The problem is that Ronaldo never gets praise for his hardwork...if Ronaldo had lost against roma, entire social media would have absolutely ridiculed him, lashing out at him for months and years to come..the mass media always praises messi and protects him in bad games
Death Stroke ...Messi is massively overrated.
Death Stroke Messi doesn’t have teammates doing everything (except scoring) for him
thugalizer ....like Xavi, Iniesta, Busqets, but still chokes
Claude Makelele when he had xavi iniesta and busquets he broke the record for most goals in a calendar year, WHICH!still stands atm (91 goals)
Death Stroke same like Floyd Mayweather the boxer
The whole world wants a little bit of decline in cr7
And Ronaldo knows that
That is way he make every year better
Ronaldo has transformed from raw entertaining goalscoring talent to a refined impact goalscorer which delivers under pressure. The Greatest of All Time. 4 Ballon D'ors in the last 5 years.
XrSnipezz cr7 isnt even reals best playern isnt even the best ronaldo, amd nothing compared to the goat messi
XrSnipezz and the last 2 ballon dors should have been given to messi
Pasqual Mclaughlin another xavi 😁😂😂😂
Pasqual Mclaughlin Lmao
Pasqual Mclaughlin you salty salty moron
Christiano Ronaldo is phenomenal, a match decider as well a fine goalscorer! like it or not, but it's the fact tho.
Sarja Jarju john Stead is better
So is Cristiano Ronaldo lol
he’s the greatest of all time
Finn no he’s not
Mighty Marouane Fellaini yes he is
This was really interesting, the Spiderman villain's got a point, Ronaldo's mentality is something to be absorbed by players who want to be the best.
And as for the Messi vs Ronaldo thing, I read a quote the other day that went something like, "if an artist were to construct a footballer it would be Messi where as if an engineer were to make one it would be Ronaldo" think thats the best way to put it.
A good comment and a hilarious joke to back it up. You sir are too good for this.
Rio Ferdinand said it
i could not have said it better, messi and ronaldo is the greatest of all time and there will never be anyone better.
Well said
can't dribble, can't pass , terrible team player . still has most number of assists in real madrid history , portugal history , Euro history , champions league history . Only tony kross has more chances created since 2014 on his name , knowing the fact that he has shifted his play on upper flank these days. Until few years ago he used to have most number of dribbles at madrid . He is 33 now . Now he has lost it , But still he does what he does . of corse messi is a better dribbler of the ball but its not all about dribbling . there r lot of players who r better dribbler than bale but just few r more effective thanfully fit bale .
As a messi fan, don't compare Kane to Ronaldo. Ronaldo even at 33 has better dribbling skills and is more entertaining than Kane has ever been. The English press hype him too much at times. He might be the best number 9 with lewandowski but he will never be a messi or ronaldo. They entertain the crowd
Gokul Balakrishnan I got the impression they were just comparing the attitudes to how they both want to get to the best they can be; it wasn't necessarily just comparing 'talent-for-talent'. Obviously Ronaldo is better. But they're saying that Kane has the same attitude as Ronaldo does to wanting to improve his game. The closest they got to Kane being 'best' at something was being the POTENTIAL of being the best English footballer in history
Peter Whitehead but I have seen English pundits try too many times to put Kane in that same bracket
ikr kane is just a goalscorer nowhere near messi and ronaldo he has no magic in his game eriksen is way better
kane is overated
not overrated i think he is a class striker but these pundits need to stop putting his name in the same sentence and messi and ronaldo i dont care about the stats
Champions League QF,SF and Final Goals, last 7 seasons:
30 - Cristiano Ronaldo.
10 - Robert Lewandowski.
9 - Thomas Müller.
8 - Neymar.
7 - Mario Mandzukic.
6 - Arjen Robben, Luis Suarez.
5 - Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos, Antoine Griezmann, Leo Messi
@Desatroyah Of destruction and swearing on his daughters life it was his goal
can you please show me the source of that?
thanks m8
please remember the assists Ronaldo also has most assists in champions league history People love to say he doesn't assist but he does
destruction nope his nowhere near in decline if e don't leave spurs now in his prime now to win trophies.
How insightful is that journalist?! Really enjoyed listening to him, would prefer to listen to journalists as pundits over ex-players more often.
But I think retired managers should be better since they know how to manage a team to success and therefore they would be very insightful.
Better than those ESPN clowns.
@@arthurduana9093 wooah. Those guys at ESPN are just horrible
Liam Rosenoir & Matthew Syed, these blokes are too much they're not yo average pundits. They're deep, insightful, intelligent and I can't quite remember a single time I've watched 'em and never got educated. Pure class
True, i was just gonna comment "liam rosenoir is an underrated pundit" but then i saw your comment.
@@kitakeamannow he’s hull manager and pushing them for play offs
Reason why I try watch ronaldo every time he plays because in years to come only way will be able to watch him is on CZcams 🙌🏻
cr7 and messi is two gods of football
martin53mattsson Yeah
martin53mattsson Yeah, true fans of football love them both!
im going to be so sad the day they both are gone from football, they are just amazing and we will never see anyone close to them again
Dont worry babe.. its another 8 or 10 years that his football career ends.. by that time maybe by that time i already married you and we had goodlooking babies.
when you consider the old Ronaldo he used to dribble a lot and take on defenders a lot that's what made everyone love him. But as age increased his dribbling abilities decreased so he transformed him self into a Striker rather than playing on the wings he now plays as a 9 which is good for him because he is really good finisher and also his heading abilities are outstanding. He is an intelligent and hard working footballer when he realise that he cannot take on defenders like old times he was willing to work hard and play as a striker and his record speaks for himself.
Jithin Prakash since 2012 he changed his style completetly
+Alex no, he changed his playing style after 2013-14 season,
Football Freak actually after the 14/15 season. The last season of ancelotti when he played like his old self, had around 48 liga goals and 14 assists. Then in 15/16 came benitez and zidane, that's when ronaldo adapted and zidane utilised him to perfection.
Yes! He said in a interview that he doesn't focus on skills and dribbling anymore. He's more into scoring goals.
Every great athlete or person had to change their strategy to be the best one's who never changed their game fell off grace
Just saw this amazing stat. If Mo Salah repeats his freakish current season, for 16 consecutive seasons (he would overtake messi but still be behind Ronaldo), he would end up with 640 goals and 176 assist total.
Messi: 607 G, 248 A and Ronaldo: 650 G, 215 A so far.
Anonymous it won't happen. Salah might not last after 5 years.
Bluff Master
He might not even be this good next year let alone 5 years
JEFFREY touche.
Oh definitely agree! I wasn't implying that. It was just to illustrate how overhype Salah has been being compared to these greats. And to highlight what Ronaldo has done for the game, although he doesn't get the same credit Messi does.
Anonymous you don't really know how salah gives his life off the pitch and on the training ground. So it's impossible to say he won't be good in the future
Cristiano Ronaldo has got that Michael Jordan about him, MJ would spend hours training and on the big stage he would perform
Shuaib Muse practice makes perfect 👌
Messi is Wilt Chamberlain
Shuaib Muse
Goat compares to Goat.
Shuaib Muse bingoo...big stage is the key word from your statement..
Sean Dolan Messi is Mugsey Bogues
99% of footballers in the top leagues have dedicated and passion for the game. But it's the 1% who go over the top, and that's what makes them special.
loyal4 the way you dont just wake up one day and get 5 ballon dor's. A lot of talent is indeed involved, but hard and dedication is 70% of it
Really interesting debate, get the bald guy on more knows what he's talking about!
That's because he's a journalist and not some meathead footballer lol
bigman25plus25 I was going to say his hair was in fear of his intellect and bolted.
Matthew seyd needs to be on this more
Mathew Syed is great for this programme
H R Syed used to be a professional Table Tennis player for England.
H R one of the most eloquent and insightful people I’ve ever listened to
Channels need copy what they do in Europe and stop hiring ex-pros simply off the back of being a decent player. Can you imagine how much better Motd would be with 3 Mathew Syeds rather than Shearer and co.
Penalty or not, that top corner though
Sekani Leslie though?
Sekani Leslie bless your eyes.
I thought Ronaldo was the best equipped of anybody to take that penalty.
And it was a penalty.
Please don't compare harry Kane to Ronaldo
Jack Ryan your right, Kane has more goals than ronaldo at the same age.
So Kane is better.
TheBrass18 Troll 😂
+TheBrass18 at the age of Kane Ronaldo had 3pl titles 1 golden shoe 1 ballon d or 1 champions league title fa cup community shield club wc!
TheBrass18 Kane is a striker and Ronaldo was a winger
Jack Ryan Why can't you compare certain things about players?
Ronaldo is the biggest game player and greatest goal scorer the game has ever seen! Respect!
mathew syed takes this show up a notch, and that's something i never thought was possible. top pair
Did they just compare Kane with Ronaldo??
Their mentality yes
I know.....kanes better
Pasqual Mclaughlin you must be daydreaming bro
BornVillain. __ no they compared mentalities, what ronaldo did for united years ago is what Kane’s doing for Spurs now. Growing and learning. Scoring goals and how they’ll let nothing get in the way of becoming the best.
Though I didn’t think Kane will get to ronaldos level, he’ll definitely eat close to becoming all time leading goal scorer in the premier league
Mr mosley that alone is a tough one
Shearers record is just so hard to beat
Everyone thought rooney’ll break that but nah
Mad insight into these characters
Great guests, especially the guy on the far left, very Knowledgeable and interesting to listen to.
Josfur Gaming Fair enough 👍.
I enjoyed this video a lot. thanks Sky Sports. Mathew had some very wise words
When did messi deliver on a big stage 😹 Last time messi scored in uefa away quarterfinals ronaldo had 1 ballon d'or.
Ronaldo is the one and only player who never fails to deliver on big stages.
Mr Hola messis team isnt helping him ffs they have paulihno cristiano team plays for him however cristaino been better in the champs league last couple seasons but leo is greatest talente ever best ever
Mr andres how his team not helping him?
cristiano has modric kross isco messi has an old iniesta racktic and a dm who has the better supporting cast?
Mr andres Hard work beats lazy talent everyday. Messi is gone, he doesn’t have Henry, Xavi, Villa, Ronaldinho, Eto’o and Neymar anymore to carry him to trophies. Isn’t it odd that Ronaldo scores the important games when his team is in trouble and Messi scores when the play a shitty team or when their ahead?
Ro Na chelsea game madrid game athletici games?
You have to respect the grind that these amazing footballers have done. This is legendary
Upson on Ronaldo conparison:
On Pogba: “I just don’t see him live & sleep football”
Trophies: 11
On Kane: “Thats why he is no.1 star quality”

Biased because Kane is English.!

Talent is nothing. Hardwork is ALL! That's why Ronaldo edges over Messi. Matthew Syed should be here more
Adetayo Adesola
Talent is everything, obviously coupled with hard work. Messi is 30, Ronaldo 33, he already has a miles better goal record and trophy haul than him.
messi is the better player. credit tot ronaldo for being close
Sean Walsh ronaldo in his prime he was the best
lol, messi at 20 was better than cr in any of his prime years
Sean Walsh ronaldo played in a competitive league while messi only proved him in la liga......u cant say he will be as good as he is now when he plays in pl
"Can Harry Kane reach that level?" ...I'll answer that one for ya....NO.
@Gadz348 Lewandowski, what are you on?!!!
In 10 years time, people will see in hindsight that Ronaldo was the best player of his time specifically for the reasons these men have discussed. You can't get what Ronaldo has from a battle or from pure genes only. It takes extreme dedication to push yourself every single day in and off the pitch. At 35 years old, he has essentially beat the normal age of decline with his consistency and persistence. That's what separates him from genius footballers.
I can't imagine the 21st Century's football without either *Cristiano* or *Messi* . 🙏
Matthew Syed is so good. Knows his stuff and talks so much sense! Great watch!
I watched Ronaldo week in week out when he broke through at utd, if you had a bet on who would go on to be better, you'd put your house and your parents house on Rooney. even better comparison? Gabriel obertan. Ronaldo was at his level, he couldn't combine with the fullback, crosses were massively overhit, couldn't curl a ball, all he did was kick the ball with power, he didn't have a left foot, no positional sense, decision making were awful. All he had was tricky quick feet, step overs, and a fantastic spring he had that jumping power even back then. all the weakness I mentioned are no longer there right now. Absolute credit to him to be where he is.
he has made himself into the best footballer and possibly best athlete of all time.
Pass the "something" ball
😂😂😂😂😂
he turned into an absolute goal machine
CRISTIANO RONALDO IS THE GOAT 🐐
Mohtashim Shaikh Leo messi is
Ben Saber
And messis argument is pre assists. He's just bottled another champions league game.
Sou do Benfica
No. But he was barcelonas worst player in the 2 games.
Aaron Keane
Watch him fanboy, he’s been unreal 98//99% of the season. Barca would be 4th without him. Did you see first 5-6 months Ronaldo performance? That’s why Real are out of La Liga
Andy Walford
He was barcelonas worst player in knockout stages for 3 seasons. He's third in the ballondor race because Ronaldo and Salah have been far better since January.
I cannot imagine football without cr7 , I just cannot. The season he signed for MANU was the season from which I started following football and I have been following it ever since. Just amazing what he has done , kane can do his max and I hope he does but what cr7 has transformed into is just unreal.
Same man. The day is coming closer everyday. I'm younger so I haven't been watching football for long. Started from about 2014 when I asked my brother's friend who he thinks the best player in the world was. He simply said "go and watch Cristiano Ronaldo". Tbh I didn't even know who he was but I checked him out. I was so shocked at his skills. He's the greatest player ever and he made me fall in love with Football.
I am going to steal this quote, idk who said it.
"If an artist was to design the perfect footballer it would be messi. If an engineer was to design the perfect footballer it would be ronaldo".
Tbh perfectly describes there differences. Also they aren't comparable, can't say one is better than the other
I'm so glad someone has said ineista been saying that for years!! Bur as for Ronaldo he's the best player to ever grace a football pitch
This is the most beautifully nuanced conversation between commentators I've ever seen. Setting good examples and value for the younger ones!
Roy Keane held a tight ship in United. I know Ronaldo only played with him briefly, but I assume the mentality of a captain of that level had rubbed off on him.
Keane demanded winners around him. But more than anything else, Keane demanded heart, high standards, and 24/7 professionalism.
Just look at any punditry of Keano. 90% of his criticisms are about attitude and desire.
I'm sure there are more influencal players for Ronaldo (seeing as Keane was on his way out as CR7 was on his way in.) But I'm damn sure he played an influence.
Look at the way Ronaldo roars at his teammates. He demands perfection. Just like Keane did.
pogba cares about his hair style and color and being cool more than chasing being the best imo
Hei Wong Oh shut up about Pogbas hair for one moment ffs.
So you’re telling me pogba doesn’t aim to get better everyday he’s a pro footballer playing for united to say he’s more focused on his hair is dumb it’s not like he misses training to get his hair cut or go to dance lessons kmt
+Hei Wong
Pogba is a Centre Mid player. There is no chance of him being the best. Besides, you didn't watch the Derby last week did you....kid.
Apple Bee he can't be the best because he plays centre mid? How?
Apple Bee What kinda dumb post is that.

@@seanwalsh7542 You´re a midget fanboy who commented like 50 times in a Ronaldo video, now that´s cringe.
Must say, that was an enjoyable chat & take on Cristiano. It always amaze's me when people say, he's big-headed, egotistical & just a goalscorer & nothing else ( as if that's a bad thing), etc. To do what Cristiano has been doing for well over ten years, breaking records, deciding key big matches, winning big trophies is something only a handful of players have done in the history of the sport.
I think Cristiano blossomed from a very good player into a great one in 2006 just after the World Cup. Prior to that he was raw, but in that season it's almost as if he realised that if he wanted to best in the world, he would need to be more decisive in front of goal, & so the dribbles & tricks & flicks changed into shots & going for goal more directly & winning the game for his team, & he's gone from strength to strength ever since!
best sportsman that ever lived, think about it, 17 year on top level, no injury, any other top players were at top 5 years at most, if so
Hard work, talent and and self belief will always be the keys to greatness.
No matter what. CR7 is a complete player, and that is why he is the best.
Ronaldo is really the end result of a perfect set of variables.
He had the natural talent and was football obsessed as a kid, so like all the great players, he was tethered to a ball from a young age.
Then he went to United at the perfect age, to learn the importance of hard work, determinaton, physical conditioning and was able to see great pros in action, under one of the games great managers.
His personal/family life showed him what failure looked like so this spurred him on to be even more determined. Fear of failure is a huge thing with many high achieving individuals.
His natural self belief/ego is also a major part of his armory. His mental strength is phenomenal.
Ronaldo has 120 UCL goals and 40 assists (both the most ever) (he has 28 for RM) and Messi has 100 UCL goals with 22 assists.
And messi has 27 ucl assists moron
messi is 2 years younger, but anyway messi and ronaldo is the greatest of all time so stop comparing because we will never see anyone better again
Messi has played less games in the champions league - has a higher goal and assist rate - quite dishonest to exclude that
martin53mattsson agreed

Rosenior is going to be a good manager in the future i think.
The only player you need when everything is going against your team 🐐
Matthew Syed? Lord have mercy on your soul, I could listen to you for hours.
Cristiano already had that mentality from his time at sporting, he used sneak into the gym when he wasn't allowed to be there just to work out because people at sporting were saying he's too skinny, his hard work ethic was born with him so, he deffo grew a ton at united but his work ethic and talent have always been with him even when he was at sporting 💚💚🦁
To steal a quote from Vince Lombardi “ The desire and the will to win. That is more important than the outcome of the game” You can have passion , but desire is eternal I think. Cheers.👍
Hearing them talk about Ronaldos overhead kick gives me more appreciation for Rooney to do that with a belly full of beer and burgers. If Rooney followed Ronaldos lead he could of been mentioned with them because he did have the talent, he was as exciting as Ronaldo when first came about, even though an amazing fxxcking career shame he didn’t treat himself better. He should of said to himself in the mirror“Rooney your worth it” instead of “where’s me fooking hair la”
Micheal Oliver didn't need VAR to make that call.. What was Benatia thinking about, you can't do that in the box in a tense atmosphere with a minute to spare. Juve had no the cojones to beat Madrid. If there was ever a thing that UEFA wanted Madrid to go through they would have allowed the Isco goal to stand which was offside and would have gave a foul on Navas for Matuidi’s goal even though it clearly wasn’t a foul, put the tin hats in the bin and get to bed. I understand perfectly the disappointment of Juventus fan, but there is penalty. Benatia push in the shoulders and kicked Vazquez. PENALTY.
And Buffon is my fav goalkeeper ever, i'm sorry for his red card, but it's FOOTBALL, CR7 take a red card at Camp Nou for bumping the Ref + 5 match ban.
People finding reasons to blame the ref rather than Benatia who came from behind, shove Vasquez lightly, got his leg around him and made lil or no contact with the ball. Yes many wanted Real Madrid out but can you just face the reality for once concerning this incident.
Penalty for me!!
100% right, refs are human, we can watch the replays over and over 100 times from 100 angles and argue about whether or not benatia did enough to warrant a penalty against him
the refs can only judge from what they see from their angles, from behind it looks like benatia just rams into the back of vasquez, and from the front/side where the assistant ref is standing, it looks like benatia kicks him at the chest
it all happens in one second and thats all the refs see, the penalty is clear in those circumstances
afromp I disagree it only looks like that because vaquez was going down watch the reply he goes down as he chests the ball then falls in too benatia maybe from behind it looks like a pen but it wasn't doesn't change anything tho
napstar da ghettokid I disagree it only looks like that because vaquez was going down watch the reply he goes down as he chests the ball then falls in too benatia maybe from behind it looks like a pen but it wasn't doesn't change anything tho
lunt banzi I agree to disagree with you too mate. I watched that clip time without numbers because I wasn't sure, now I am.
napstar da ghettokid if that challenge happens anywhere on the pitch other than penalty box it's not a foul. Mate in real time did not look like a pen plus vasquez momentum as he bends his knees takes him to ground much easier, there's no shove in the back nothing like that
Pure hardwork
this is a lesson to us all... i ll watch as oft as i can

you make too much of CR7 in Manchester. He was a child and he was working extra hours and taking weights in his school backpack. His work ethic is his... not a consequence of Manchester´s players... GOAT !
Stanley Matthews of Stoke,Blackpool &England, used to train all week with lead plates in his boots, only took them out on match day, felt like he could skin any fullback and did. This in the 1930s,40s,50s&60s when Stoke&Blackpool were Div one clubs. He began his career in 1932,played until he was 50.
More of Mathew Syed please.
the team you play for contributes all to yoour growth and name
I know loads of young guys who put weights on their ankles and never made it, I also know for a fact that several players did the same, well before Ronaldo.
Ronaldo never choked under pressure.. That makes him different from any other player.
This is so interesting!
Messi=Talent
Ronaldo=Hard work
Heisenberg-SchrodingerEmc2 messi had natural talent but ronaldo did it by his hardwork
kane doesn't possess a fraction of the quality that ronaldo, messi, neymar, etc possess. Yeah he scores goals but hes nowhere near the level of these players, for me aguero, salah, kdb, pogba, hazard, all better than kane
kane and pogba are kind of player you just see and cool great player really good...but when you see messi and ron play you go wwwwwoooww!! holyshit how did he do that..damnn!! thats the difference..
Did they even discuss the subject at hand? Or is the caption wrong?
We're lucky to be alive to see Messi and Ronaldo break records. Such a delight. After they retire, who will be the best? No one if we look now.
We're in the presence above greatness...the stats are truly hard to fathom with this guy. Some idiots during his little off form period said he should be shipped off to China or America...buffoons. I hope he plays at this standard as long as possible. Mad respect to the greatest complete footballer ever~!
Funny thing that they mention Pogba, cause looking from the outside in. Pogba could easily be the 'Ronaldo' of midfielders, his main rival would be someone like Christian Eriksen who I'd say in his demeanour, calmness and general artistry is a more 'Messi-esque' character. But Eriksen has the ability to turn off distractions and do his job while Pogba is far too preoccupied by his super-stardom to reach the heights everyone expects him to.
This is a quality insight, at least 3 or 4 things said by each can be taken away from this video. Thought the point about the player at the top was spot on. Kane's obviouslyy doing it at Spurs, Ronaldo is at Madrid, and that's what United are missing. Pogba needs a player at the top above him with the right mentality, if he and Lukaku had that they could really push on, never to Ronaldo's standard, but they could be clinical and efficient.
He has great genetics too, why was this not mentioned. He is a natural born athlete better than most
Does anyone have any links about the "curler effect" ? I couldn't find anything online.
1991crankshaft it's the Kohler effect. I too initially thought it was the Curler effect but after reading this comment and realizing they were talking about Germany, I figured it out

cr7 was bullied during the early years.... think it motivated....him alot.
Who’s now so much more motivated to do batter in something or even just their life after watching this?
Cr7 is the most strong minded player in history to show up in big games for years
ronaldo and messi need each other
Some say his goal / game average is lower than Messi's, both in total games and CL games and that is totally true but these people are forgetting a few facts:
1 - In CL, start counting the number of games from the game Messi scored his 1st CL goal and stop when he scored the 100th goal, and do the same for CR7: the result is CR7 reached 100 goals in less games than Messi, even though his average is lower than Messi's.
2 - CR7's goal / game ratio for National Team is 0.56, but did you know he scored 38 goals in his last 40 games for Portugal? That's 0.95 goal ratio for those 40 games.
3 - CR7 played 438 games for Real Madrid and scored 450 goals: that's a bit over 1 goal / game ratio. During that time, Messi scored 472 goals BUT played 476 games so his goal /game ratio is just shy of 1. Even though Messi scored more goals, CR7 has a better average than Messi.
4 - What skews CR7's goal / game ratio is his games for Sporting, his early years for MU and his early years for the National Team, when he played much more as a winger. When he started playing more as a striker than a winger, his average skyrocketed. Messi's average doesn't suffer nearly as much from his early years as CR7's does, which is why his average is higher than CR7's.
its all about mentality
By 23 Ronaldo had already won a Ballon Dor, a Champions League and a League Title
