both created stealth techniques, moreover both did important assassinations against templers and Egyptians who betrayed Egypt
GamingND i mean Origins and Ac1 actually had actual stealth the others is just you go blazing in and kill your target and once you run away they A.i is so stupid that they are so lazy to actually chase you. AC1 and Origins they chase all across the city until you escape the city entirely or go into the Assassin bureau.
Mario Sanon In Ac 4 they chased you when you.ran away from restricted areas and you had to sneak away or fight your way out when you killed your targets
MAHAN 195
Except they did.
They unified their group together to kill Ceaser & everyone else trying to conquer the world.
They standardised the use of the hidden blade.
They started the ring-finger sacrifice.
They created the 3 Tenants.
Aya started the blade-in-the-crowd.
Bayek standardised the white hood.
Etc.
Altair is truly the best and the coolest
Hes so brave
you cant forget ezio who also rebuilt the brotherhood and took out the borgia leaving a big dent on the templars
We went from passionate ideological fights and story, with morally grey characters and legitimate causes for both protagonist and antagonist, to... whatever Assassin's Creed is today.
If assassin's creed franchise kept that style like in the 1st game, they would've won GOTY

This shows a lot of how Templars and Assassins have very similar ideals, beliefs and end goals. They both want peace in the end however they way they go about it differed and this changes throughout history and throughout the games. Very fascinating. An ongoing story and war between these two could’ve made very complex stories and ideas throughout the games unfortunate assassins creed story is far from Grace now.
Actually the first Assassin's Creed game inspired by a novel called "Alamut" which was written by Vladimir Bartol. This is the source of atmosphere in this game.
What is the novel about? (no spoilers please)
''The novel is set in the 11th century at the fortress of Alamut (Persian: قلعه الموت), which was seized by the leader of the Ismailis, Hassan-i Sabbah or Sayyiduna (سیدنا, "Our Master"). At the start of the story, he is gathering an army for the purpose of attacking the Seljuk Empire, which has taken over possession of Iran. The story opens from the point of view of Halima who was purchased by Hassan to become a houri. The story commences with the journey of young ibn Tahir, who is, according to his family's wish, intending to join the Alamut garrison. There, he is appointed to the squad of the most valiant soldiers, named the fedai (فدائی). Fedai are expected to obey orders without demur and forfeit their lives if necessary. During their demanding training, they come to be convinced that they shall go to heaven immediately after their death if they die in the line of duty. Meanwhile, Halima joins the other houris in the garden which Hassan has been building, the young girls are educated in various arts by the leader of the houris and confidant to Hassan, Miriam. Hassan managed to achieve such level of obedience by deceiving his soldiers; he gave them drugs (hashish) to numb them and afterwards ordered that they be carried into the gardens behind the fortress-which were made into a simulacrum of heaven, including houris. Therefore, fedayin believe that Allah has given Hassan the power to send anybody to Heaven for a certain period. Moreover, some of the fedayin fall in love with houris, and Hassan unscrupulously uses that to his advantage.''
Don't worry there is no spoiler :)
I believe Alamut actually coined the whole “Nothing is true, everything is permitted”.
Şafak Ceylan is that the whole summary of the novel?
I thought it was initially supposed to be some kind of updated prince of persia. Neat.
