I will always remember the FIFA Balon D'or 2014 gala where Robben, Messi and Cristiano were asked about the most important goal in their careers. Messi and Robben chose a goal, but Cristiano said "The next goal is the most important". I love that answer. It really showcases his ambitious mindset.

I've reached a point where I've learned to appreciate the 2 of them. I genuinely can't choose one over the other, both of them have unique traits that help them stand out from the rest of the competition. They are both images of greatness and I'm very much blessed to have watched the 2 of them in their prime. I can. Messi is miles better and Ronaldo’s only arguments for being the greatest player ever is goals. When u think about Maradona, Messi, Cruyff, Best, etc this guys weren’t the best bc of their goals, these guys are more than just goals and that’s a different level. @@ayoo8782 I disagree, he's physically much more powerful, I think his athleticism is better and he's obviously got more pace, these are things other than goals. The other part of this is, it isn't simply number of goals but you can break it down further, he has more headed goals, more weak footed goals, a better penalty record, more tap ins, more long range goals, and even with free kicks Messi is ahead but there's only a 4 goal difference in that regard. Simply put he is much more versatile in how he scores those goals.
From a playmaking perspective, yes Messi has the advantage here but not every player needs to do everything (Ronaldo is no slouch in this department either) things like dribbles etc are just a means to an end, which is to beat your man, whether you do that by beating them to the ball in the box or using a bit of flair to beat them in a 1v1 is irrelevant in a results business.

I think Ronaldo will go down as the most complete footballing great that’s ever lived. Messi is undoubtedly the GOAT. But Ronaldo is so athletic, strong, fast, skilful, both footed, incredible in the air etc etc. He is incredible. A consummate professional and winner. I think when he retires people will realise how exceptional his career really was, and just how much he changed the game.
Nah messi is definitely more complete, I think messi playmaking, technique and football IQ is more important than ronaldos better goalscoring and athleticism
