Been a fan of Charles and Moreno for yrs and watching them get gold was magic I can't lie
has its good and bad sides, many of the people who enshrine Charles today will disrespect him in the future when he loses the belt. So it was with Anderson and Aldo, this general public only wants to know about champions, they are just passing passions for most of the public. But this mass attraction to the big names that rise from time to time is important to the sport's growth anyway.

Very high fight IQ, whenever he's hurt he just drops to guard. Nobody wants to engage him on the ground so he can take his time to recover.
I want to see how Charles adjusts his style against a competent grappler who won't be afraid to follow him to the ground and whom he can't just nuke on the feet.

Whenever Charles got dropped and Poirier and Gaethje let him get back up, I knew he’d win the fight. They were too scared to go to the ground with him because he’d flawlessly dominate. Mahkechev vs Oliveira is going to be something else.

@@lucasferreira028Makhachev has one KO power, he knocked out Tibau. Charles doesn't. That been said, the main plan is to take Charles down, not to wait for a punch to land and he gets knocked down.
@@truthseeker96 The thing is though: Poirier, Chandler and Gaethje were massive striking threats, but Oliveira cold cocked Chandler, beat him to the punch and smashed his head in. He gassed dirty boxing master Poirier in the clinch and got the sub. He evaded all of Gaethje's leg kicks better than Khabib, wobbled him from the first punch, dropped him and then subbed him. So, he actually out performed all three killer strikers despite also having substantially better ground game.
Now we look at Islam. Islam is not even in Charles' league when it comes to striking. He's weaker, who has he knocked out? Old, post USADA Tibau? Charles KO'd Chandler stiff, was smashing Poirier and walked down Gaethje to wobble him with the first punch then drop him with one hit like Chandler and Khabib couldn't even do. So Charles is clearly far more powerful than Islam, as well as being the far better striker. So Islam is going to be a fish out of water on the feet, only delaying the inevitable knockdown or knockout, so he'll immediately have to go to his Dagestani wrestling, his one asset against Charles, but then we remember how amazing Charles' BJJ is and his subs. Islam's only hope is his wrestling, striking wise he doesn't have a prayer, given how weak he is compared to Charles and how lacking his striking is. It's basically the reverse of Charles' last 3 fights. Charles' BJJ severely outclassed Chandler, Poirier and Gaethje, but here he severely outclasses Islam's striking and power, while also having at least equal ground game.

I am a firm believer that he does this as a part of a strategy. Maybe he doesn't have good take downs and so pretending to be knocked down will make the opponent want to finish the fight like that. Which backfires significantly.

I agree with your sentiment, it’s definitely a smart game that he’s learned to play, high level mind games. However, in almost all of these clips he’s actually getting dropped with huge shots and managing to recover with his guard play. Teymur, Chandler, Poirier, Gaethje all hurt him badly, the chin will get cracked one day and he won’t be able to roll to his back because he’ll be unconscious. That said he’s my favourite fighter and the champ has a name 🤷🏼♂️
Charles has been finished 4 times on the ground. It just needs a good grappler not scared to go with him down.
