- Skills in conventional warfare are still critical and armies still need bridges to cross rivers and ravines - with the conflict in Ukraine looking more like the Second World War.
55 Training Squadron, based at Minley, Hampshire, has been teaching their brand new engineers the art of bridge building.

These are some of the best fighting men in the world.🇬🇧
Also Lego pros
😂😂😂😂😂😂
No Million pounds for a Memorial for these Brave Men .
The bravest of the brave, the most generous of the generous. Never had a country friends such as these! Thank you for your loyalty and service - if only we deserved it.
oh shut up 😅😅😅
Total respect for the Gurkhas, they always give 100%
We love and respect our brother Gurkhas!
Outstanding the Gurkhas
I love these guys. Britain is truly honoured to have these soldiers working with our army. I’m sure the Brits can learn a lot from these guys. Thank you 🙏 for your service. 🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️
Thank you for your service to all our brave Gurkhas god bless you all 👍
These guys rebuild a wooden suspension bridge over the river Arun where I used to live . Damn fine job they made .
Best soldiers on Earth . Salute 💪💪👏👏🙏🙏👍👍👩🍳👩🍳🍽🍽🍺🍺👀👀
Thank you, Gurjkas!
I miss my times building them
Fond memories of Bob Farrah ex Royal Rngineers who became training manager for the company that manufactured the bridge, Fairey engineering. He came out to New Zealand to teach us colonials how to put them together.😊
Brilliant video bunch of legends
These guys are the best in the world
Gurkha engineers. Great.
Concidering the UK has a problem with recruitement why dont we just allow more Ghurkas to fill the ranks? if the british civis dont want to join give more opportunities to the gerka regs. Im Baffled everytime how they believe it is such an honour to fight for our country yet we drastically limit the pool of formiddable men from joining. We can still maintain a hardcore Gurkha reg while also giving opportunities to those who dont quite meet those requirements. We need to remember the money the Ghurkas get drastically improves the quality of life to their families at home. I think the MOD should really look into opening the flood gates to more Napalese men.
Well said!
They are outstanding aren’t they pal, I agree
@@MaxKingsley72 One of a kind soldiers they are. We are lucky to have them.
The answer to recruitment issues isn't slave labour. Its making service attractive. Train personnel in skills transferable to civvy street and look after ex personnel with issues. Also stop fighting wars with the sole purpose of funneling tax money into the pockets of billionaires. Once service becomes attractive, recruitment won't be an issue. It won't happen in my lifetime though.
@@graememckay9972 The Ghurkas aren't slaves you muppet.
Superb. Massive respect to the Gurkhas.
Recruitment problem? More Gurkhas please
Exactly!
My Greater Nepal.🌺🇳🇵🙏☺️
We need twice as many Gurkhas as we have got.
Respect 🫡
Always inspiring seeing a Gurkha!
The Ghurkas are that should not have their immigration and British citizenship application unquestioned. They truelly earned blood sweat and tears. A leqacy of loyalty, bravery and comradery.
it sure is getting easier in the forces, my engineering days nearly crippled me two broken disc's.
They'll get there eventually
Could do with these bridges during the floods , more practice for the Army ?
These are the best fighting men in the world respect we are so lucky to have them
Slow and not being under armor sucks, but nothing can break beyond what a welder can temporarily fix at the spot. Systems that are available and work might not be as sexy as the big systems, but so much more available.
I hated bridge building when I served as a Sapper.
I take it that is at Hawley Hard?
lego MGB seen it now 🤣that place brings back memories
A credit to our nation. They should be granted automatic citizenship.
Ive always thought of gurkhas as skilled in raiding warfare tactics. Their training is tougher then most units, onlt the few best candidates are accepted if im not mistaken? Erecting bridges quickly is undoubtedly important, but surely you could deploy these talented men in a more useful role.
My grandfather was an engineer in the army so im not discrediting its importance, i just always thought of the gurkhas as closer to green berets rather then the muscle for labor.
Their initial training is the entire Combat Infantryman Course and then some language training. So if need be they could be put into a Infantry role
The fastest built brige I've ever seen
Nice😊
Jai gurkhas jai nepal
Tough bunch of men.
👏👏👏💯💯💪💪
Tier 1 operator s ...
One of the last hopes the British Army has of making any kind of impact in battle. Given the size and 'quality' of our armed forces and the dreadful neglect of its strength by MOD I don't have much confidence that we could fight our way out of a paper bag, no disrepect to the few real fighting men that we have.
litttle bigger not smaller
The army should expand The Ghurkas to two brigades, given the current recruitment crisis. As good as, if not better than, any other infantry regiment.
Always had a deep respect for these guys...but not happy that some have sided with Russia...big mistake....loyalty for a paycheck??!
Love the Gurkhas, they well deserve their reputation.
But… This is a super old obsolete MGB bridge. Only good for team building.
Sappers 🙏🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Lado dhoti ko flag hata chikni dhoti
There two three types of Gurkhas-
1.Who work for UK and have a better lifestyle.
2.Who work for India and retired over there.
3.Who work for Russia in invading Ukraine as a mercenary and rarely returned alive😢.
15k Nepalese collab with Putin led Russia invading Ukraine since feb 2022.
12 confirmed dead (by Nepalese Govt)
3000 is still missing 😥
Still thousands are duped by the recruiters (easy money tricks)
russians are saying they have gurkhas fighting for them........yea the ones who couldnt pass basic nepal training
👍👍👍gave me the relevant acknowledges 🎉
rigid cpl commando magar.

Build back better
looks like surplus donations from the UK
Pion for the front war.. 😅😅😅
Food and drink may not be consumed near computer equipment.

THis kind of work better suited to trashies, Gurkhas are for offensive infantry.
