Oct. 6, 1993 - The defending champion Montreal Canadiens' pre-game ceremony at the Forum, player introductions and raising of the Stanley Cup banner (SRC Sports)
and about 8 months later we would trade captain Guy Carbonneau for a middle finger to a journalist , many thinks the downfall of the Habs started by trading Patrick Roy but I always thought it started when we traded captain Guy . it was the beginning of a big downfall for the legendary Montreal Canadiens .
That's because space was very limited up there in the rafters of the old Forum. 24 Stanley Cup banners as well as all the retired numbers. They had no choice. Other NHL arenas have plenty of room, so much so that they even put up banners when they win a division. There was no place in the hockey world comparable to the Forum. A shame they demolished it. I don't think it's a coincidence that they haven't won a Cup since moving to the new arena.
Looks weird seeing the Montreal forum running broads yellow instead of the longtime blue color. They should have been allowed to keep them blue until they closed the forum.
It’s funny I figured the NHL mandated they needed to change the color that season but I’d you see the Devils-Rangers series from 1994, you’d see that the Devils arena had blue dashers.
Et ce fut la dernière coupe à Montréal. Ça n’arrivera probablement plus jamais à cause que le hockey est rendu une sale buisness ou les joueurs n’ont plus aucune appartenance à leur équipe, seulement au cash.
Yet the pens my team have won it 5 times within the last 25 years. From the first back to back cups in 1991 and 1992 the 2009 team and the next back to back team in 2016 and 2017.
24 Stanley Cup Champions Montreal Canadiens, !! GO HABS GO !!
The last cup banner in Montreal or anywhere in the country.... 30 years and counting.
Same arena announcer, guy is a legend

The season opener. And in a suite., yet Roberge has a black eye. He was one tough dude.

No one has a problem with Roy saluting the crowd here? Badoomdoompshh
great moment!
Roberge already fought in the pre season? lol
The banner looks so tiny compared to the ones teams raise those days.

@@nicks.6341 It isn’t really “demolished”. The Forum was converted into a movie theatre, though still a lot of traces of the Habs still remain.
@@HornetHKensa I watched them gut the building. All that's left is the outer shell. everything inside was 100% demolished.
They have limited space due to so many champion banners already
Do you have the match in full?
Nice
Still waiting for the 25th cup.
Your going to wait a long time.

Very please the whole match.
Strangely subdued crowd
They knew the tsunami was coming
Championship fatigue

that team sure went downhill quick ! who woulda thought it would be 25 yrs and counting ?
The next 25 years will be worse!

@Christopher Hagee 30 after this year ! lol signed happy Bruins fan.
If it wasn't for Roy suffering from an appendicitis in the '94 Boston series, they could've repeated as champs.
@@nicks.6341 Doubt it.
