Honestly this should’ve been the game itself. 1300 style where the Templar are losing power and assassins are slowly losing numbers. This would’ve been fun to play as a two faction system where you get to pick the sides with different stories but same timeline and setting like they did with Shay and Connor.
This part was extremely cool, one of the best bits of story I think AC has had. It’s an awesome combination of actual history involving the Knights Templar and the Assassin’s Creed story
Now and even a year ago, you should really just playthrough Unity and not expect the greatest game in the series and just straight up play for fun and entertainment. Enjoy the parkour and the open world. Enjoy the combat system too. People get so bent out of shape over this game but looking back and replaying it recently it's a great game when you stop comparing it to everything else.
Kevin Yeah. The main problems people had with the game were glitches and performance and sorta had a mob mentality against it at the time. Other than that it’s a solid game and actually one of my favorites in the series. Revolutionary Paris has an amazing atmosphere and the graphics are gorgeous. Not to mention it has one of the best parkour systems out of any game ever.
At least Unity didn't feel like a mobile game. Glitches are one thing. Purposefully making your game a slow grind just to temp me into buying xp boosters is another.
And on that faithful day, Jacques De Molay did bring Pope Clemens and King Philip before the tribunal of God, for neither of them got to live to the end of the year. God favored the Templars that day.
Honestly, I can imagine playing as a Templar and being involved in some major battles to keep the Templars safe. This was more interesting because the idea of exploring them more thoroughly would've been intriguing.
It's like this part of the game was made by a different development team than the rest of the game. Gameplay, ambient, graphics , and story is better than the rest of the game. If they truly want to make an interesting story Ubisoft they can if they want to, but they often choose to make mistakes with setting and storyline. This is in fact the perfect setting for a Templar and an assassin to fight each other as the Templar order was active during this period of time. Medieval Europe is the best setting for an AC game.
I seriously don't understand why they haven't made this a game, or, better yet, made a whole canon spinoff series of the Templars. They make it clear whoever is good or bad is up to personal interpretation, yet we never get to play as a Templar.
How good would this have been, imagine, let's say that you are one of the last survivors of the Templar Order, and you see your friends and mentors murdered by the Assassin's plan, then you vow to recreate the order but not as it once was, for peace, but for order, your doctrine would follow the ages until it reaches Abstergo, this would have been a fuking nice plot, instead we get the same boring Assassin's are powerful, 1 Assassin kills all the Templars etc etc
Raiko Seria The assassin's killed for the sake of the people. Templars did what ever they could to control. Absolutely control. Now, you think the templars are grand and dandy, but no. They want control EVERYWHERE.
I want to learn more about Thomas de Carneillon. It would be cool if we can get a game about him. And of course Medieval Europe is a must for an AC game. It’s my favorite era in any games.
This is one of the best introductions of the saga, it is a pity that AC: Unity was not based 100% in a context of middle age, the truth would have been great.
1:31 the guy said that the mongol already ended the assassins. This is real and in the history, assassins organization start around 1100 and ended in 1252 or something around that.
Fun Fact: the only branch of the Templars to survive it's purge were the Spanish branch, who had a close relationship with Spanish royalty. They would begin the foundation of the Spanish Inquisition.
Imagine playing the game from the perspective of the Templar’s in their early history. You’d be fighting against and with legendary figures like Saladin and the Lionheart instead of the generic French soldier or thugs🤦♂️
@@fascistcali7846 I don't think so I think he'll be like the mongol khan and napolean, someone who isn't actively involved in the assassin-templar mess.
The Revolution time period was good but playing in the time Templars were executed would be much more interesting. We would play in a time where the Templars didn't have the upper hand, it would be nice and curious
Yeah, play when the Templars are forced into hiding and thus must changed their order from being out in the open as a rich military order into the secret cabal of power brokers that we see in Ezio’s time or during the colonial times. Fight as a Templar in a medieval kingdom where Assasins had the ears of the king.
I must admit the sword fighting in this scene is fucking amazing, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 level. And the graphics so beautiful. They really need to make a next gen game with 10-13 century setting. Things is thr next AC Empire in gonna be ancient egipt, which is like 1000 B.C i think? Now they went too away in time...I want a Game of Thrones setting, medieval. Like this scene
GoT and medevil ages are Overrated as fuck and don´t deserve that much attention. Ancient Egypt was the perfect setting for AC as it has a way more beautiful and ancient tone that makes everything in the Middle ages look like some depression and Ancient Egypt look like Orgasm. Please go and play Medieval total war or something like that, we don´t need any Medieval fanboys here.
I love the scene where the Assassin stabs the protagonist and he's super surprised. The assassin doesn't linger, he just pisses off and leaves you to die. It shows the cold, calculated brutality. Killing is just another job for them. Just like the baker bakes bread, the assassin murders people. It's disgusting, and shows how detached the assassins are in a lot of ways. Personally, I am very interested in the Templar side of things, and wish there was an entire "Templar Order" spin-off series.
In previous games, after an Assassin killed an important target, there was always this little scene where they talked before the Assassin closed their eyes for them (well, at least some of them had their eyes closed for them).
Man I wish they would have a game where you play as a Templar in the Byzantine empire, preferably in the 1450s. Or maybe even a game that takes place during the American civil war.
@@cube7439 Yea i mean the master assassins were wise enough to even show empathy and compassion as they close the eyes and rookie assassins are usually the hotheaded dickheads.
This made me choke on my spit, Assassins are the good guys wtf? Why do people keep coming up with retarded conspiracy theories about how the templars are good people, they want the pieces of eden to control the world and bend the world to their will, the Assassins may be cold blooded, non-mercy killers, but their main purpose was to keep the pieces of eden from the templars hands so the world can be at peace, the assassin's may be murderers in your sense, but they're the definition of "doing wrong things for the right reason". The assassins aren't detached, they're just doing what ever they have to do to keep pieces of eden from evil, killing who ever that stands in their way, if you're an ac fan you should know this, I'm not trying to be rude or whatever, but there's no point of watching ac videos and playing the games if your going to hate on the assassins? It really triggers my autism that all these French characters are speaking with these cockney English accents for whatever reason. There were parts of AssCreed 2 where characters would speak multiple sentences in Italian. Even in the first one, all the French templar soldiers would speak in nothing but French, and Robert de Sable had a heavy French accent. It really just ruins my immersion.
It's been explained since the first game that the Animus translates languages and dialects in real time to the user in their native language Pretty cool meta explanation to simple language/audio settings. Sorry you missed it.
It would have been amazing if they had somehow connected the betrayal with the Parisian assassins during Arno’s time. Something like gaining some sort of power or privilege from the king. That something would serve as a source of corruption for the order and Arno’d have to root out the traitor. The traitor would take control of the order and have Arno hunted by the assassins. Being close with Elise, she’d become a target too. That’d give Arno a reason to fight back in case he hesitated before. It would also be great if there was catacomb exploration with bonus armor as a price for collecting some keys/seals that unlock a secret vault somewhere in the catacomb or a famous landmark.
Dude must have been one of the most OP Templars, being able to climb with Mail weighing on their shoulders, and being able to sustain the sudden change of gravity catching a ledge from that height. Honestly really liked the opening dude more than Arno.
@@LordVader1094 yeah, just recently heard of this dude Boucicaut that climbed in armor for training. Insane stuff. Probably not insane as the Assassin’s Creed parkour as we know of now but it’s possible
Just give me another medieval assassins creed game goddammit!! Perhaps a bowman who robs from the rich templars to feed the common people inspiring the legend of Robin Hood?
I know right, I even thought about making a Fanmade story line of the Assassins in the aftermath of Philip IV's death, by overthrowing and taking down his three sons ans future kings, Louis X, Philip V, and then Charles IV, to make way for the first King from the House of Valois, ans first King of France in the Hundred Years war, Phillip VI, who was around 21 when Philip IV had died, to me it's stupid how Ubisoft doesn't take fanmade ideas for Assassin's Creed games, the series would be far more incredible if it did.
These games really are a slap in the face to the real Templar Order. If they had any flaws as an Order, it was blindness to what was happening around them and a pride in the security of themselves. It's really very tragic the lack of recognition that they receive for what they did, among them being holding back the mongols, providing safe passage for Pilgrims going to the Holy Land, and in the instance of the Knights if Malta, an Order made of the remnants of the Templars after their fall, holding the island of Malta for 4 months of straight nonstop battle against Suleimans Ottoman empire. I cant be understated how important this even was, because if Sulieman had taken Malta, then likely he would have had most if not all of Europe inside of 2 decades. Instead he burned 4 months, countless ships and around 35,000 of his 40,000 man army on one island held by about 6000 knights.

Ya know what had me really excited? It was when I saw the screen with all the other experiences. I thought we could unlock short little missions and visit short Exerpts from their stories we hadn’t seen yet. But that didn’t happen unfortunately.
Well, the conspiracy is just an alibi to raid the Templars. In real life, the king fabricated some false claims about satanic rituals and orgies within the Templars, so he managed to get the Pope on board. Which is easy, since Clement V is the first of those pro-French Avignon popes.
@@dekalios4588 Not in actual history. Popular culture tends to mix them up, I think, because they were/are religious orders that were/are somewhat secretive, which can lead to secret society-esque fiction very easily. I don't think real freemasonry is actually connected at all to Christianity.
HOLY LORD TEMPLAR SAMUEL: To me Jaques de Molay he... was never evil...he...he was innocent and Pope Clement and King Philip were evil and wanted all the Templar Knights of God dead for nothing the Templars will never die...never they will always be Knights of Christ and Holy God for they are good and light.
NoneOfThem That's it? Your only reason? All factions in history have killed innocent people, sooner or later. The difference with the historical Templars is they were an order that strived to do more good than bad. As their name implies they protected holy Temples in the holy land and offered safe passage to pilgrims, protecting them on their journey. They also refused to get involved in any Secular conflicts, the only conflicts they would be involved with were holy wars or to defend themselves or the pilgrims they escorted from harm. Whereas the Assassin, as their name implied, they would assassinate Kings, Nobles and other high ranking people to achieve their goals. The Templars were actually successful in forcing the Assassin to pay reparations when the Assassins killed good men and did more harm than good. The reason why the Assassin agreed was that the Templars made those demands in times of peace, not war. When a war ends, debts need to be paid, in a manner of speaking.
I think it's very cool how throughout the franchise, the Templars went from stereotypical baddies to morally grey to actually doing good. And the assassin order turned somewhat into that which they fought for so long.
The “thirteenth generation of your blood” line is unbelievably stupid. Philip IV was not at all related to Louis XVI, as Philip was from the House of Capet, while Louis was from the House of Bourbon. The Capets lost power in the 14th Century
Yes and No, The Capetians direct line lost power, the Houses of Valois and Bourbon, are cadet branches, as their ancestry traces back to the Capetian line. And the House of Valois, and then the House of Bourbon, can trace ancestry back to Philip IV, only the line goes through his brother Charles, Count of Valois, rather than Philip IV himself. Same way the House of Bourbon traces its line back through Henry IV, who had been King of Navarre before becoming King of France, which ancestry tracking back to Joan II of Navarre, who was the child of Louis X of France, meaning she was Philip IV's Granddaughter, and this was where Henry IV, as King of Navarre had claim to the French throne, as Philip IV's wife, Joan I, was Queen of Navarre, therefore uniting the Crowns for a short time. and also if you look at the first Capetian king, Hugh Capet, and go to Phillip IV, the 12th generation of the House of Capet, were Phillip IV's sons, Louis X, Philip V, and Charles IV, and the 13th was Louis X's newborn son, John I, who became king at his birth, but died when he was just six days old, Philip V and Charles IV died without a living son, and so, the senior House of Capet, was no more.
That's not the only thing, wondering if that person sitting next to King Phillip IV is meant to be his wife, Joan of Navarre, because she was already dead for 9 years at this point.
Not entirely, however. The armours are anachronistic, Jacques de Molay was accompanied by another Templar on the stake and above all there were no Templars killed during the arrest as it was well organized by the crown. But of course it's normal that Ubisof made these choices to make the arrest more spectacular.
@@sirevangouw1085 that’s true, there were some historical inaccuracies but I still think it’s cool how Ubisoft kinda followed those guidelines for this scene
@@sirevangouw1085 A very late reply, but how were the armors anachronistic? They wear mail and some parts of plate armor. The only thing inaccurate here are the weapons. They are using 17th century sabers and a two handed sword of design that didn't exist at the time. Templars and other French knights should have used arming swords and bastard swords.
@@SorcererKing94 Hi ! The armors of the templars are Indeed not that anachronistic, I should have mention it. But look at King Philip's soldiers, they even wear Horns on their helmets ! Without mentioning the fact that at the beginning of the 14th century in France, the sergeants-at-arms, whether under the control of the king or not, did not have such uniform equipment, there were many variations in the armor from one soldier to another. the profusion of hauberks (only common among knights at that time) and elaborate armor is very unrealistic. But I stand by what I said at the time, it's totally understandable on the part of Ubisoft who wants to make everything more spectacular and attractive for the player.

The rest was a dull find who kill him and romeo and juliet story with a very annoying and weak protagonist
It was kind of fun killing the assassin underlings.
No
No
Thats a damn lie and you know it. I bet you think Odyssey was good too even tho it was an Assassins Creed game in name only.
This has got to be one of the best openings to an AC game. I was so intrigued by this plot.
I wish this was the main game because the Knights were a lot like the Jedi hunted down by all of France
6:06 what every templar sees before they die
Not Shay
Nor Haytha- oh yea
God we NEED a full game of this.
best graphics
The Best of AC unity it's end here.
@@BOLPutube it better than these new ac games
At least Unity didn't feel like a mobile game. Glitches are one thing. Purposefully making your game a slow grind just to temp me into buying xp boosters is another.
I am playing unity at 60 fps on pc its a masterpiece
And on that faithful day, Jacques De Molay did bring Pope Clemens and King Philip before the tribunal of God, for neither of them got to live to the end of the year. God favored the Templars that day.
Honestly, I can imagine playing as a Templar and being involved in some major battles to keep the Templars safe.
This was more interesting because the idea of exploring them more thoroughly would've been intriguing.
Excatly with rogue i still not played been Great when finally you play as templar it was set like this
A game where you're a templar and fighting assassin's and you are not as good as climbing like them would be amazing and scary as the same time!
Hiluminatu l did you play Assassin's creed Rogue
The only game where you play as a good guys'.
Templar sucks. They deserve to die idiot
Yep, and assassin's are good guys period... Sure.
Raiko Seria
The assassin's killed for the sake of the people.
I'm gussing saladin would've been an assassin
@@fascistcali7846 I don't think so I think he'll be like the mongol khan and napolean, someone who isn't actively involved in the assassin-templar mess.
@@fascistcali7846 actually no, they were mortal enemies
@@fascistcali7846 The real Assassins attempted to kill Saladin.
The Rising Theurge fuck off
Yuwan fuck off
LOL you medievalphiles are just wrong and stupid, the Middle ages have been overdone and need to be taken a break from.
Yuwan Speak proper english before attacking others.
Just play ac rogue if you want to be a templar
@@samirraza9069 not true, when arno was a rookie he wasn't a hot headed dickhead, why tf are everyone hating on the assassins all of a sudden? They're the good guys.
This was the best part of Unity. If only they made it into its own game...
i remember playing this 2016 because i had nothing else to do: being in my room with a can of monster and making some sketches doesn't sound as good as it does, the date was 23/08/16 on my dads birthday and when i saw the templar guy get killed i was like: "that escalated quickly..." and i fell in love with the franchise ever since...
What? I don’t hear a single Cockney accent.
Immersion? Put it in French then why the fuck are you playing it in English?
“It really triggers my autism”
I’m sorry but that made me laugh
It's been explained since the first game that the Animus translates languages and dialects in real time to the user in their native language
Pretty cool meta explanation to simple language/audio settings. Sorry you missed it.
Redwald Cuthberting probably just thinks that Cockney is what the standard “English accent” is called.
At 3:20 the chase music is nostalgia, as I remember in Assassin's Creed 1 also had same sort of chase music.
The armour's weight was quite evenly spread, so being able to climb is no surprise.
Fuck the poor! I want Templar knight game.
Well the Templar's did help the poor (In real history) originally
@@jointspecialoperationscomm4838 lol ubisoft aint gonna paint the evil christendom in a good light.
This remembers me Altair Old stile fight with swords and so on Im in love with this mission
Clips like these shows ubisoft can still make great games, but choose not to, for whatever reason
The graphics for this are better than Origins and Odyssey.
this vid really helped me a lot at the point cause I didn't know what to do
These games really are a slap in the face to the real Templar Order.
Those bell sounds always give me goosebumps 😱
Want to know what I think this shows that the Templars arent bad!!
They really aren’t but there methods can be extreme and so can the assassins
Honestly neither the assassins nor the templars are good. They're both fighting over two different ideals which are equally bad.
I wish they actually made this their first true Templar game with ths guy we play as as the protagonist. In the beginning of the game, its a Race against the Assassins to find the Sword of Eden so the Assassins cant use it to enflict "Freedom" basically causing Chaos. As a Templar we will obtain the Sword and lock it away inside the Castle for the betterment of Man Kind until this date where we must lock it away hoping no man will discover it and use it for Chaos.
Iron Master then you will love Assassins creed rogue
@@valon5069 , If I commented on these videos dont you think ive played atleast all the PS3 AC games? Rogue was actually awesome and I did like it alot.

Mother Russia what are the puzzle activities?
Mother Russia Nostradamus quests?
The fighting art makes more sense to be in that era than French revolution

Anyone know the soundtrack for when they break into the gate?
Ubisoft, please give us a full game like this!
Awesome opening
I finally found this I searched everywhere for this mission I thought i was insane and making this mission up
They should make a game set in Portugal because as studies show after this Templars hide in Portugal and they even took the Templar treasure with them when they escaped from france
I'd love an AC game based around this
Ya know what had me really excited? It was when I saw the screen with all the other experiences. I thought we could unlock short little missions and visit short Exerpts from their stories we hadn’t seen yet. But that didn’t happen unfortunately.
fuck i remember wishing to get more of this and all the other stories soo bad, id love alot of short stories like that in 1 game
The series knightfall brought me here It's cool that it is almost exactly the same temple in the series.
I need a medieval era ac game…
Templar in AC: Purged bc of they're complicit in a conspiracy
Templar IRL: Purged bc king of france is too much in debt
Well, the conspiracy is just an alibi to raid the Templars.
In real life, the king fabricated some false claims about satanic rituals and orgies within the Templars, so he managed to get the Pope on board. Which is easy, since Clement V is the first of those pro-French Avignon popes.
@@alexanderchristopher6237 are the freemason linked to the templars?
@@dekalios4588 Not in actual history. Popular culture tends to mix them up, I think, because they were/are religious orders that were/are somewhat secretive, which can lead to secret society-esque fiction very easily. I don't think real freemasonry is actually connected at all to Christianity.
I want a game playing as a Templar during this period of history, the only times we play as a Templar are after the disbanding of the Order.
HOLY LORD TEMPLAR SAMUEL: To me Jaques de Molay he... was never evil...he...he was innocent and Pope Clement and King Philip were evil and wanted all the Templar Knights of God dead for nothing the Templars will never die...never they will always be Knights of Christ and Holy God for they are good and light.
i hate templars because they killed innocent people
Death to all templars
Long live assassin
So did the Assassins.
I think it's very cool how throughout the franchise, the Templars went from stereotypical baddies to morally grey to actually doing good. And the assassin order turned somewhat into that which they fought for so long.
may the father of understanding guide us
I want another game where you play as the Templar’s and it takes place at this time
im forever sad they didnt do more templar stuff like this..
Watching this after Valhalla gives it an entirely different context. Can't wait for the subtle references that will be dropped in the upcoming dlc.
I'm watching on Friday, October 13...
Man I loved unity's graphics
Looks like knightfall trailer
Duuuude so true
The first thing I did when I went to England in AC Valhalla was to gather the fallen hero set and that sword. It was insanely powerful.
unity has great audio mastery
This looks very interesting.
Is no one going to point out that they’re using 18/19th century swords in the 14th century
The “thirteenth generation of your blood” line is unbelievably stupid. Philip IV was not at all related to Louis XVI, as Philip was from the House of Capet, while Louis was from the House of Bourbon. The Capets lost power in the 14th Century
True mate the 100 years war destroyed that house and bourbon toke power
That's not the only thing, wondering if that person sitting next to King Phillip IV is meant to be his wife, Joan of Navarre, because she was already dead for 9 years at this point.
the Bourbon house is a branch of the Capetian dynasty. in the same way as the Valois or Angevin house. Do some research
they honestly need to go back to this time period. The crusades and jerusalem are one of the most epic time periods/places in history.
Best opening in the franchise
The fact that the "cused" lead to the French Revolution is an awesome idea
He should’ve been main character
What’s gonna happen in the series knightfall
ac1 with unity's engine would be the best game of the century
I hope we get a knights Templar assassin's Creed, it also needs to be coop!
I would want a Medieval game that looked like this bro
It’s so cool how historically accurate this part of the game was!
Imagine if we had the advisor's outfit to wear. Then we could complete the look with a claymore.
I want an Assassin's Creed where you play as a Templar and it takes place in like the Holy Roman Empire
