Avengers: Endgame started out with a massive bang. Within the first 20 minutes of the movie, we saw Thor finally go for the head, as he killed the Mad Titan Thanos.
This was an extremely shocking moment, but was it really necessary?
Did Thanos really have to die so early in the movie?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe built toward Thanos for many years. He was set up as the biggest bad guy ever. And he came in like a wrecking ball in Infinity War.
In just one movie, Thanos went from a guy who just smiled and sat in his floating throne for years, to one of the best villains in the MCU, as well as one of the best villains in film’s history.
But then died in the first 20 minutes of Endgame.
But just imagine what would have happened if Thanos didn’t die so early. How would Avengers: Endgame change if Thanos was taken prisoner instead of losing his head?
Well CBR is going to give you a What If movie, a version of Avengers: Endgame where Thanos didn’t die.
Let’s talk about why Thanos shouldn’t have been killed so early and how his presence would have made the whole movie so much better.
And also, let’s talk about Thanos’ new plan to use the Infinity Stones to wipe out the whole universe. There is a good chance that this plan would have made much more sense with the Thanos we all know and love.
So let’s begin this What If.

That was the Endgame Thanos's motivation, he saw his future self succeed only for the survivors to try to undo what he did instead of being grateful. Which causes to 2014 Thanos to decide to go farther.

      Think about it
If past thanos didnt go to future
No one will die in endgame
Because infinity war thanos was the thanos after being dusted
      So when
Thanos didnt die and go to prison the anger will grow on him
To be strong enough to break his cell and escape
But when he eacape he will call his army
      But that time
Hulk bring back the dusted people
      How?
      While thanos was in cell
Avengers go back to time but before thanos after dusted and get the stones
So thanos cant find the stones
But in the soul stone someone needs to die but we need a smart choice
While they are going back thor ask if they will go to asgard and get his mjolnir back, thor will get it easily and fast
Then avengers will assemble the stones with the iron gauntlet
      But hulk will snap again
But hulk needs to wear nanosuit for him
Hulk is strong enough to live after the snap but he is not strong enough to snap so hulk dont just need a nano gauntlet but nano suit because
The nano gauntlet is not strong if you compared them to thanos' gauntlet thanos' is stronger
      So why nanosuit
Because if you compare whole nanosuit to thanos' gauntlet
      Its equal
Like in endgame tony manage to snap because he wears the suit
But he is not strong enough to beat the impact of the snap to tony
So hulk can get everyone back
      Back to thanos
The angry thanos will make sign to
      Attack avengers
But this time cap says avengers tony says assemble for a fair leadership so no fight
But captain accidentaly lifts thor's hammer and he wasnt ready but he knows how to throw lightning
So he throw it to thanos then angry wanda face angry thanos but this time thanos will not be easy to beat
So wanda will be thrown but captain marvel will be strong enough to beat thanos so she fight thanos so thats where thanos tells one of his army to fire the avengers
Everyone was damaged but still alive though except thor will be mad throw his hammer to the entire army
Like what he did on the first 10 minutes on thor ragnarok with surtur's army
Then he will use the stormbreaker again to fight thanos but angry thanos almost kills him by punching him on the face for a reason of his eye to be popped (the eye rocket gives him on infinity war) that makes thor very angry for reason on calling all lightning to be on thor stormbreaker and hits thanos 3 times and finally thor cuts him to the head
      THE END

“What if Thanos wasn’t killed at the start”
⬆️ Nothing. That's the answer. The film that you want to see is literally a nothing story.
You may like Infinity War but you sure don't understand it. From the film....
Thanos: With all six stones, I could simply snap my fingers, and they would all cease to exist. I call that... mercy.
Stephen Strange: [Stands] And then what?
    Thanos: *I finally rest.*
After Thanos snaps - his destiny is full filled. As he told Thor to fulfill it - "You should have gone for the head" - and in Endgame when he sees Thor go for the head he says: "And that is destiny fulfilled."
Pepper to Tony: "Would you be able to rest" and of course to dying Tony: "You can rest now."
Rest = death. Here's the point: After Thanos snaps and restores the balance between life and death - his reason for being is over. On *every level.* In terms of his character motivation, and in terms of his *function in the story.*
All you want is to turn a story with a powerful ending - into a 'run on sentence' which then both destroys the meaning of Thanos story, and prevents Avengers from completing their story.
Infinity War and Endgame work because they complement each other by telling two very different stories. You are basically seeking a re-run with a standard revenge theme.

My cousin actually come up with a fanfic of this scenario.
It ends with Thanos challenging the Avengers to a deathmatch. If they win, they claim the Stones and restore the universe. If he wins, he destroys the universe, including himself; having grown disillusioned from his power and victory.
But my cousin himself didn't like the fanfic because it has more plot holes than the actual MCU as a whole.

    • @Sleeper800
      @Sleeper800 Před 4 lety +8

Also the fact that it completely goes against Thanos' whole motivation from Infinity War, which is to kill half the universe to save the other half. He would never challenge the Avengers to achieve something that he didn't even want to achieve.
Edit: Plus if he wanted to destroy the whole universe he definitely could've just done so with all the stones instead of wasting time challenging the Avengers.

    • @ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom
      @ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom Před 4 lety +2

@@Sleeper800 Thanos' goal was to see himself as a hero, not to actually save the universe. I mean, the population surely would come its original figures if given time so his plan was always pointless; the only point of him being seen as a savior in his own image.
Also, at the end of the fanfic he didn't actually own all the Stones. The Avengers had some of them. I forgot to mention that he had dispersed them throughout the galaxy so much of the fanfic is about the Avengers collecting them. They just came back to Thanos when they realized he had 2 or 3 Stones with him. This part is peppered with plot holes, even my cousin admits.
Thanos wagering the Stones in a fight is like him giving the universe's fate to destiny or something like that.

I do agree, they should have kept the 2018 Thanos till the end of Endgame. You could have written the story to have it be that Thanos fakes his death with the stones, then over the five year time skip have Thanos become some sort of traveler. Going through planet to planet trying to rediscover his purpose, while also going absolutely insane with visions of Gamora and things like that. While still having the Avengers go through time to try and collect all the stones, and revive the half of the universe that was dusted. Plus it would make the final fight at the end all the more impactful If it was the Thanos that actually snapped and went through with his plan, instead of a version of him during a different point in time.

A very interesting twist would of been to have 2018 Thanos captured in the prison where He talks with Iron Man and Captain America. 2014 Thanos still time travels to fight the Avengers but Gamora sees Thanos inside His prison cell and after all 2018 Thanos witnessed to the aftermath and the talks He had with the Avengers, seeing Gamora makes Him realise He could do more good by not killing but simply protecting and giving.
In the final battle 2018 Thanos is let free by Gamora, and begs Gamora for forgivness. In the battle 2014 Thanos fights the Avengers when out of the rubble 2018 Thanos jumps out punching His younger self. Both Thanos's have a brief exchange of words but 2014 Thanos in His war mongor mode attempts to kill His older 2018 self. They have some fist bashes and kicks in the rubble as the Avengers try to get the new Gaunlet as far away as possible.
Gamora tries to help 2018 Thanos fight 2014 Thanos. The younger Thanos gets very mad and tries to kill Gamora. But Captain America and Iron Man jump in pulling Gamora out of the way just as 2014 Thanos's blade comes over Gamora. 2018 Thanos punches Him some more but 2014 Thanos yells and smashes Iron Man, Captain America and 2018 Thanos into the dirt below. 2014 Thanos turns back towards Gamora saying "stupid daughter, you could never turn me away from this destinay". Just as 2014 Thanos lundges His blade into Gamora, 2018 Thanos leaps over Her protecting Her as 2014 Thanos fataly hits 2018 Thanos with His blade. Very quickly Ant Man in giant form and Hulk both jump in to distract 2014 Thanos from 2018 Thanos and Gamora as they both say their last words to each other.
I think this would have made an epic scene in the battle plus as you said in the video it would have given such an amazing emotional moment with Thanos, Gamora and the Avengers.

THANOS IS A REALLY SMART GUY
So when thanos realised that he would possess all the infinity stones in a few years, what he would have done is that he would wait for that moment and when the moment comes he would probably snap in a way so that the people who were still alive would forget the dusted people ever existed. Including their photos rooms etc

If Thanos walked away untouched from infinity war, in game could have been amazing:
How: If hulk would have gave Thanos a 1v1 at the end of infinity war, he could have captured hulk and enslaved him, fast forward to endgame, the avengers are looking for hulk, early in the movie they find hulk and realized that during his time with Thanos he’s learned to control his rage and combat (smart hulk). They come up with the time heist, thanos finds out after he reduced the stones to atoms and tries to stop them. This leads to Thanos trying to interfere with their time heist including some of the deleted scenes such as showing up on Vormir with Hawkeye and Black Widow, and Bringing back Caps head during the final battle.

I thought killing him in EndGame so early was lazy writing. The 2014 Thanos didn’t have the same journey as the Thanos from Infinity War so he just seemed like a new character. We didn’t base a narrative on the 2014 Thanos except the battle of New York. Yeah infinity War Thanos accomplished his goal but that doesn't mean his story arc is finished. I honestly was disappointed in End Game. But maybe my expectations was too high. And P.S time traveling rarely ever works well in movies.

I just want to say i would have loved a thanos vs thanos fight. A younger niave thanos who thinks he's above it all vs a more mature thanos who after succeeding, then realized the flaws in his plan and saw that balance isn't always the best option especially after hearing that his younger self rather than seeking balance had decided to destroy everything and recreate it all from scratch. Older thanos didn't see himself as a god like figure, only as a single step in the universe's progression. I could see older but weaker thanos dying to his younger self and that giving the avengers enough time to snap young thanos away.

But if thanos would escape the prison while the avengers were collecting the stones it would be only for five seconds. Because quantum the works differently. It would take more time while they were collecting the stones. But when they would return to their original timeline it would only be 5 seconds in the original timeline. As you know natasha said before they went to collect the stones” see yall in a minute “
Edit:even if he escaped and the avengers bought the stones he would in no condition to snap because while destroying the stones it almost killed him and therefore he would be in no condition

I actually liked that they fought past Thanos. For me it added to the god complex we see with him in the movie. Yes he didn't know what he did to them but the avengers still showed their animosity towards him for what he did to them. The fact that he had no idea and fought with logic more than emotions just further sets him apart from the Avengers making him more entertaining to watch.

I used to love MCU, especially after seeing Infinity War. Thanos' motivation and character arc were top notch. There was also this new Thor, badass, allmighty and determined. And in Endgame what did they do? Kill off [the] Thanos in the beginning and turn Thor into an empty shell of a man, fat depressed and unfunny beer-addict, so that he could become a comic relief. This was a pretty damn heavy hit to take (for me). And after this movie, no, after the scene Thor decapitated Thanos and after I saw who Thor had become I lost my passion for MCU... it simply burned out :/

While this is a fun thought experiment, our Thanos HAD to die. He finished his mission and infinity war was HIS movie. Endgame was the avengers comeback, but the reason they killed 2018 thanos off was because it was to drive home that the damage was done. Families were torn apart by the snap, gamora is dead, and the universe feels it. If everything was just reversed it drives home the message that there are no consequences in this cinematic universe.
