I love that you can see the fear and panic in the mercenaries eyes as logan gets closer as they are completely powerless and paralyzed
Why?
@@HighSpeedNoDrag He knows Logan will kill them
@@RB01.10 no he meant why does he love it. It's a horrendous thing to love
@@AlacrityJones Why?
It’s only a film
@@AlacrityJones I think what he meant was that he loves that detail, the way the movie its filmed, acted, edited and produced, the way it shows the fear of the people, not just a bunch of men dying expresionless.
Charles saying "I'm sorry" is heartbreaking. If you've ever cared for someone with dementia or something like it, you've seen the same thing. The shame that they can no longer control their own mind. This movie is so brutal, and not just because of the gore.
*The song playing in the casino is singing "it's all right" but, it's not all right, because Charles is using his power(s) to kill people which is why he's said "I'm sorry".*
*Regardless to the fact Logan is a wild savage beast he's smart enough to go inside the room to evaluate the situation to find out what's going on to determine if he should kill the killers.*
Never had to care for someone but I'll say those people who do are heroes to me.
It's too much for me even in movies and TV, the idea of what dementia suffering people must go through breaks me to the point of mass tears, knowing people have a loved one go through such torment is horrible enough.
I wish he would’ve gotten nominated. Since the movie got a screenplay nom I’d say he probably wasn’t that far off. I think Harrelson just sorta jumped ahead of him in the race once 3 billboards started over performing everywhere. Had woody not been there I think Stewart would’ve gotten nominated. He needed some more recognition in major precursors considering what genre of movie this technically was. But was still super happy it still got nominated in a major category.
When u didn't hit the megamilions
Absolutely loved the sound design in this scene. In theatre's you could really feel the sound more and more as he got closer to Charles. Such a cool use of sound to draw you into the scene.
it's incredible. it's a good film but this scene is technically on another level. people creating films don't take nearly enough chances in creating a sensory experience bc it's so difficult to do effectively
@@Pronoc1 I totally agree
Agreed, it was outstanding to experience with cinema-level sound system. Goosebumps were real.
You basically stop breathing once Logan gets near the room, and start gasping for air when everyone else does. Incredible.

This movie showed us just how much power Charles keeps in check and under control in his prime. We never got to see how destructive Charles mutant powers could be if not properly controlled up until this movie
its canon with cerebro he could kill all sentient life on earth.
Yes we did and it was only the second movie. He was killing all mutants and humans with cerebro
@@choonblazehe was being mind controlled to do so tho. We never see Charles really let loose like magneto or others he always kept his power in check
It really shows how the humans are right to fear the mutants
In comic book, Doom can resist Prof X power by his willpower.
I find it so sad that while they are leaving, Charles is saying sorry, he doesn't deserve the pain
He had to understand its not his fault. He can't control his condition at all😢
Well, he did deserve cuz of His faith with humans. Magneto was Right

@@michelesantana1816vile
@@michelesantana1816no, cyclops was right, magneto was also wrong. Magneto constantly did horrible things lol
You can almost understand the fear people have for mutants in this scene. Charles could've wiped out entire cities with a thought. Imagine that power in a single person.
And god forbid that person isn’t as rational and altruistic as Xavier is. One bad day, and a city goes boom.

I wish I had that power.
@@geraldyeager7652 Isn't that storyline the basis for X2?
I cannot imagine the pain that Logan had to endure in order to save everyone in this scene especially Charles and Laura. Having to continuously resist both mental and physical pain is excruciating enough with his adamantium poisoning and the evident pain of popping out his claws every single time.
I think that's why he was using the walls to kinda like numb the pain like when you stubb your hand yoi squeeze real hard before you ready to bare the pain
To a bunch of monsters and goverment agents who think getting rid of mutants was the best solution.
Plus I think his healing factor was barely working at the time but just enough to slowly press on.
@@Amdecreations.Its mostly a combination of he's bodies skeletal structure being all adamantium including his skull plus the weakened healing factor.
Thats why Logan and Elana are the only ones able to move, because of there instant healing factor. Everyone else is frozen, even their other mutant friend, Caliban.
1:50 I love how Logan’s first instinct is not to kill the mercenary at the door. Only when he sees all the other mercenaries in the room, ready to kill the professor, does he decide to kill all of them. Hats off to the writers. The entire movie was masterfully written and beautifully executed.
Personally, this is the best superhero film ever made. It’s flawless.

This scene in theaters was crazy, I remember some of the audience in the auditorium took a breath of relief as the characters in the film when Charles seizure was gone. Me included.

Did you watch it in theatres. I wish i did. But Ive never seen this movie yet in its entirety actually and I noticed this pretty fast cuz I was like damn Logan is sticking out like a sore thumb like with the limping and such how and then i saw he also noticed him before the tremors.
@@SirVillain Yep saw it a few times in theatre. I really enjoyed it because it was like the Dark Knight to batman: more cynical.
Laura grabbing Charles' hand is one of the sweetest things. I love the attention they give to the importance of physical contact, and I love how Laura shows it most through her deadliest weapons, her hands.
well, isn’t, like… everyone’s deadliest weapon, their hands?
@@we-must-live In a philosophical sense yeah, bc a hand can hold any deadly weapon. But I was speaking more from a literal sense, since she has metal claws that come out of her knuckles and can decapitate a full grown man in one swing 🤣
@@Nimblescape oh, not philosophical, I mean literally. our arms are capable of producing more physical damage in a more efficient manner than the rest of our body. your legs require positioning and wind-up, your arms can just grab and attack vital organs.
@@we-must-live I feel like this is just semantics to take away from the point of the symbolism. Not to mention, she was raised almost purely with violence. So that + her superhuman strength & claws, makes her hands much more powerful weapons than the average person would view their own hands, even if they do kill someone with brute force.
Idk it’s a hard to explain point, but there’s something so special about how she was trained to only kill with her hands. But actively chooses to show kindness, specifically through her hands instead, throughout the later parts of the movie
@@Nimblescape all good, I just didn’t understand how you emphasised her hands being deadly, even though that’s true for damn near all members of the human race. enjoy the rest of your day, tell X-23 I said hey, l’etrange!
This whole movie is just like it was always supposed to be. No kid-friendly restrictions.
I mean, I get that comic books (therefore, comic book movies) are mainly aimed towards kids.
But I really hate it when that's used as an excuse to not take the concept of certain stories and characters to their absolute extreme. If the story supports it, go dark, brutal, intense, and gory.
I just realized.Logan must absorb a lot other peoples blood through his claws.
Yupp. Never was an issue with his healing. I wonder how he'd be effected in this state
@@Gamerealm976 I mean, the likelihood of contracting one of the forms of Hebatitis is so high from this scene alone. He'd be bed ridden for a month

I wish all the super hero movies were this graphic. Loved Logan.
So much of the time people say the comics are too “dark” for producers and studios to really lean into when they make live action movies. But the real fights, the real emotions and fear and anger is what they should be
Yeah, Logan is a one of a kind marvel movie.
DC movies are gory
Fun fact, at some point we were supposed to get sabertooth while they were here in the city. In face the actor from X-men Origins was completely on board for returning but due to a schedule issue he could make the shoot so the scene was dropped entirely.
Damn, would've loved to see Liev Schreiber return one more time
It’s funny how the first guy Logan kills kinda looks like him
Liev was AMAZING as sabretooth
I love how they pulled no stops in this scene and played it how Wolverine would've really done it- by shucking 'em right in the brain, the most efficient way possible. Man, what an intense scene!
Such a brilliant scene and idea, I think the only thing that might make it more horrific is as Wolverine gets closer, more and more blood streams out of his nose, eyes and ears. But happy they made this movie very graphic.
That wouldnt make sense because Laura is there, and the other mercs should be dead by that then.
Him and Laura are somewhat shielded from Charles' outburst because of the adamanitium grafted to their skeleton.
@@gdept88 Laura only has adamantium on her claws. I think it's their healing factors that helped them resist the paralysis

One of the best scenes in a superhero movie; as it showed the consequences and collateral damage of superhero powers being used in the wider world.
It's cool to notice that the weaker/younger minds get stopped just like when Prof X's powers were working properly but the tougher/older minds can feel the pain from trying to be stopped.
I'd add that Laura is the only one in the room who can move before Logan shows up. Even though two of the mercs have their guns pointed right at Charles, they can't fire, but the kid's crawling across the floor with the syringe to stop the seizure. Dad's genes giving her a hand.

This scene was an absolute mindfuck in theatres, the way the buzzing intensifies as he gets closer to Charles and then suddenly ends 👌 the sound design did a great job at showing the petrifying intensity of the seizure
Also fun fact - the camera was violently shaken around while filming this scene, and then the footage was stabilised, which give it that shaky effect

All this done with the lense of a superhero film placed over it was a genius move. 👏
Even though we've seen Logan (Wolverine) kill many people throughout the series of PG-13 movies, this scene hits so hard because of the elements that made this R-Rated.

It’s wild remembering that the suspected reason that Logan’s powers started to deteriorate wasn’t just his age but the fact that the Transigen was mutating food to prevent mutants.
It could also double as to why Charles started faltering. His powers are directly connected to his mind, and with the food; Charles started to lose his mind and thus lose his control over his powers. Turning him from this one sharp and supreme intelligence to just raw psychic power.
In X Men: DoFP, Charles is claimed to has the most powerful brain ever, it was his gift to know everyone's mind, to bear our pain without breaking... In here, we finally know, that even the most powerful ones can break...

What confuses me is, after being stabbed through the head why is the merc still standing like he is frozen? Charles' power doesn't actually freeze the person, just stops their mind causing paralysis. The moment a person dies their mind can no longer be controlled and their body should just crumple to the floor.
Not actually. In the comics Charles is not only telepathic, he’s also telekinetic. His telekinesis isn’t anywhere near as strong has his telepathy, but it’s no joke. I think the people downstairs and further away are being affected by Charles’ telepathy, but the people upstairs closer to Charles are also being affected by his telekinesis. Notice how Logan doesn’t have a problem moving until he gets out of the elevator and gets closer to Charles. I think this is all a throwback to the same type of telekinetic power we saw Jean use in XMen 3. Telekinesis would keep them physically frozen in place until Charles let them go.
