When Messi has scored 2 times more goals than you and has 4 times more assists.
More goals for his country and 3 times more trophyes whit his club.
But people repeat like broken record ,,But Maradona won WC, But Maradona made Napoli champions" .
    So?
2 great seasons compared to 15!
Messi has been so far ahead of everyone else for a while now but people LOVE romanticising the past saying: "Oh but he could have been so good if he didn't have personal problems , Oh but he won 3 WC , oh But he scored more goals in the CL"!
No! Its a TEAM SPORT ! How many World Cups you win has NOTHING to do whit how good you are overall.
Carrying your teams to 2 trophies does NOT compare to carrying it to 34!
    This debate is ridiculous.

Who else agrees that Lionel Messi is the most complete player ever because he combines goal scoring, assists, play making, passing and dribbling all together brilliantly whilst Cristiano Ronaldo is the most complete goal scorer ever because he has 100+ right foot goals, 100+ left footed goals, 100+ headed goals, 100+ outside the box goals and 50+ free kicks as well as 50+ hat tricks, this alongside their consistency, individual awards, records and statistics alone proves why we are all lucky to have lived in the era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the greatest players to have graced the world of football.

    My list :
    1. Pele (based more on hearsay and World Cup titles)
1.Messi (not just a great goalscorer but also a scorer of great goals, one of best ever dribblers, final third passers, creators the game has ever seen. His peak is the highest I have ever seen, add longevity and you have the no 1 of all time).
3.Maradona: World Cup 1986 performances will never be repeated by any other player ever. Had all the attributes that Messi has except wasn't one of the greatest goalscorers. And his off the pitch issues meant he never really played to his Mexico 86 level consistently enough.
    4. Johann Cruijff: footballs revolutionary. He changed the game during his playing days and than as a manager. A cerebral footballer with magnificent skills.
    4. Cristiano Ronaldo: longevity, goals galore, right foot, left foot, headers, long rangers, speed, anticipation. The perfect athlete. 5 champions league titles, success wherever he goes. All substance. The guy who goes straight for the jugular. A silent assassin.
    5. Backenbauer: the best ever in his position. Vision, passing ability, goalscorer and an orchastretor. A leader. World Cup and European Cup winner.
    Special mentions:
R9: would be on this list behind Messi, Pele and Maradona if it wasn't for his knee injury and Brazilian party lifestyle.
R10. Also would be on the list ahead of Cruyff if he had the longevity and had forgone his parties.

Messi and CR7 have won numerous UEFA Champions League’s, Legaue titles, Ballon D’Or’s, Golden Boots, etc. If you don’t think Messi and CR7 aren’t the 2 GREATEST of all time, I respect your opinion. What would be the parameters we need to look at? Consistency, Ability, Technique, Imagination, Teamsmanship.
Messi and Maradona score high on all 5. Cristiano and Pele on 4 (excluding imagination and teamsmanship respectively).
In addition, Cristiano played with outstanding teams at MU, RM and Juve. Pele played with an outstanding Brazil team throughout (and for the record, he wasn't the best player of the team in 1958 or 1970) and never played in Europe. Messi played a large part of his career with a mediocre Argentina team and an excellent Barca one.
But what Maradona did with an ordinary Argentina team and a bottom ranked Napoli are incomparable in the history of football.

@@jamalhussain8698 You keep saying everyone is the best in their own backyards but I still don’t understands what you’re actually talking about. Additionally I’m not quite sure how Ronaldo can be the best when he wasn’t even the best player in any of the leagues he played in. Of course he was the best in that one season for United but over his 6 years there his record and stats are not that of a player you would call the greatest of all time. Ronaldo’s best time of his career was in Spain and even then he wasn’t as good as Messi. Now he’s at Juventus and all I can here about is how he betrayed the team. Admittedly that’s a bit harsh but it’s not like he’s dominated world football at all the clubs he’s been at. He’s been great at all 3 but only truly GOAT level at 1.

@@charliecharlie846 you keep on forgetting that real Madrid was in rebuilding process where ronaldo came and took the team to challenge Barcelona when they were in their prime dominating the world football, In a time like that ronaldo showed he can take a broken team turn it around and win the things he has, Don't think if it was the other way round messi could have done that. Messi took all the glory yet when Spain won the world Cup xavi or iniesta was not given the ballond'or while messi did nothing with Argentina. Dont get me wrong messi is a quality player but only at Barcelona, he is only effective in a certain style of football, if that makes you the GOAT then that's messi fan boys
