The problem is that Ronaldo never gets praise for his hardwork...if Ronaldo had lost against roma, entire social media would have absolutely ridiculed him, lashing out at him for months and years to come..the mass media always praises messi and protects him in bad games

This was really interesting, the Spiderman villain's got a point, Ronaldo's mentality is something to be absorbed by players who want to be the best.
And as for the Messi vs Ronaldo thing, I read a quote the other day that went something like, "if an artist were to construct a footballer it would be Messi where as if an engineer were to make one it would be Ronaldo" think thats the best way to put it.

can't dribble, can't pass , terrible team player . still has most number of assists in real madrid history , portugal history , Euro history , champions league history . Only tony kross has more chances created since 2014 on his name , knowing the fact that he has shifted his play on upper flank these days. Until few years ago he used to have most number of dribbles at madrid . He is 33 now . Now he has lost it , But still he does what he does . of corse messi is a better dribbler of the ball but its not all about dribbling . there r lot of players who r better dribbler than bale but just few r more effective thanfully fit bale .

As a messi fan, don't compare Kane to Ronaldo. Ronaldo even at 33 has better dribbling skills and is more entertaining than Kane has ever been. The English press hype him too much at times. He might be the best number 9 with lewandowski but he will never be a messi or ronaldo. They entertain the crowd

    • @PeterWhiteheadViola

Gokul Balakrishnan I got the impression they were just comparing the attitudes to how they both want to get to the best they can be; it wasn't necessarily just comparing 'talent-for-talent'. Obviously Ronaldo is better. But they're saying that Kane has the same attitude as Ronaldo does to wanting to improve his game. The closest they got to Kane being 'best' at something was being the POTENTIAL of being the best English footballer in history

when you consider the old Ronaldo he used to dribble a lot and take on defenders a lot that's what made everyone love him. But as age increased his dribbling abilities decreased so he transformed him self into a Striker rather than playing on the wings he now plays as a 9 which is good for him because he is really good finisher and also his heading abilities are outstanding. He is an intelligent and hard working footballer when he realise that he cannot take on defenders like old times he was willing to work hard and play as a striker and his record speaks for himself.

In 10 years time, people will see in hindsight that Ronaldo was the best player of his time specifically for the reasons these men have discussed. You can't get what Ronaldo has from a battle or from pure genes only. It takes extreme dedication to push yourself every single day in and off the pitch. At 35 years old, he has essentially beat the normal age of decline with his consistency and persistence. That's what separates him from genius footballers.

Gabriel obertan. Ronaldo was at his level, he couldn't combine with the fullback, crosses were massively overhit, couldn't curl a ball, all he did was kick the ball with power, he didn't have a left foot, no positional sense, decision making were awful. All he had was tricky quick feet, step overs, and a fantastic spring he had that jumping power even back then. all the weakness I mentioned are no longer there right now. Roy Keane held a tight ship in United. I know Ronaldo only played with him briefly, but I assume the mentality of a captain of that level had rubbed off on him.
Keane demanded winners around him. But more than anything else, Keane demanded heart, high standards, and 24/7 professionalism.
Just look at any punditry of Keano. 90% of his criticisms are about attitude and desire.
I'm sure there are more influencal players for Ronaldo (seeing as Keane was on his way out as CR7 was on his way in.) But I'm damn sure he played an influence.
Look at the way Ronaldo roars at his teammates. He demands perfection. Just like Keane did.

Must say, that was an enjoyable chat & take on Cristiano. It always amaze's me when people say, he's big-headed, egotistical & just a goalscorer & nothing else ( as if that's a bad thing), etc. To do what Cristiano has been doing for well over ten years, breaking records, deciding key big matches, winning big trophies is something only a handful of players have done in the history of the sport.

I think Cristiano blossomed from a very good player into a great one in 2006 just after the World Cup. Prior to that he was raw, but in that season it's almost as if he realised that if he wanted to best in the world, he would need to be more decisive in front of goal, & so the dribbles & tricks & flicks changed into shots & going for goal more directly & winning the game for his team, & he's gone from strength to strength ever since!

Ronaldo is really the end result of a perfect set of variables.
He had the natural talent and was football obsessed as a kid, so like all the great players, he was tethered to a ball from a young age.
Then he went to United at the perfect age, to learn the importance of hard work, determinaton, physical conditioning and was able to see great pros in action, under one of the games great managers.
His personal/family life showed him what failure looked like so this spurred him on to be even more determined. Fear of failure is a huge thing with many high achieving individuals.
His natural self belief/ego is also a major part of his armory. His mental strength is phenomenal.

Micheal Oliver didn't need VAR to make that call.. What was Benatia thinking about, you can't do that in the box in a tense atmosphere with a minute to spare. Juve had no the cojones to beat Madrid. If there was ever a thing that UEFA wanted Madrid to go through they would have allowed the Isco goal to stand which was offside and would have gave a foul on Navas for Matuidi’s goal even though it clearly wasn’t a foul, put the tin hats in the bin and get to bed. I understand perfectly the disappointment of Juventus fan, but there is penalty. Benatia push in the shoulders and kicked Vazquez. PENALTY.
And Buffon is my fav goalkeeper ever, i'm sorry for his red card, but it's FOOTBALL, CR7 take a red card at Camp Nou for bumping the Ref + 5 match ban.
People finding reasons to blame the ref rather than Benatia who came from behind, shove Vasquez lightly, got his leg around him and made lil or no contact with the ball. Yes many wanted Real Madrid out but can you just face the reality for once concerning this incident.
    Penalty for me!!

    • @afp854
      @afp854 Před 6 lety +2

100% right, refs are human, we can watch the replays over and over 100 times from 100 angles and argue about whether or not benatia did enough to warrant a penalty against him
the refs can only judge from what they see from their angles, from behind it looks like benatia just rams into the back of vasquez, and from the front/side where the assistant ref is standing, it looks like benatia kicks him at the chest
it all happens in one second and thats all the refs see, the penalty is clear in those circumstances

Funny thing that they mention Pogba, cause looking from the outside in. Pogba could easily be the 'Ronaldo' of midfielders, his main rival would be someone like Christian Eriksen who I'd say in his demeanour, calmness and general artistry is a more 'Messi-esque' character. But Eriksen has the ability to turn off distractions and do his job while Pogba is far too preoccupied by his super-stardom to reach the heights everyone expects him to.

This is a quality insight, at least 3 or 4 things said by each can be taken away from this video. Thought the point about the player at the top was spot on. Kane's obviouslyy doing it at Spurs, Ronaldo is at Madrid, and that's what United are missing. Pogba needs a player at the top above him with the right mentality, if he and Lukaku had that they could really push on, never to Ronaldo's standard, but they could be clinical and efficient.

Some say his goal / game average is lower than Messi's, both in total games and CL games and that is totally true but these people are forgetting a few facts:
1 - In CL, start counting the number of games from the game Messi scored his 1st CL goal and stop when he scored the 100th goal, and do the same for CR7: the result is CR7 reached 100 goals in less games than Messi, even though his average is lower than Messi's.
2 - CR7's goal / game ratio for National Team is 0.56, but did you know he scored 38 goals in his last 40 games for Portugal? That's 0.95 goal ratio for those 40 games.
3 - CR7 played 438 games for Real Madrid and scored 450 goals: that's a bit over 1 goal / game ratio. During that time, Messi scored 472 goals BUT played 476 games so his goal /game ratio is just shy of 1. Even though Messi scored more goals, CR7 has a better average than Messi.
4 - What skews CR7's goal / game ratio is his games for Sporting, his early years for MU and his early years for the National Team, when he played much more as a winger. When he started playing more as a striker than a winger, his average skyrocketed. Messi's average doesn't suffer nearly as much from his early years as CR7's does, which is why his average is higher than CR7's.
