Who should be the MCU's next Big Bad?
The Beyonder
Danny Devito
Galactus
Kevin Durant
Dr Doom
Seeing yourself being decapitated and the Avengers trying to undo your life's work might make you change up your approach
THIS! So simple. To the point. 👏👏
Ikr. So many people want to complain and say that its lazy wtiting even though there was a reason for his change in behavior.
such an underrated response.
also if he want to be god, i don't see the reason why he destroy the stones soon after the deed is done...

"What happened to Thanos armour after the Avengers left? We have the latest from the Russo bros" - 20 min video, last minute is someone asking the Russo bros and them saying - I guess it's still there?
"Affect", not effect.
I'd have to disagree with the video. The video assumes that the violent Thanos of Endgame is the "original" state, and that he became more benevolent. In fact, the opposite is true.
Thanos, doesn't want to kill half the universe, but believes he has too. His actions are for the greater good and will ensure the survival of the universe. Thanos, sacrifices everything. He murders billions, loses his most loyal followers, his beloved daughter, and even his life. Now, the 2014 Thanos sees, through Nebula, that it was all in vain.
He sees that after giving everything, the remaining life undoes the snap which, not only invalidates his life's work, it effectively dooms them to the very calamity his sacrifice intended to avoid.
Imagine the anger, the rage at seeing that. The 2014 Thanos even spells it out in his monologue. He isn't trying to save anyone anymore, he is going to erase all life and start over. This is a Thanos who actively hates the current life forms for their ingratitude. No longer is he the Thanos who said "When I'm finished, half the universe will still exist". He is now, full bore "I will erase you all".
an underrated comment
Nope he just got hit up by death in endgame n told him he could fuck if he kills everyone. Lucky iron Man killed him before dead pool came in swooped up on death. Thanos is a bitch
@Berserker nope. Just read more comics then your fake ass mcu fan can't grasp on to words.
Alan Lueke excellent explanation couldn’t have said it better myself
But, his whole behavior is different in IW than in GotG and Endgame. He clearly changed, and i agree that the rejection and treason of Gamora made him rethink his approach. Even in Endgame "old" Thanos show more appreciation for the Nebula who had betrayed him than "young" Thanos for the Nebula who is loyal to him.
I saw it a bit differently and a bit more simply.
In 2014 he was still on this seemingly endless quest. Tired, angry and on the frontlines of battle for who knows how many years. Hundreds maybe.
In Infinity War, he was almost there. He had the peace and calm of knowing he's almost done. All the hard work is behind him, and he just has to take the last few steps. He sheds his armor because the war is over. Warrior Thanos is dead. A new priest like and honorable Thanos is driving now.
But in 2014... he was deep in warrior Thanos territory, hardening himself for what he has to do. Staying angry, staying motivated. Pushing himself to not give up or get soft.
Makes a lot of sense. Like Odin after he won against frost giants
You sir, have my like
The Endgame Thanos isn't only 5 years younger but he wasn't betrayed yet by his loved daughter Gamora.
time is relative in space, so he in fact could be a lot younger despite only 5 years gap on Earth.
@@konstantinstepanov5461 its longer than 5 years. Endgame, atleast the the part of endgame where Thanos travels to the future, is in 2023. The "snap" occurred in 2018, and the version of Thanos that traveled to 2023 is from atleast before 2014 (when Guardians of the Galaxy 1 takes place)
@@Phurzt yes but again, you are equating to Earth time... or Earth years.. so for 5 or so years it has been on earth, it could have been much more somewhere else in the Galaxy (thats just science). @@konstantinstepanov5461 oh no. I'm not disagreeing with you there. I agree. Think of my comment as additive to your's. I simply wanted to correct the "5 years" part of your comment. The rest of your comment is correct, or atleast, a good point that my comment isn't trying to correct.
@@konstantinstepanov5461 but the time passing for someone is only much different while they are nearly travelling at the speed of light or nearby big gravitation (e.g. almost inside a black hole), so it have been 9 years for thanos, it were maybe another amount of years on another planet, but this would just be another unit of measuring, the absolute amount of time that passed would still be the same
marvel still could come up with another explanation such as time passing different in other places (like in thor ragnarok) but just from the science part, he is 9 years old
Am I the only one who will miss Thanos? I mean, all the build up was amazing, then they delivered, and that was even more amazing...
Yeah, it will be hard to top that. I think they could do it, but it would've been awesome to see Thanos do a Loki.
Would love cap marvel vs silver surfer movie. Galactus was in another galaxy and was drawn by the snaps ......................
It'd be kinda funny if we see Galactus Snap Thanos's neck in the following MCU movies

I believe Thanos changed because he ACTUALLY got beat during the first Avengers movie. Nothing happened to HIM, but his forces were wiped out AND the "unruly wretches" managed to use something as weak as a modified A-bomb (compared to laser guns and proton canons that could rip a civilization to shreds) to close the portal.
Superior firepower vs. guile and guile won. To a mad titan, that's a MAJOR blow to the ego of a nihilist! So after knowing that he's been defeated, THREE TIMES if you also count the decapitation. That's just more fuel for the fire.
I'd be PISSED!!!
So, if this tiny planet called Earth has people who will stand up and fight, other planets could have the same thing. Only way to ACTUALLY win is to destroy ALL life. Screw being worshipped at this point, Thanos wants any and all opposition gone. That way, he TRULY wins his war.
That's definitely another great interpretation. I liked thinking Thanos wasn't just manipulating others like the video claims, that it was genuine.
did you see how easily the avengers killed thanos army? (killing one of those weak ass guys) clearly a nuke is going to most of them🤦♂️💀💀
Thanos was a younger man, more aggressive. Stronger too.
You fight like a younger man..
He lived for thousands of years that doesn't make sense
That doesn't take away from the impact those 5 years have on him.

I think Endgame’s treatment of Thanos brought down the movie a lot in my eyes. He was my favorite character in IW because he was such a complex villain, but then they reverted him back to a generic “destroy the universe” type of villain. I feel like stripping away Gamora’s death made him much less interesting and one-note in Endgame. Ideally, they would have somehow brought the Thanos from mid-IW back to Endgame to keep that nuance
Next video: The Real Reason “Why Steve Rogers Shaved His Beard?”
Perhaps he was trying to keep his handsome figure on a good view.
The fundamental flaw in thanos's new motivation: he could have just used the infinity gauntlet to double the number of resources, and achieved the same result with no bloodshed.
Or just infinite resources because if you doubled it sooner or later we'd reach the same point
@@meggubravo8373 That also goes for the half-genocide. We would be back at the same population level sooner or later.
@@meggubravo8373 yeah but then the population will eventually rise and fill up the planet which has its own problems
I always wondered, when he did his Snap, did Thanos remember that - when he wished for half of all life to vanish - he didn't mean all food stuffs too, thus simply creating exactly the same resource imbalance that had existed before?
@@MinesAGuinness Also, did he remember to exclude all the planets on which he already killed half before?
i would not mind watching another separate movie showing Thanos' origin.
this adds so much meaning to loki's last words
People think that in the scene where Loki died in infinity war, you can see a person walking in the back ground. That that person is 2012 Loki and is watching himself die
Pics or it didn't happen.
@@andrewgrant6516 if you watch the scene in the movie, look in the background (back left I think?) and you’ll see a person walking and it looks like he’s holding something (I can’t remember what but the person either had Loki’s helmet on or was holding it)
Yea, maybe we’ll see this point of view on his show, Loki.
@@chadcognac5626 I hope we see anything about it tbh. If not, then we will seriously be wondering what was going on and who that person was since that’s like cgi and why would they put someone in there, you know?
BEST character breakdown I’ve seen in a long while. Good job guys!
Oh, that's brilliant! Great synopsis!
Ironic, that out of all the Avengers, Iron Man was arguably Thanos' opposite, and to further illustrate that, Tony Stark hates being handed things, but Thanos wanted to be handed all of the Infinity Stones.
My thought is that it had something to do with not only watching him get his own head lopped off, but also because he saw that this handful of people from Earth were going to undo the whole thing he had dedicated his life to achieving and actually achieved.
I enjoyed Infinity War more than I enjoyed Endgame. Both are great movies though. Just liked Infinity War better.
Me too. 2 things I realized about that
1. Thanos representation is better in infinity war.
2. I think having less characters in infinity war was a good thing. For ex. Dr strange was giving Thanos a good competent fight. And what he was doing in Endgame?! Making tsunami I guess.
End game was better because the chick team up was amazing and obviously captain marvel. She's amazing!
That's fair. I like both but for different reasons
Richard Harper yeah! It’s so amazing because it shows a bunch of people on a screen!

Cant believe ive just found this channel
Love it
2014 Thanos hadn’t experienced any significant loss in his quest for the stones. Future Thanos started taking losses that meant something to him when he lost the Black Order, his most loyal companions but most importantly Gamora. The closer Thanos got to his goal, the more he could sympathize with his opponents for what he was about to take away and why they fight so hard to protect them. Nebula was the only person left Thanos had feelings for in Endgame, that’s why he apologized for how he treated her right before he died.
a guy who lived like hundreds of years changes complitely in just 4 years
Yeah he only lost his adopted daughter he loved enough to be given the soul stone for. Not a big deal or anything
Lot of shit can happen in four years lol
He got more humble per stone...guess the power one sucked up lots of his evil
I mean it only takes one bad day to go insane
One day alone can completely change someone.
Great video
It’s almost like 5 years of character development changes the character
I just wanted to see a "Thanos Farm" CZcams channel where Thanos gives growing tips and charts the progress of, and plans for, his homestead.
I thought the endgame thanos who was from the past saw the future through nebula, and became disillusioned and reverted back to his brutal ways, this seems to fit in line with that.
I think the challenge also brought about a more personal approach for Thanos. The Avengers showed their strength and defiance. Time and again they resisted. We see and are told about The Children of Thanos and his army decimating world after world, but Earth gives him pause. I also believe the Soul Stone and the knowledge it grants temper him more in the second half
It’s Simple he saw himself get killed and saw that the avengers are trying to undo his work. Do you think IW Thanos would of hold back if he knew that was going to be his future.
I don't think he would of said screw the whole universe over something 8 people were doing.
King Orange Of course he possibly wouldn’t but that’s not a guaranteed fact. 2014 Thanos was more callous and brutal with his methods, while the 2018 version was trying to be better and let the stone decide who lives. After 4 years, something sparked and he started to go more on spiritual crusade. So in return, he at least attempted to gain some gratitude by others by doing something Nobel and not being a brutal warlord who kills without mercy.
@@kingorange7739 they undid his plan.
Trenton Smith but again the question remains then, what would cause him to change within the 4 years? Also u realize even the Gamora flashback scene has a Thanos more consistent than his 2014 self
mystery person195 and? That doesn’t defend ur argument
We should remember Thanos didn't kill Tony because Strange gave up the time stone.
Thanos was going to kill Tony on a pretty crazy scale as he had all the stones powered toward him before Strange intervened. He was going to vaporize him tbh
THANK YOU!
So many people attribute the Soul Stone to Thanos becoming "more compassionate" or something, conveniently overlooking the part where _Thanos had four Infinity Stones levelled at Tony with the intent to use them._
If it wasn't for Strange there wouldn't be enough left to feed a dog!
Thanos is like an emotionally manipulative partner, all diplomatic and level headed in infinity war when he's winning but blows up when things aren't going his way. It's not really that much of a 180 between the 2 films
Why the 2014s thanos in Avengers endgame wasn't wearing the same armour that he originally wore in the 2014s Guardians Of The Galaxy
Presumably because the CGI they used for Endgame was of much higher quality than his cameo in GOTG
2:02 made me give a like lol
Jonathan Pageau made an excellent video on IW and EG. They note that EG reveals the inherent selfishness of Thanos. Worth checking out
epic content my friend
That's a good take on it. Summarized, your view... Thanos first is ruthless and callous, having underlings do his work... he enjoys their worship, reverence, and homage. He still has Gamora.
Then BAM... the only person he cares about goes awol… Gamora. Suddenly, the groveling of his bad guys seems empty. He secretly respects the Avengers, and the Guardians, because they remind him of Gamora... they have principles. They're strong fighters. He also respects strength, above all else... like when he told Peter Quill that "he liked him," after Peter tried to execute the woman that he fell in love with... Gamora. That was strength, that Peter exhibited.
The humans also proved themselves as strong warriors. The Katari (sp?) proved themselves as weak. So Thanos explains himself to the Avengers, in different ways. He hopes to win them over, as a substitute for winning Gamora over (Gamora is now dead and gone). He thinks that they may understand, because they're not groveling servants like his minions are. They are "principled and strong" as he believes himself to be.
Then we come to past Thanos, the one who enjoyed his groveling minions, and having Gamora at his side. When the time traveling Nebula shows him the future, he is shocked by everything at once... Gamora is keeping secrets from him, hoping to one day desert him... something he was suspecting all along... and the universe is ungrateful, regarding his "snap." So the ingratitude of Gamora, is reinforced by the ingratitude of the Avengers. They are SO ungrateful, Thor beheads him as an act of vengeance. They wouldn't let Thanos enjoy retirement, in his garden.
Thanos must puzzle... he was will to sacrifice the only person he loved, for the "snap." Why weren't they willing to sacrifice their loved ones, for the "greater good?" Why didn't these principled warriors understand that he erased the plague of overpopulation? This past Thanos must get royally pissed. Everyone is an ingrate. No one is worth his respect after all.
So what is the solution? To erase the whole population as they are, and recreate them as a worthy multitude. Recreate them, with no memory of the ones they lost. The Avengers must be punished for their rejection of him, so they will be erased as well.
This act of complete erasure, and complete creation, makes him "God" of this new Universe. He will not be a "savior God," he will be a "creator God." Where the subjects can reject him as a Savior, they will not reject him as a Creator.
So ultimately, Thanos isn't just some altruistic environmentalist, only concerned with the greater good. Ultimately, he's an egomaniac, who does crave love and gratitude, from those he deems as worthy subjects. A God complex. Just not the "nihilistic" Thanos of the comic book.
there is a could be alternate story of thanos not having gamora when he finds the secret location of the soul stone then uses the reality stone to weave into existence the mcu verse where she existed with all of the feelings and true emotions of having fathered her.
There isn’t enough to showcase his rage that people didn’t like his plan. He also already knew that people wouldn’t like it from his own planet and also from his conquest.
I would love to see the different Thanos (avengers, GOTG, that other one and IW) have their way with the gauntlet, the one from GOTG and avengers one seems closest to the comic and I would love to see him have the gauntlet and fight the avengers
About Gamora: if she is the favorite daughter then why does he always lose it when interacting with Nebula? Seriously. Look at the level of emotion when he fights her. The "peaceful Thanos" explodes during their fight in Infiniti War.
He only talks to her during the battle. Everyone else in that battle he could care less about. But Nebula her defying him hurts him
He was holding back a lot in the first movie and didn’t even kill the avengers, in endgame he saw that he got decapitated and they showed no remorse so he probably got pissed off
This was a great video. You nailed Thanos on the head. Year he makes a good argument like all great villains, but at the end of the day he's just a egotistic mass murdering asshole.
Basically it two different Thano in different parts of his quest. One is has been working hard and is nearing finishing his work. The other seemingly is just getting started. Kind of the the freshman Thanos vs “two weeks from graduation” Thanos.
How is this video 10 months old with a typo in the title?
"Well for 1 Endgame Thanos is from 2014 and is still battle driven more extreme.Doing anything to accomplish his goal of the stones.
Infinity war Thanos was seeing first hand the sacrifices made to make is goal whole.." just my thought! 👌🤔
The difference portrayed is not "two different characters" exploring a difference in philosophy due to where Thanos is in different stages of his life. Thanos in Infinity War exhibits a vulnerable / covert narcissist trying to get what he wants. Thanos in Endgame exhibits a vulnerable / covert narcissist after realizing he can't have what he wants.
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Are some of these clips deleted sceens?
I love you Ryan o_o
Damn I just figured he mellowed with age.
I mean I've always thought that he became ruthless cause when he saw the future (through nebula), he saw that he won, achieved his life's dream only to end up being killed, and with the same people trying to undo his life's work which spells "ungrateful". Basically he started thinking that as long as there's people alive from the old Universe, these "ungrateful" people will keep trying to undo his life's work so might as well destroy the old one and create a new one.
I'd also add the aspect that he probably wanted everyone to have a fair chance once he performed the snap
Funny how NOBOBY talks about that timeline and what happened to it. Ya know, the one 2014 Thanos Came from. Things were done differently in that timeline so did the TVA come in once Thanos left to the Endgame Timeline forgoing the Snap entirely.
Basically a whole complete replica Universe up until 2014.
This wasn't a Timeline on Caps adventure to return the Infinity Stones. (Even still I dont see how returning them still doesn't stop that timeline from existing along side the MCU unless the TVA played a part.)
Regardless it seem like those TL's would be past the redline anyways.
As great as the Avengers final 2 films were I think the Time Travel thing has seriously messed up their story. Personally if they had to do it I woulda gone with a more traditional look on Time Travel. I think it woulda fit better.

thanos in infinity war is older than the one at endgames which he change his mind at endgames when he seeing his army dead

There's a typo in the title of this video-
thanos wanted that balance since or before he met gamora based off the flashback, so ig he just gave up at some point and changed his mind again
@6:47 thats a high school in my county XD
Also you think in 2018 he is basically having everything going to plan. In 2014 all the stones are right there and he has the chance to get them so he isn’t taking a chance with a plan and he doesn’t expect iron man to use the stones
I wish they used 2014 armor in endgame... That would've made more sense and would've saved the storyline in MCU timeline.

I say that he mainly is in it to balance the universum, not because he wants to be a god.
Having your home world wrecked and being the only one left is traumatizing, but being proven right strokes the ego hardcore.
what did happen though in those years was like said, his daughters saying fuck you to him and leaving him.
that must have hurt a lot, especially from Gamora.
Besides that, he did also not have to kill Loki per se, but he did.
He avoided how ever killing anyone at Nowhere, probably because he respected Quill, and he was just reunited with his daughter, who he realized, had a soft spot for the people there.
After that, Thanos only fought, knowing finally fully well what it was to lose a loved one and he did respect his opponents now more then he ever did.
If Gamora had never been sacrificed or seen between the time Thanos get's the reality stone and the Mind stone, i doubt any of the avengers would have been alive.
If I beat someone in a game and they traveled back in time to change that I would be pissed too.
That shade at the end lol
Movie theorists are cool man loool
The synopsis of Endgame stated that the Avengers were facing another threat, which sounds like 2014 Thanos attempting to wipe out all of Earth's population instead of half.
Jordan Schlansky what the hell are you doing here Jordan...don’t you have to be working as an executive producer on COCO..wait till Conan finds out..
Him also seeing himself be killed after the snap showed him that a universe that remembers would never be appreciative. Bringing the Thanos that was missing the next five years of experiences to say f it.
Actually, you have the question backwards. Why did Thanos change from End Game to Infinity War? since Thanos was older in Infinity War. I suppose you could say he changed from Guardians of the Galaxy to End Game since the version of Thanos in End Game comes from the time period at the beginning of Guardians.

Thanos is a sadist with a 'God Complex', and only a sadist would consider murdering half of all life in the Universe as a blessing...as "balance". The Universe wasn't "grateful" but in utter chaos, mourning and fear. If you replay GoTG #1 and freeze frame Gamora on the Zandar line up it states that she is the last survivor of her race so Thanos lied to her about her home world.
Susan Dolan that was a recon, not a lie. Nebula even states that he doesn’t lie.
@@kingorange7739 In IW Thanos tells Gamora that the people of her world have clean air and its children go to bed with full stomachs. Now this could only mean that Thanos intended for her to believe his butchering of half of her people did what he intended it to do. If he'd checked up on his "Good work" as he implied he would have seen the extinction, not the salvation, of her people. So whether he did or didn't check back on Gamora's home planet he still lied to her. Her people had been wiped out because of his actions not prospering as he told her. Plain and simple, he lied.
Susan Dolan according to Xander. Again first off early MCU statements can be easily reckoned. Secondly there would be no reason for the extinction to occur. Also u can’t lie about something u don’t know. Thanos would of had to see the planet was doing well. And it wouldn’t go from thriving to dead based on his actions. If they are dead, something else would of had to caused it.
@@kingorange7739 I agree, something else did happen. Chaos is what happened. Thanos destroyed the order of the Cosmos, plunging it into lawlessness and more bloodshed as the inevitable hardship of starvation (since he snapped out half of all life... including plants and animals) caused the inhabitants to fight for everything edible to the end. So whether by omission or not, it was still a lie. It's amazing how anyone can filter a lie to make it a truth. Try reading Orwell's 1984. Winston Smith was a news paper Editor at the Ministry of 'Truth'. You'll see what I mean.
Susan Dolan I did read parts of it and I watched a review of the book.
The soul gem bro, the soul gem.
Well to start he did not have to sacrifice gamora, that affected him quite bit also.
2014 Thanos didn't have to travel to Vormir.
Great video! I’d like to state that infinity war was made in 2018 not 2014.
I thought this was gonna be about why he wasn't purple anymore.
The way I see it is that seeing the result of his work not end the way he hoped, the universe rejecting him and trying to undo what he did, struck a nerve. He revealed his true colors. He is a prideful sore loser, who would rather erase the truth from everyone's memory than ever admit that his quest was wrong. He was so delusioned that the universe would thank him for his "mercy", that being confronted with the opposite pretty much broke his ego. So he wanted to force the universe into being thankful by making sure it wouldn't remember what it lost. That's why Thanos wasn't really that different to me in Endgame than he was in Infinity War. It's just the difference between a villain winning and having a villainous breakdown.
He wasn’t bad he was just broken😭
Great theory and its not wrong its true that he wanted recognition. But I believe this 2014 thanos is less mature and had not expirienced failure, which Yoda claimed to be the greatest teacher. He also attacked while the avengers were split. He might have been able to beat them regardless but was careful none the less
I think there is one more thanos.....
Endgame Thanos is from the past and is pissed that he gets killed and the Avengers are trying to undo his snap.
Nice
Sick
With Ithe acquisition of the Infinity Stones thanos gained wisdom and compassion and other things that leaks out of the stones when he was in the movie and game he had not received any of the stones yet therefore they could not influenced his personality also he had not kill Gamora yet. Remember we are talking about and the ingame they fight a fanos from the past which is kind of funny cuz then if he's killed in the past wouldn't mess up the whole timeline in the first place they kind of screwed up the time Stone Legend and all that
Thanos trying to be a god was like Sonic trying to go super in the first game:
You ain’t finding all 7 rocks anytime soon.
I think he needed to be fed by mommmy up until infinity war that's why he was so hangry.
I always thought it was because he watched more Nebula memories than they showed on the movie. He HATED the Avengers for doing all this to undo what he thought was a courageous act. So in kind he didn't hold back at all, he even said "cursed Avengers". Although he probably knows who they are from Loki's failed attempt at taking over the Earth. But you can tell he isn't trying to really kill anyone in Infinity War except Stark after they ALMOST beat him. But he calmed down after he got the time stone and went to Wakanda where he didn't try to killing anyone (although a straight punch to the face to Cap should have done that).
Mathusto should be next big bady
